The before and after pic. I think I'm putting them on right? Yet they end up cutting into him.

He's 7 months, 91st for weight, 75th length so he's rather round. Big tummy and thighs.
10.3 kg and these are Aldi 5+

I don't know if this photo will work as I've posted so many.

But this is how it ended up after loosening it as suggested. That bit underneath was laid flat underneath but now isn't.

Try Sainsbury’s own brand

The newborn nappies in Aldi are great but I found going up, they were awful

Sainsbury’s own brand are nice.
They aren’t so stiff around the top

mistermagpie · 25/07/2019 14:36

No it's not right. My DS the tabs stuck either side of the lion (same nappies) if that makes sense and it doesn't look like yours. As I say, DS is a chunky 2.5 year old and wearing the same size nappies, so I find it hard to believe they are too small, just that they maybe are cut wrong for your son? Try pull ups but I've never been a fan - leaked for both my boys.

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 25/07/2019 14:36

We're moving this weekend and Sainsbury's will become our local supermarket so it bodes well that people are suggesting these as an alternative!

It's all about cut. My 18 month old is in 5s so I agree with others that it's shape not size that's your issue. We have always found Tesco's brand (currently called Flo and Fred I think) the best for her. We really like pull ups but they don't necessarily work well if your little one is prone to poonamis.

Sammy867 · 25/07/2019 14:43

Try nappy pants, they seriously changed our lives for the better. My 3.5 year old is still in size 5 nappy pants for overnights (dry during day) and they fit well

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 25/07/2019 14:47

Oh god we have massive poonamis.

Swap to tesco 6 or 6+. My ds2 has been in them since about 7m old too. Tesco nappies stretch way better and hold leaks much better too. Theyre the best quality we've ever found.

Sandybval · 25/07/2019 14:51

I agree with posters who have said Sainsbury's are good, the waistband has a slight stretch to it at the top; so it does nip in snugly so nothing spills out, but above that it is ideal for round or wriggly babies! They're also very reasonably priced, and touch wood no leakages.

IamWaggingBrenda · 25/07/2019 14:56

I agree you might want to try a larger size and leave it a bit looser. Can I also say how sweet he is? I used to be a childminder and this little fellow is making me miss all my darling babies!

CoastalWave · 25/07/2019 14:57

I'm definitely confused! Mine were in 5+ at bedtime when they were 2 and 3 and a lot lot bigger than a baby!

Is it possible they're actually too big?! Bonkers as that sounds.

I'm not sure the banding alters that much but how they fit round the legs etc may well do. And I'm thinking babies definitely have bigger legs than toddlers.

Have you tried a 4?

RuskBaby · 25/07/2019 14:59

We used pampers, then switched to Aldi size 6/6+ for a long time but ran out in Cyprus recently and went to Lidl, only had 5’s and they fit so much better on my little one so have converted.

RubbingHimSourly · 25/07/2019 14:59

Just popping on to say those chub rolls made my ovaries clap 🥰🥰🥰

MaverickSnoopy · 25/07/2019 15:00

Lidl do "softer" nappies. I was converted from the aldi nappies which by comparison are quite hard. Not sure if they're worth a try, perhaps if the sainsburys ones don't work. I used to use sainsburys a few years back and I remember them being very long, quite firm like the aldi ones though. Could well have changed though.

Smokesandeats · 25/07/2019 15:22

Your DS is gorgeous, op!

Jaffaquake · 25/07/2019 15:28

Looks like it's on too tight to me, could it be too big?

When I worked as a nursery nurse, we were always told you should be able to fit two fingers snuggly, between baby's tummy and nappy.

AllSweetnessAndLight · 25/07/2019 15:29

Size 5 and size 5+ are the exact same size but the + means they are more absorbent. Try a size 6.
The pics look tight. I'm wondering is it because you need a more absorbent nappy or a bigger size. Are they leaking?

ElizaPancakes · 25/07/2019 15:30

I think it’s just having a wodgy baby tbh, mine was similar. It rolls down because of a fat belly!

If they’re not leaking then maybe try a bigger size if they’re not comfortable when first done up, it looks a little tight but then the attached pic is 7 years old so my memory might not be 100%

ElizaPancakes · 25/07/2019 15:31

Oops here’s my fat little baby!

Sweetooth92 · 25/07/2019 15:38

Another vote for nappy pants. We use the pampers ones and they’re so much better. Loads of stretch and really comfy. Never leak or have had any poo issues and he’s been in them over a year, since 5months

user27495824 · 25/07/2019 15:38

Looks way too small. The weight guides only work if your child is around 50th percentile. Try Lidl or Asda too. Lidl nappy pants are particularly good.

User12879923378 · 25/07/2019 15:39

My little girl has a belly as well and her nappies also roll down under her paunch Grin, but she doesn't get red marks. Both the Flo and Fred pull ups and the Flo and Fred tape nappies have nice soft stretchy wastebands so they don't gape. I can attest to the fact that the tape nappies will contain a poonami!

coffeeturner · 25/07/2019 15:40

I find all brands of nappies do this on my 2 when they're not wearing a vest.

ChocChocButtons · 25/07/2019 15:43

Gosh he’s so squishy and cute! Go up a size and just do the tabs up a bit tighter maybe.

Goldenbaby1 · 25/07/2019 15:43

I'm not any help but I know what you mean my ds gets red marks around his legs, bum etc but they don't hurt him. He's nearly 4 months and I use size 2 morrisons nappies, the asda and tesco ones did the same so I'm not sure what to do
