If you could go anywhere for a week as a couple where would you go...

This isn't really a hypothetical question, I am starting a new job and have some time of in between but in term time....a family member can look after my children for a week and I have a reasonable budget to pay for this.

Where would you go...

Barbados. Simply the best holiday destination of all time.

ChangeYourThinking · 01/08/2019 18:36

I wouldn’t fly anywhere. Climate change is happening. Frivolous air travel needs to stop. Think of your children.

FallenMadonnawiththeBadBoobies · 01/08/2019 18:38

India - seriously. My mind and senses were well and truly blown. I can’t wait to go back there.

My husband has been there on business many, many times, but loved being able to explore with me. Better to go when it’s not too hot and find a guide who can take you off the beaten track.

People are lovely. Prepare to be humbled.

Italy. Hire a car. Nice villa with pool. Eat loads. Drink wine. Bliss

But why would you go to a villa with a pool in November in Italy with temps averaging between 7 and 16degrees??

User55234 · 01/08/2019 18:44

Tobago or Sri Lanka or Kenya

Panicmode1 · 01/08/2019 18:44

I'd go back to the Maldives or Turks and Caicos at that time of year.... Or I'd return to the fabulous South Africa/Namibia and do a couple of days on safari and then head to the coast or wine route... .

Happy choosing and travelling!

nooddsocksforme · 01/08/2019 18:50

Singapore or Malaysia.

Scottish Hebrides to get away from everything - although it would probably rain all week.

Have been in Cannes in November and the temperature was very pleasant .

Popuppippa · 01/08/2019 19:16

Bora Bora
Japan - Cherry Blossom Celebration (maybe not good timing for you)
Canada - Rocky Mountaineer Train
Siem Reap Cambodia
Florence

I can recommend;

The Maldives - totally relaxing
Sri Lanka - amazing
The Orient Express to Venice - LOVED this (was for a big birthday)
Milan then 1st class train through Italy stopping in Lake Como
Rome then on to Pompeii and Herculaneum
Skopelos

Key west in florida

chuffoff · 01/08/2019 20:37

Maldives. Had a week there earlier in the year and it felt the longest week ever. Instant relaxation as soon as we stepped foot on our island. Paradise

annikin · 01/08/2019 20:45

Maldives - stunning!

TremblingFanjo · 01/08/2019 20:52

Tahiti is my dream destination. Everyone else has suggested far more practical solutions for a week in November however!

FawnDrench · 01/08/2019 21:00

Zanzibar - lovely and warm in November.

DorisDances · 01/08/2019 21:00

Try the Rendezvous in St Lucia

shieldmaidenofrohan · 01/08/2019 21:43

Helsinki 💕

shieldmaidenofrohan · 01/08/2019 21:44

mexico - tulum.

Gorgeous but that's a 3 week vacation, not 1

shieldmaidenofrohan · 01/08/2019 21:47

Are people not reading the post suggesting all these really rather long haul destinations for a week ? Or rather chilly locations given it will be November when she goes ?
I assume she wanted genuine ideas rather than impractical ones.

Op, with a week you need to stay within 5 hrs flight realistically. Somewhere like Cape Verde, Madeira or the canaries will still be pleasantly hot and give you a tropical vibe.

Or... oh yes... New York. All decorated for Christmas, gorgeous

Pinkarsedfly · 01/08/2019 21:49

Mexico - Punta Mita.

StCharlotte · 01/08/2019 21:49

I would happily do Barbados for a week.

cattaxi · 01/08/2019 21:54

Another vote for the Maldives. Dh and I had a super holiday there ore kids.
Nothing but relaxing, snorkelling, eating & drinking yummy food & spending quality time together. All in a beautiful setting. Bliss!

itsahardknocklife87 · 01/08/2019 21:55

New York

BeanBag7 · 01/08/2019 21:56

Somewhere like the Maldives or Bali for a relaxing beach holiday. It looks gorgeous and I'm disappointed we never went there before having kids. Secret escapes seem to have a lot of hotels in those sort of places.

CarafeOfTheFinestWine · 01/08/2019 21:58

I’d go to New York

But suggesting hermitage inn on Nevis.

Or SA , no jet lag.

eurochick · 01/08/2019 22:16

Maldives.

We've been three times for a week. It's so relaxing you are straight into holiday mode when you arrive, so it's worth it even with the long flights.

FattyPeddledFuriously999 · 01/08/2019 23:08

Cuba (if not too far for a week)
Anywhere in Europe will be too cold for more than a couple of days.
San Francisco (again if not too far for a week)
