Anyone else think that was possibly the smuggest walk into Downing Street ever?

Was I alone in praying she would trip up?

Gooigi · 25/07/2019 22:06

Yeah taking xenia seriously is probably a mistake.

TheBigBallOfOil · 25/07/2019 22:20

That’s amused me.

sionnachbeag · 25/07/2019 22:25

Doesn't take much.

TheBigBallOfOil · 25/07/2019 22:28

You lefties are the gift that just keeps on giving ...

2Rebecca · 25/07/2019 22:36

Has AIBU been taken over by momentum? Some serious knicker twisting going on over the new Tory cabinet.

sionnachbeag · 25/07/2019 22:46

Or are normal people just shocked at the appointments of the proven corrupt, liars, and failures that have been appointed ?

ssd · 25/07/2019 22:55

Still seen nothing positive about Patel.

Lumene · 25/07/2019 22:59

I am deeply disturbed by Momentum and still think Priti Patel is dire.

Lumene · 25/07/2019 23:07

Why are people so scared of Corbyn?

Well for example his attitude to terrorist grouts like the IRA and Hamas. His anti-semitism. The fact MI5 view him as a security risk to our democratic country.

sionnachbeag · 25/07/2019 23:14

So give an example of Corbyn being antisemitic? Terrosits? So he met with elected MPs from Sinn fien amd activists, at the same time others were ?

Risk to.our democracy? Hahahah

ReadyForActionRyderSir · 25/07/2019 23:22

Not a fan of PP either. Also quite annoyed that she is now representing female ethnic minorities in senior positions. I'd rather be represented by a goat tbh. She is vile, and doesn't really try to appear otherwise.

The whole cabinet though makes me nervous. Shock

ReadyForActionRyderSir · 25/07/2019 23:48

It's not just Mumsnetters who feel this way either 🤷🏽‍♀️

I am just pissed of at labour. They need to get their bloody finger out, put in a decent leader and blow the Tory’s out the water

GrimDamnFanjo · 26/07/2019 01:01

It's the toughest department to run in Whitehall. She doesn't seem to have enough experience. She'll not last.

Patroclus · 26/07/2019 01:36

She one of the few people who I honestly think is evil. If she was a nurse or something I can imagine the sort of things she would do. You can see it in her horrible evil smirk.

Patroclus · 26/07/2019 01:52

This place has always had sense. Its the Daily Mail readers that have suddenly flooded the place which is changing it.

Hilarious to see tories playing ID politics.

Own your stupidity, look at the country and what you've done.

BigChocFrenzy · 26/07/2019 04:08

Priti Patel paid £1,000 an hour as adviser to firm supplying MoD

Hopefully, she'll stop her nice little earner, now she's Home Sec

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/jul/25/priti-patel-earning-1000-an-hour-as-adviser-to-firm-supplying-mod

“It is unacceptable for any cabinet minister to be a paid advisor for a company with government contracts.
The only interests a home secretary is working for should be the country’s.

Patel must give up her role with Visasat immediately or leave the cabinet again.”

Flyingquestion · 26/07/2019 06:53

This with bells on.

But apparently they can’t see beyond their own navel while Rome burns Angry.

Iggly · 26/07/2019 07:34

Given that our current government continues to maintain strong relationships with the like of Saudi Arabia and other shitty countries, I’m afraid I can’t get that excited about this.

Same for the Tories and their Islamophobia.

And we have a sitting prime minister who’s used openly racist and xenophobic language.

The one before that had Go Home vans commissioned and has the Windrush scandal to be blamed for.

So again, why are people scared of Corbyn? Is it because it’s ok to be racist towards brown people? That’s why the actions of May and Johnson are just brushed over?

Fibbke · 26/07/2019 07:40

Noone that watched Corbyn being absolutely pulverised by BJ yesterday could possibly be scared of him!

urbanlife · 26/07/2019 07:42

Boris on his very first day took Corbyn to the cleaners. Expect things to get much harder for labour now May has gone and Boris gets into his stride.

MaxNormal · 26/07/2019 07:42

2Rebecca the fact that you think people's dismay at a hard-right Brexiteer cabinet of dubious characters means that we're Momentum supporters unfortunately says it all.
I'd imagine that quite a lot of Tories are appalled too.

Iggly · 26/07/2019 07:52

The one interesting thing for me, and I wonder if all the attacks on Corbyn are because of this, he must have helped increase Labour’s vote in the last GE and the Tories saw theirs reduced.

More people voted for a JC labour than an Ed one.

13.6mn votes Tory and 12.9mn voted for Labour in 2017.

In 2015, the Tories achieved 11.3mn to Labour’s 9.3mn.

I can see why the Tories are scared of JC and are working hard to discredit JC and Labour almost every day....

I do wish people would do their own thinking on those instead of relying on opinions being fed to them by Facebook ads or opinion pieces (I don’t post or repost/share any politician shit on FB and as a result I don’t get these adverts).

Do some research and reading and work out what you believe in.

Fibbke · 26/07/2019 07:55

I watch bbc parliament, read a paper, own a big house and run my own business. I've worked it out thanks, and its not Jeremy Corbyn.

MrPan · 26/07/2019 08:01

It really is tricky to find who is the most loathsome in this cabinet. Patel is putting up a good show at least.

There is a view that this cabinet isn't designed to last. A GE later this year and Johnson and his boys reckon this is the best to fight that election. IF they get back in (and there's nothing atm that stands up against that) then it will all change.

Patel walk - saw it for a couple of secs. - wasn't she walking like someone who isn't practiced in high heels? Though that would surprise me.
