I am dressed and I am my age ... StarStarStar

Therefore I am dressing my age.

Yes. Exactly.

SteadyAreYouReady · 27/07/2019 17:32

32 and still in VS Pink, Hollister, Superdry...

NoddyHoldersSideburns · 27/07/2019 17:39

No. skinnies and t.shirts or shirts all the way for me, teamed up with stiletto heels or in winter, thigh high leather killer heeled boots.
My hair is and always will be touching the top of my bum.
I'm 59.
I don't give a shiny one what anyone else thinks.

Craftycorvid · 27/07/2019 17:44

Just saluting all those who wear exactly what they like to wear. My people! (I’m 52).

Havingarethink · 27/07/2019 17:49

47 and my style is feminine and preppy - think Taylor Swift, so probably not. I'm always complimented though.

lljkk · 27/07/2019 17:50

How would I know?
I'm 51. Find me some pics of what you think a 51 yr old wears & I'll tell you if that's like me.

DonnaDarko · 27/07/2019 17:51

I dress like me.

I've not changed the way I dress in years. I like hoodies and boots and bright hair.

TheHandsOfNeilBuchanan · 27/07/2019 17:53

@RozHuntleysStump me too! The number of times I've seen something in the children's section and thought, 'i'd wear that...'

Eaudear · 27/07/2019 17:53

I quite like leopard print, polka dots, hearts, stars, tulle skirts, the odd unicorn, a bit of a glittery accessory here and there - I don't know if it's dressing my age (I'm nearly 40) but it's quite far away from the Mumsnet 'polished' look.

IsobelRae23 · 27/07/2019 17:54

Probably not lol:- 38, normal attire a range of Karen Millen, Victoria Secret PINK, Hollister, Abercrombie, River Island, Top Shop, Mango, JC, and Debenhams. I find it hard to find decent clothes that for because of my chest, so stick with what does!

IsobelRae23 · 27/07/2019 17:56

@SteadyAreYouReady I found my person! Lol

thecatneuterer · 27/07/2019 17:57

I'm 57. Can't do polished to save my life. Tonight I'm planning to wear a crop top to a nightclub (I know MN hate crop tops - but I swear they suit me).

TheHandsOfNeilBuchanan · 27/07/2019 17:58

@pandarific I wore this to a recent kit day, got halfway through a performance panel/meeting and my chief exec, suddenly said 'hands have you got jungle animals on your dress?' 😁. Luckily our dress code isn't very formal

Alsohuman · 27/07/2019 18:04

I’m not entirely sure what dressing my age would involve. I rarely wear skirts, never show my upper arms or legs or cleavage, other than that nothing’s really off limits. My latest buy was that Zara spotted dress. I’m 65.

Mumsymumphy · 27/07/2019 18:07

I'm 45 and sometimes borrow my 26 year old DD's clothes, so no I don't dress my age.

Unless it's my daughter who dresses 'too old' for her age?? 🤣

Floopily · 27/07/2019 18:11

46 here. DH says I have the dress sense of Noel Fielding, I quite often think I look like an overgrown toddler. Sometimes I wear a lot of black, sometimes lots of bright clashing colours. Many trainers. Clothes are too much fun to 'dress your age'.

PinkBuffalo · 27/07/2019 18:11

Nope! I love bright colours and dress accordingly. Also spend a lot of time st the gym, so wearing bright shorts and t shirts and bright trainers. My friends say they can spot me a mile off Grin
As I am a bit too skinny at the moment, I sometimes get mistaken for a young man (short hair, short, t shirt etc) and that's even worse! When I start getting a bit of shape back I hope that will get better Grin

sheshootssheimplores · 27/07/2019 18:12

I’m going to say yes as I don’t show my bare knees or chest or upper arms and I think that’s what they say you should do post 40.

31RueCambon · 27/07/2019 18:18

My look is hopefully polished and feminine. But that is what I want to wear. It is not just people who are wearing hoodies and docs and tulle and tie dye who are "wearing exactly what they want to wear".

@Numbersaremything attaching pic of my foxy jumper which I got from Next years ago.

I get my pinafore dresses from Seasalt but recently bought a pattern to try make my own. As for woodland animals etc I get them from places like Manterey at Debenhams or just the odd piece from wherever. I also knit lovely things too. Clothes can be fun whatever your age or size. I love my style.

To ask would you say you dress your age?
Numbersaremything · 27/07/2019 18:30

I'm Cornish, so Seasalt features strongly in my wardrobe. Foxy jumper approved, but not quite the giant fox face I envisaged!

Numbersaremything · 27/07/2019 18:31

Bits & bobs from Gudrun Sjoden too, which I doubt many teenagers/20s would be seen in.

SargeantAngua · 27/07/2019 18:35

I'm not sure what age I dress - this time of year it's generally hand made denim skirt, cropped leggings and a t shirt. In winter the leggings and sleeves are longer... If that's not right for nearly 36 then im not Confused

SargeantAngua · 27/07/2019 18:36

*then I am Confused

Mintjulia · 27/07/2019 18:37

I’m 56 and dress to suit my body rather than age. I’m a runner so fairly lean and happy to wear shorts and t shirts but not crop tops, teetering heels or plunging neck lines.
Well said picsinred
