So sad to read this. Her poor parents and poor Nora. Unthinkable.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 13/08/2019 09:56

As a teacher who’s taught kids who sound a lot like Nora this is as terrifying as a small child going missing. Poor family.

TheFlis12345 · 13/08/2019 10:03

In the latest update the police says it is the body of a white female found 2km from where they were staying so sadly it is probably Nora. Body was found by a waterfall by a man who then reported it.

alittleprivacy · 13/08/2019 10:03

She was found in an inaccessible place so she must have been taken? So so sad.

A body was found in an inaccessible place. We don't know yet that it was Nóra. Yes, it's likely that a body found while searching for the missing person is that person. But it's not certain and it has happened in the past that a body found on a search was someone else.

Proseccoinamug · 13/08/2019 10:03

The news nobody wanted to hear. How totally heartbreaking and that poor family. Her learning difficulties make it all the more awful.

The daily fail is reporting that a white skinned female body has been found. Others reporting that forensic examination is needed to determine male or female.... would a body really deteriorate to that extent in two weeks? Extreme heat maybe?

Clinging to hope that it isn’t Nóra but that’s so unlikely really. Poor wee thing.

With limited mobility surely she couldn’t have got to the mountains by herself? And her parents say she won’t even go into the garden at home without her mum.

PolkaDotted · 13/08/2019 10:04

How terrible. Poor Nora and poor parents. I cannot begin to imagine the extent of their pain. I hope that she didn't suffer but what a terrible tragedy whatever has happened.

Proseccoinamug · 13/08/2019 10:04

If it’s inaccessible, how did the man who found the body get there?

Greywalls12 · 13/08/2019 10:05

Every parents worst nightmare Sad

steff13 · 13/08/2019 10:08

This is heartbreaking. She was found in an inaccessible place so she must have been taken?

I read an article that said she was someplace inaccessible, but another said a man found her and called the police. So clearly it was accessible. Of course, it also said she was found near a waterfall. If she was in the water she could have fallen in the river and been carried.

Regardless, it's a shame.

bellabasset · 13/08/2019 10:09

Heartbreaking news for the family

LoseLooseLucy · 13/08/2019 10:10

So utterly sad Sad

It reminds me of poor Jeffrey Hodgson who went missing and sadly died on holiday Sad

viques · 13/08/2019 10:12

Poor little girl. Poor family. Such a sad ending to a life that was limited but filled with much love and care.

TheFlis12345 · 13/08/2019 10:14

Regarding how he found the body, it’s been stated that it’s at a waterfall so may be in some sort of ravine. Just because the body can be seen doesn’t mean they can get to it easily.

CatapultingCookies · 13/08/2019 10:20

So very sad. My heart goes out to the family.

IsobelRae23 · 13/08/2019 10:26

What I don’t get is that they’ve found the body (it has not been confirmed yet) less then 1km from where they were staying, that’s just over half a mile, 1000 metres. You would have through with 350 people searching that, they would have found the body on day 1 of searching. It seems unbelievable. Also a man phoned the hotline? Surely there are hundreds of police, special forces etc around, why would someone go home and phone? Call me skeptical but that does not make sense, especially after the ‘find’ was when the £10,000 reward was offered.

EmeraldShamrock · 13/08/2019 10:26

My heart stopped when I got to page 12.
How awful 😔😓
I hope she wandered, the thoughts of anyone hurting her is to much.
The small silver lining is they can bring their baby home. 😥

The80sweregreat · 13/08/2019 10:29

Sad to hear that a body has been found. Its heartbreaking.

EmeraldShamrock · 13/08/2019 10:29

Money talks unfortunately.

my2bundles · 13/08/2019 10:33

Isobell . On bbc news it said a man walked to one of tbe police check points to report finding the body. My thoughts are with Nora s family

FrumptyLumpty · 13/08/2019 10:41

Very sad news. Its unlikely to be anyone but Nora as I doubt there are any other missing persons in an area like that. As a mother of an SN teenager who needs constant supervision, I cannot begin to understand her family's, including her siblings, devastation.

It's makes me so mad though that when things like this happen abroad, the authorities are seen as inept and incompetent like we would have done any better over here! The parents obviously knew their daughter, kids can be unpredictable though, but the police also knew the area and what was likely to have happened.

my2bundles · 13/08/2019 10:41

I apologise. A different news report has said someone did ring the hotline.

x2boys · 13/08/2019 10:47

How utterly tragic,I don't think we can speculate at the moment what's happened, I was saying to dh this morning how I don't think ds2_would wander off but sometimes children with learning disabilities can act unpredictably ,what ever ,s happened it's heartbreaking,I was so hoping this wouldn't be the out come Sad

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 13/08/2019 10:47

How sad. Her poor family

WeshMaGueule · 13/08/2019 10:48

IsobelRae you're aware we're talking about dense jungle here, not open parkland?

Nicknacky · 13/08/2019 10:50

And it’s all very well saying “it’s only a mile” but you have to consider they have to search 360 degrees from the hotel through dense jungle. Not to mention the photo the daily mail have of a deadly cobra they caught nearby.

A mile is only just a mile when you know exactly where to look which they obviously didn’t.
