The before and after pic. I think I'm putting them on right? Yet they end up cutting into him.

He's 7 months, 91st for weight, 75th length so he's rather round. Big tummy and thighs.
10.3 kg and these are Aldi 5+

I don't think you need to go up a size but try loosening the sides .
Do the red marks actually bother your ds though? I can't see how bad they are. My dad gets some red marks sometimes but they fade quickly (eg in the bath ) and they don't hurt her.

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 25/07/2019 14:09

I will go up a size.

I really hate pull ups. They gather in the middle and give massive gaps.

Ah ok , I'd definitely try the nappy pants, they're soft and stretchy and will come up over his tummy, a bit like the wonders of a high waisted trouser!

peachgreen · 25/07/2019 14:10

Hmm we use the Pampers Premuim pull ups and they don't gather - they're lovely and soft and stretchy.

mnahmnah · 25/07/2019 14:10

Aldi nappies are fab, but they’re quite rigid round the top. Sainsbury’s own are much more stretchy round the top

Nameusernameuser · 25/07/2019 14:10

That nappy simply doesn't fit.
Change brands, Asda nappies are longer so fit higher up, I love them for DS. We used Tesco up to size 3 then had to change. Buy some small packets and trial them off, but 100% that nappy isn't the right size.

foreverhanging · 25/07/2019 14:11

No help but cuuuuuute belly

Pepperwand · 25/07/2019 14:13

If you're anywhere near a Lidl I would hugely recommend their nappy pants, way way better than any others I've tried including Aldi.

TheHandsOfNeilBuchanan · 25/07/2019 14:14

@peachgreen that's what we use and a Pampers babydry pull up over night as DS wees a lot and they seem to contain more, but don't feel as nice! No issues with gaps etc though with either.

saywhatwhatnow · 25/07/2019 14:16

I agree just try lots of different brands. Asda are good and Lidl! They are the right size I would say, just not fitting his shape well. My 14month old is only in 4/4+ so maybe try different sizes too.

EAIOU · 25/07/2019 14:16

That little body 🥰🥰 looks squishable!

I found the nutmeg nappies quite good!

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 25/07/2019 14:17

Ok great thanks for you help I will try another brand. I will get a couple and see how they differ.

In fact, we used to get on with Asda ones with DS2, I remember stocking up every time we went there. Perhaps that's why. (He was even rounder than DS3!)

TheSandgroper · 25/07/2019 14:17

I get what you mean about his weight vs their size but I wonder if he is broader in the hip than the baby they used as their model? Either side to side or front to back?

Perhaps get a tape measure out to start? Those pictures look as if he is a bulldog trying to wear a greyhounds outfit.

MrsBosh · 25/07/2019 14:19

Oh, those legs and tummy - so cute!
My DS was similarly shaped. He's 18m in size 6s.
I use Pampers Premium Protection as found Aldi fit smaller and tighter on his body - like on your DS. Try different brands. I know it's a pain as Aldi such good value!

FlugTheJug · 25/07/2019 14:21

Squishy baby 😍

Rarfy · 25/07/2019 14:21

No advice but thanks for this. Dd is 25th centile and in Aldi size 3 at 7 months. She will be around 16lb 7oz now I would guess and hers end up under her belly more often than not even though I wouldn't say she has a belly. They're always gaping at the from and back so I can see down them after she's had them on a bit.

GookledyGobb · 25/07/2019 14:21

I think you’re not pulling the slack round to the front. In your before pic the nappy is tight vertically from the waistband to down between his thighs - you need to pull the “pocket” more around to the front so that straightening his legs doesn’t pull the nappy down

KurriKurri · 25/07/2019 14:21

Probabaly terribly oldfashioned but with your gorgeous boys shape, i'd go cloth nappy - then you can adjust and try different folding methods to fit him snuggly. I think the waistband needs to be round his tummy - but it is slipping down round his groin/top of legs and that is cutting into him.
I don;t think youare doing anything wrong - but it looks as if in order to fit his tummy you have gone for a bigger size that is bunching up between his legs because there is too much nappy below his waist.

Can ask if he is crawling yet ? Once he gets really mobile his shapw will change - and you might even find you have to go smaller again. I think it is a case of ignore sizes or ages on packets and try to find a brand that fits your baby as he is at the moment, and be prepared to review and go up or down as necessary.
In this hot weather I'd be inclined to take his nappy off and sit him on a thick towel - the heat will make it more likely that anything tight will rub him. Just put a nappy on him for going out and night time.

Springhassprung11 · 25/07/2019 14:23

It looks to me like you haven't flattened the flaps at the sides flat before velcroing the tags on top down (sort of spread them round the baby before fastening the tabs down). My partner does that and it looks like your photo.

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 25/07/2019 14:25

He's not crawling yet but really wants to! Soon I think.

I think I will take his nappy off. I did earlier but he weed. I didn't think to sit him on a towel!!

With regards to the cloth nappies, I struggle to keep on top of the washing with 5 of us. The thought of cloth nappies honestly sends me into a sweat.
I go back to work soon, I couldn't do it.

I know people with more kids that do it, and I think they are amazing!

I've tried adjusting, moving, pulling, flattening. I've changed his nappy so many times today to make it 'right' but they all end up the same.

I've loosened it as per other peoples suggestions, I will check it again in a min and see if it's helped.

My DD is 7 months and also very chunky, mostly around the thighs. She wears Tesco Ultra Dry in size four. They have a bit of stretch around the waist that seems to make them fit more comfortably.

mistermagpie · 25/07/2019 14:27

They just look a poor fit. My DS is 2.5 and wears Aldi size 5+ (and he's not a slim Jim) so I'm baffled that they would be too small for a 7 month old. My DS is quite short though... his don't look like that though, they are more pulled up near his belly button, yours look like they are down at his hips.

Try a different brand.

ColaFreezePop · 25/07/2019 14:30

The nappy is too small.

The tabs are suppose to have a space in between but not look tight. Yours looks tight.

I suggest you go up a size and also try a different brand.

We found Aldi nappies fine from size 0-3, Lidl nappies fine in sizes 1-3 but then use a mixture of Asda and Sainsburys. The difference is where they stretch, so we found we needed nappies with elastic over the back rather than the legs.

MatchSetPoint · 25/07/2019 14:31

Try pull ups, both my children had folded lob sided nappies so as soon as I could I moved them to pull-ups, if you still want a traditional nappy why not try activefit pampers?
