Do you think festival should have helped me?

Not really a big deal, but home and musing. Went to a festival this weekend, on my own. Had an ok time.

For context my stuff was really heavy, 8 man tent huge heavy, only one I could borrow and obviously had to bring it back.

The night before I’ve left my asthma inhaler ran out, and I’ve started bleeding and cramping from a minor procedure I had done last week. I had an asthma attack about a week ago too.

Anyway the car was absolutely miles away, through mud and hills. Sincerely worried I could not physically make it. So I thought I was sensible going to camp welfare and asking if there was any way to hire a buggy to take the stuff to the car. They said no but sent me to first aid to see if I could get an inhaler to manage the asthma doing the drag.

First aid wouldn’t give me a spare inhaler unless I was having an actual attack, not just feeling wheezy. No help available obviously for the cramping as I need a gp to assess that.

So basically no help.

Now I did make it to the car. Very very breathless and in pain, car got stuck in the mud and had to be towed. Stupid gear and I fell down a few hills too!

Hence not a big deal because while breathless I have made it home (2hr drive) and have my inhalers. And yes it’s my own fault for not picking up my spare!!

So just a hypothetical really, were they unreasonable not to help me when I asked? It could have ended differently.

How should 'they' have helped you? What would you have liled them to do exactly?
Did they have lots of volunteers just hanging around doing nothing?

Alleycat1 · 01/08/2019 08:42

Hell's teeth! OP only tried to hire a buggy to get her stuff back to her car, she didn't want people to pack her stuff up and carry it there. She has already admitted that she made errors of judgement so cut her some slack and/or rtft.

Ha thank you Alley and Mummy!

Dying to know what the deleted one said, must have been brutal Grin

Still bleeding btw, the way a coil works for contraception is basically you can never have sex again!!

I suspect the deleted message was spam, I've seen a few deletions this morning for that username.

Op,have you been tested for an STI? My dr asked me if i had sex with anyone knew before insertion as she said an sti can cause complications with the coil.

I dont think yabu to ask about hiring a trolly, especially since you could hire one on the way in!

Theres no way id have left someone with asthma and wheezy without an inhaler!!!

There are a few things you should have done differently, but as it was your first festival of course youre not going to know everything!

Well I admire your fortitude for lugging that beast of a tent OP! Don’t think you were wholly U -just a little daft taking an 8 man tent & for not always keeping a spare inhaler in car. DH is the same -he can go months & months without needing inhaler but then suddenly needs one & it’s out of date. He has never had a severe attack so I guess he just minimises his asthma.
I wouldn’t sit in judgement of you though cos I know it’s a lot easier when these things aren't suddenly thrust on you & a lot of us have made snap, unwise decisions at some point.
DD is going to Reading in a few weeks & I am already feeling anxious about it (petite 18 year old who leaps to the defence of others but not herself). She is meeting some friends there- not going with anyone (dropped out) so I am wondering how she is going to carry tent & back-pack.🙈 Sorry for the de-rail. Hope coil settles down.
