To ask who packs nicely?

I’ve been away with some family this week.
Oh my god!
Packing goals or what!?
I chuck everything back in my suitcase but in theirs they have packing cubes.
Some could write a dissertation on the art of folding.
They have bought so much more than me but my suitcase is bulging and theirs has space.
Aibu to ask who else packs well and has anyone any tips?

I fold and pack nicely so have as few creases in my clothes as possible. And loads of room left over to bring back presents

Packing cubes are the answer, they keep your bag neat and organised and make it easy to find stuff when you are there.
Rolling clothes like t-shirts makes them more compact and easier to pack.

Oohhhh watching this for tips as have to pack for holiday today! What about rolling clothes up rather than folding?

I do on the way, to make sure things aren't too creased and unpacking is quick. On the way home, I throw it in, and sit on the case to do it up if necessary, I'm not wasting precious holiday time packing. I do throw dirty things in first over the course of the holiday, then a sarong/light scarf as a divider then clean unworn things on top

Marie Kondo folding is the one.

I only make sure that the things I need first are easy to get too.

rolling & making sure anything potentially leaky is super secure.

Packing cubes are great. I have them in lots of different colours and sizes,

I put clothes that will need washing into a big bag, or two if needed, as I go along. When I come to pack to go home, I just put the big bag (s) into my case and pack everything else around it. Then when I unpack, I can lift the dirty washing straight out and get it in the machine

Socks and knickers etc rolled in any dead space would be my big tip. I can see how proper folding is a time sapping ball ache if you don't do it regularly. It is quick and easy for me because I've been doing it for years. Rolling probably an adequate substitute.

I chick everything in and sit on it to shut it. The first time we went away together my dh suggested we shared a case, after watching me pack he’s never suggested it again. If he’d heard of packing cubes he’d be using them. It’s like looking in a perfectly kept filing cabinet even at the end of a holiday.

He has to look away when I pack.

I fold most of my clothes konmari style in drawers, so when packing I just get them out and stack in the case like that, and unpack at the other end. Keeps things pretty neat and really low effort

Packing cubes have made a fantastic change to the way we all pack here, including 17y dd. We a;ways folded everything nice;y anyway but the packing cubes just make it more organised. I also pack smaller toiletries, medication and male up, etc. Into small plastic boxes which I can then just take out to use when there, rather than throwing them in or having various bags.

We each have different coloured/patterned packing cubes or varying sizes.

I use large plastic food bags to pack an entire outfit in, so you just lift out one bag at a time as needed ( the children find this an especially useful way to pack for school trips). Similar idea to packing cubes, but cheaper, take up less space, and bags are reused many times.

Another advocate of Marie Kondo folding, here. No need for packing cubes as it just seems wasteful. As I use her method anyway, it means my clothes are already folded and just need to be popped in my case.
It also gives you a better perspective on how much you're packing so you don't overpack (one thing I'm guilty of in the past).

I do a combination of MK plus rolling. I also pack really lightly, so take the smallest possible case with the smallest possible amount of stuff.

If you can't bear to do the whole thing, putting your pyjamas/nightshirt in one side of a double sided Eagle creek packing cube with whatever you use most on the other side (I put as Sonia does, my gym stuff but underwear/bras or first night outfit is equally useful), means you can just lift it straight out when you get to your destination.

They have these double sided ones that are half waterproofed so you can stuff dirty/wet clothes in there when you are done but they are super useful as a just a double sided dry packing.

I used packing cubes this year and I wondered why I'm only discovering them now. Everything neatly packed, easy to unpack.

For the kids I use IKEA freezer bags and put in pants, socks and their outfit for that day. My toiletries are put in bags too .
