Anyone else think that was possibly the smuggest walk into Downing Street ever?

Was I alone in praying she would trip up?

It’s easy to have a go at people but honestly. Some on this thread sound like Corbyn. No ideas just a protestor. If you think you can do better then stand yourself, become a councillor. Do something to change the status quo

MintChocAddict · 24/07/2019 20:54

Go for it stuck

People need to get angry. It's the only way to avoid sleepwalking into a Trump like nightmare.

Fibbke · 24/07/2019 20:55

This thread is nasty and I've reported it.

Yesicancancan · 24/07/2019 20:57

Not just me. I sighed inwardly seeing her smug racist face being appointed. She was our local MP and at the time was a shit stirring racist.

sunglasses123 · 24/07/2019 20:58

I agree Fibbke. Just nasty about someone who they don’t even know and some people just like to moan and make horrible comments with no solutions.

Yesicancancan · 24/07/2019 20:59

Reported for what ... having an opinion? The very check of it. I’m sure many of us would love to a politician, however my parents could afford to bestow that opportunity on me.

MintChocAddict · 24/07/2019 21:00

Sound like Corbyn for being appalled by someone with hateful views such as Patel's?? I won't apologise for that.

I don't think any of us claim to have the answer to Brexit sunglasses or the mess of UK politics in general, but many of us can see the country plunging further into crisis with the crowd of liars, cheats and incompetents currently being assembled.

OP posts:
jasjas1973 · 24/07/2019 21:00

Don't like Patel but she is nowhere as near as bad as T.May (yet) who was as cruel and as nasty as they come.

Yesicancancan · 24/07/2019 21:00

Could NOT afford

Lumene · 24/07/2019 21:01

Comments like ‘bitch’ or ‘cunt’ are nasty I agree.

Describing politicians as dishonest or not clever is fair comment in a democracy.

Any comments I have made here are based on personal interactions or first hand accounts of the same.

Alsohuman · 24/07/2019 21:01

@jasjas1973, you might want check Patel out. She’s worse than Thatcher. Far worse.

jasjas1973 · 24/07/2019 21:02

@sunglasses123

Well done!

You are the first poster to mention or blame Corbyn in a thread that is absolutely nothing to do with him.

Hithere12 · 24/07/2019 21:04

I’m going to get flamed for this, my Dad is a Muslim, I’m half Pakistani and what I’ll say is most muslims I’ve met are very anti LGBT. I’ve also seen research that shows between 50-80% think it should be outlawed. People want for diversity but don’t realise statistically a lot of Muslims hold very harsh views about things like LGBT rights, death penalty.

I only saw my Dad about once a month but his friends/family were anti gay and I honestly think I would probably be if I was brought up around that environment. All I’m saying is her views and the way she voted makes complete sense to me.

jasjas1973 · 24/07/2019 21:05

So far, Patel has never really been in a position of power, May has, as of course was Thatcher.
Could well turn out to worse than both of course.

Thatcher was a beacon of liberal compassion compared to May

MintChocAddict · 24/07/2019 21:05

I agree Fibbke. Just nasty about someone who they don’t even know and some people just like to moan and make horrible comments with no solutions.

Really Sunglasses?? You don't really need to know someone personally to have contempt for their openly and publicly voiced views.
Survival of the fittest is Patel's way and that in my opinion is shameful.

Just out of interest. Since you've stated that none of us have solutions, what would yours be?

ThanosSavedMe · 24/07/2019 21:08

DH used to know her and says she is as thick as shit. He can’t stand her and doesn’t understand how she’s got to where she is.

Merryoldgoat · 24/07/2019 21:09

@Hithere12

She’s not a Muslim...

Are you saying Asian people are generally anti-LGBT?

I don’t like her but we need to be accurate.

123rd · 24/07/2019 21:10

She's not a cunt, as she really does lack the warmth and depth....
I can't wait till I can use that ! What a brilliant thing to write!

HorridHenrysNits · 24/07/2019 21:11

I have never seen any reason to use bitch as an insult for women more than men, its better interchangeable, but feel free to use another insult if preferred. Really the more important point to take here is how utterly fucking astonishing that whole Israel thing was. And it is not echo chamber-esque to point that out. One could be entirely in agreement with her position on the Golan Heights, whilst also understanding that a minister having secret meetings that our government are unaware of with members of other governments is a no no. There must be some pro death penalty MPs who, you know, haven't done that.

ProudAunty2nine · 24/07/2019 21:11

Reminded me of a young Aunt Lydia - God help us all indeed

Namechange169376 · 24/07/2019 21:12

She's dreadful. Met her on a college trip to parilment a few years ago. She was and still is awful.

LilyMumsnet · 24/07/2019 21:13

Hi folks,

We're just swinging by to say that whilst robust debate is fine, civility is key. We will remove any posts that we feel cross the line.

Sistersis · 24/07/2019 21:17

You're complaining about her/them. But come a general election people will still vote Tory so let's save the contempt

HorridHenrysNits · 24/07/2019 21:17

If the use of the term bitch is no longer accepted on here, a notoriously sweary board, you should probably spell that out clearly HQ.

Anyway, with that in mind, the dreadfully naughty person Priti Patel wouldnt still have the whip under ordinary circumstances, after that Israel stunt. Her continued presence in the parliamentary party was a sign of desperation, her return to office even more so.

KingscoteStaff · 24/07/2019 21:18

She was hopeless as Hague’s Press Sec and I see no sign she’s got any more competent.
