Crikey, I remember that!!

I totally fell in love with Gary Sweet as a result Grin.

Dirtyjellycat · 01/08/2019 18:37

It was brilliant. I’d love to watch it again.

ForalltheSaints · 01/08/2019 18:38

The cricket scenes are awful, but it is a story worth remembering. Helps understand why the England v Australia Ashes series are the most important event in cricket.

RockNRollNerd · 01/08/2019 18:45

Loved it, the weekend we spent playing “Bodyline” at the cricket club the weekend after was good fun too but the bruises all down my left side not so much 😂. For context we were all primary school aged kids of cricketers and it seemed like an excellent idea at the time, this was before anyone playing club cricket wore helmets etc so no one saw anything wrong with us flinging hard balls at each other for two days!

Kerry Packer’s War is also a great TV series if you like your cricket shows

Yes, that was brilliant.

DareDevil223 · 01/08/2019 18:54

I remember watching it with my cricket mad mum and dad when it was on. What a lovely reminder of a happy memory, thanks OP Smile

Fragalino · 01/08/2019 19:01

It's was fabulous, I was madly in love with Dougie, the cold bastard Grin and adored watching how they all came to be great cricketers. Eg bradman endlessly hitting golf ball with a stick.

You can still start a fight in an Aussie pub by mentioning this!

Motoko · 01/08/2019 19:08

I remember it too. My ex was sport mad, so he insisted on watching it, and as I was in the living room too, I ended up watching it.

I did actually enjoy it.

LEELULUMPKIN · 01/08/2019 19:09

Paradyning · 01/08/2019 19:17

Ooo i loved it!

DeRigueurMortis · 01/08/2019 19:18

I do - it was Fantastic and I don't even like cricket.

Reminds me if I could get hold of it on DVD it would be a great present for FIL

JassyRadlett · 01/08/2019 19:36

It was practically compulsory viewing in my Australian primary school.

Not the most accurate, apparently, but certainly captured the impact on broader feelings.

5LeafClover · 01/08/2019 19:44

I loved it. It brings back really strong memories of that summer ( the one when I watched the series, not the bodyline ashes...I'm not that old). I think it was on really late at night.

bellinisurge · 01/08/2019 20:00

I remember this too. Really enjoyed it

Shoppingwithmother · 01/08/2019 20:28

I loved this series so much and I have no interest in cricket whatsoever. I watched it by myself when I was on study leave and it was on in the daytime.

The first episode I watched because I didn’t want to get on with my work, but then I really got into it and looked forward to each episode.

I would love to watch it again.

DoubleDeckerBusRideLover · 01/08/2019 20:35

Yes, vividly!

Evilspiritgin · 01/08/2019 20:39

Yes I watched as well, great series

CellularBlanket · 01/08/2019 20:47

Yes - watched it with my dad - now dead. He was a cricketer and loved the series. It was brilliant and helped me understand the game better.

LadyRannaldini · 01/08/2019 21:31

I thought you were referring to the actual series of matches, didn't realise that there was a TV thingy, I was working out how old people would be if they remembered the original, in the 1930s!

wizzler · 01/08/2019 21:34

I loved it despite no interest in cricket at all. It was such a good series
