If you could go anywhere for a week as a couple where would you go...

This isn't really a hypothetical question, I am starting a new job and have some time of in between but in term time....a family member can look after my children for a week and I have a reasonable budget to pay for this.

Where would you go...

All you Seychelles voters, can you recommend a hotel, am looking at the moment but there's so much choice?

Anyone thinking of Cancun/Tulum, which I would usually highly recommend, check the seaweed situation first.

Maldives. Went on honeymoon & it was utterly fab, would love to redo it. It's £££ tho. If I was on a budget it's a lot to splash out, so with a bit less cash I would just head as far south as possible within Europe for some winter sun (canaries, cape Verde etc).

fraxion · 02/08/2019 06:48

Scottish Hebrides to get away from everything - although it would probably rain all week.

We were there last November and had amazing weather! Yes it was cold but it was dry, sunny and no wind. We loved it.

I see Maldives mentioned a lot. It's our favourite destination but for us we'd be gutted to go home after a week.

PinkFoxglove · 02/08/2019 07:35

The Indian Ocean is lovely but it's a long flight for a week.
I'd pick a Caribbean island that you can fly directly to, maybe St Lucia or Grenada ( the BA flight to Grenada stops at St Lucia but you don't need to get off).
Have you got a budget Op?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 03/08/2019 09:15

Seychelles, wonderful. Otherwise Bequia. Very relaxed and unspoiled Caribbean island (part of St Vincent and the Grenadines). You can day trip to Mustique from there!

CottonSock · 03/08/2019 09:18

I had lovely weather in Morocco in. November, but it can rain. I'd go to carribean or canaries

Purplejay · 03/08/2019 09:25

I wouldn’t bother with long haul for a week. What month are you looking at? Do you want to relax or do sightseeing/activities? Do you want to go somewhere you have never been?

I would choose Italy for relaxing, good food, sightseeing or if I wanted to chill on a beach, probably Menorca - it looks pretty.

Valencia was lovely, great town, lots to do, close to beaches and tapas. Or you could go to Norway or Switzerland for stunning scenery.

Purplejay · 03/08/2019 09:28

Just seen it is November you are looking at.

Canary Islands then.

citychick · 12/09/2019 13:11

Siem Reap (Cambodia) It's fabulous. Right next to Angkor Watt.
The town has a cool vibe and I'd find a boutique hotel with a wonderful pool.

That's what I'd do.

misspiggy19 · 12/09/2019 19:52

Long haul is a waste of time for 1 week

leckford · 12/09/2019 19:58

Florence, lovely

Went in early December last year, going late November this year. Bliss.

Nisse1 · 12/09/2019 20:05

Kenya, Masai Mara.

Mummadeeze · 12/09/2019 20:15

If you have already been to New York, I recommend Chicago. It is a really beautiful city with loads to do. A week was a good amount of time to explore. Alternatively, I would love to go to a luxurious spa hotel anywhere really - maybe in Scotland or Ireland even - and really relax and rejuvenate. But maybe that is because I am kind of exhausted at the moment!

willstarttomorrow · 12/09/2019 20:32

For a week I would rule out long haul. Beach resorts in Europe will be closed down and not really warm enough and city breaks can be the opposite of relaxing if you have to find something to do and somewhere to eat every day.
Embrace the seasons of where ever you go. We go to the themal resorts scattered around central and eastern Europe a lot. I am going again to one in Hungary for 4 nights at the end of October and flights are under £20 return each. We love them but it might not be every one's idea of a good holiday. We also have had an amazing break in Saariselka, Finnish Lapland, however it may be a bit too early to get the magic of their winter.

TriciaH87 · 12/09/2019 22:33

Cape Verde sal not boa vista. Weather's great in November that's when we went nice and relaxing.

elprup · 12/09/2019 22:41

NYC

tonga · 12/09/2019 23:12

Africa definitely. We went to SA/Mozambique in November and it was perfect. Long haul without kids is no problem and feels like huge treat. Do it!

Durgasarrow · 13/09/2019 03:11

Washington, DC, is also nice, with plenty to see on day trips, too. And the weather is relatively mild. Also, coastal southern cities like Charleston and Augusta are pretty

SMaCM · 13/09/2019 03:13

Lake Como is lovely and very relaxing.
