Amazon prime - who ibu?

SiliconHeaven · 21/07/2019 13:18

My ‘d’bro (who has form for being a knob and I think is narcissistic) posted a ‘funny’ meme on the family WhatsApp group of a pile of amazon parcels with the caption ‘don’t drink and prime’
My ds countered with a link to a news story about amazon workers striking over bad working conditions www.theverge.com/2019/7/16/20696154/amazon-prime-day-2019-strike-warehouse-workers-inhumane-conditions-the-rate-productivity
Bro is offended, left the group straight away and SIL posted angry faces and said ds had upset him with his ‘disapproving’ response.
I think dbro is the unreasonable one (and an arse). AIBU?

Your son was a total dick, I don't think your brother flounced so much as probably left because your son is sanctimonious and hypocritical.

Redglitter · 21/07/2019 16:00

@OKBobble were not confused but you are. You've got it completely the wrong way round

ChicCroissant · 21/07/2019 16:00

I hope this isn't real. Surely no-one could lack self-awareness this much.

YABU, OP. Your son doesn't see the problem in having an account himself but likes to put someone else down? I had him down as a fun sponge but your update has moved him on to a rather nasty hypocritical fun sponge. And yet to you, it's your brother that is the arse. Yet you didn't point out on the group that your son has an Amazon account?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 21/07/2019 16:02

So, 23 years old and a hypocritical virtue signaller already?

OP check out Amazon for extra large mattresses, your DS will need one ready for his eventual fall.... Smile

Purpletigers · 21/07/2019 16:03

Your update just reinforces my opinion that your son was being a dick .

pikapikachu · 21/07/2019 16:17

Your son has Prime - fucking hell what a twat move.

Derbee · 21/07/2019 16:17

Everyone should grow up

VivienneHolt · 21/07/2019 18:40

Your son having an Amazon account makes it even worse - not just a virtue signaller but a hypocritical one! I don’t think I would want to be in a WhatsApp group with him either.

plasterboots · 21/07/2019 19:01

Stop getting involved with your 23 year olds battles ..... it's odd!

PositiveVibez · 21/07/2019 19:10

I know everyone sticks up for their kids, but come on, even you must know that what your son put was a dick move.

My sils husband would do something similar on my husbands family chat group. And we would all talk about what a twat he is behind his back.

In fact, the chat is not used for chit chat now, just important stuff, because everyone got sick of him.

Soubriquet · 21/07/2019 19:14

23 years old?

Dick!

I bet he does this a lot and that’s why your brother flounced

K1ssIt · 21/07/2019 19:19

We share articles that are interesting in our family group chat but don't save the article and wait until a joke is made about the topic to share it. Why didn't your son just share the article when he initially read it if he felt it interesting.

Today for example, my Mother has shared an article about someone local to us being cruel to animals. She didn't save the article and only decide to share it after I make a joke about dogs and it sounds like your some chose to share that to make his uncle look bad. Your son has taken a boring amazon joke in a group chat and used it as an opportunity to share "interesting" articles that make his uncle look bad and himself look virtuous and it's your brother you call a narcissist?

rockingchaircandle · 21/07/2019 19:52

I think your son is great to be interested in workers' rights and there should have been no issue with posting a link to that article.

Not sure why it has to be 'being a pita' or virtue signalling unless he's actually a prolific user of Amazon prime and a hypocrite. Good on him! People don't like to be reminded of the cost of their easy shopping on others' lives.

You're brother sounds like he needs to grow up a bit!

taylorowmu · 21/07/2019 19:54

Yep. He is. Total hypocrisy.

IvanaPee · 21/07/2019 20:00

God. Just what the world needs. Another 23 year old virtue-signaller to teach us all how things should be. 🙄

Flouncing was ridiculous but your son sounds a right twat.

SagAloojah · 21/07/2019 20:01

I say well done to your son for pissing off a narc.

I assume your bro was implying he had spent a lot of Prime recently? Rampant consumerism is nothing to be proud of.

My cousins (male and female sibs) posts pictures of their boot filled with designer shopping bags. I think we're supposed to be envious or impressed but we're thinking how dickish.

Mydogmylife · 21/07/2019 20:08

Sorry, another one who thinks your son is a bit of a dick. Your db may well be a knob as you say, but 2 wrongs and all that. Your update that he has a prime membership adds a level of hypocrisy to the dickishness

taylorowmu · 21/07/2019 20:08

I assume your bro was implying he had spent a lot of Prime recently?

Maybe he just thought it was a funny meme?

I mean I don't even drink but I would share it if it came up because it's funny. Just a play on words.

K1ssIt · 21/07/2019 20:23

I assume your bro was implying he had spent a lot of Prime recently? Rampant consumerism is nothing to be proud of.

The son has his own amazon prime membership so he's a total hypocrite if he's shaming other people for shopping on amazon when he does the same thing himself.

Whatisinaname1 · 21/07/2019 20:28

Well flouncing is pathetic but being a hypocrite and doing smug dick move is worse so ds wins on that.

PinkFlowerFairy · 21/07/2019 20:30

Hes 23?! He should know better. Has he got form for pissing on peoples jokes before?

Dont think Id stay in a group with him if he dis that to me tbh.

My mil sometimes passively aggresive posts articles after something ive posted. But at least its on her own fb,not in a group or Id challenge her.

Your sons being an idiot and youve got mum goggles!

londonrach · 21/07/2019 20:33

All being silly but your ds slightly ahead of the others. Why did your ds think it to post that. Silly boy

TheJellyBabyMadeMeDoIt · 21/07/2019 20:33

DS sounds like a bit of a now it all joy sucker

An earnest 23 year old out to teach the grown ups a thing or two.

He could have had a reasonable discussion about it another time, to shit on a jokey message in a family group chat shows that he isn't as socially mature as he clearly likes to think.

justgivemewine · 21/07/2019 20:34

Sounds like everyone just needs to grow up

TheJellyBabyMadeMeDoIt · 21/07/2019 20:34

*know it all
