Amazon prime - who ibu?

My ‘d’bro (who has form for being a knob and I think is narcissistic) posted a ‘funny’ meme on the family WhatsApp group of a pile of amazon parcels with the caption ‘don’t drink and prime’
My ds countered with a link to a news story about amazon workers striking over bad working conditions www.theverge.com/2019/7/16/20696154/amazon-prime-day-2019-strike-warehouse-workers-inhumane-conditions-the-rate-productivity
Bro is offended, left the group straight away and SIL posted angry faces and said ds had upset him with his ‘disapproving’ response.
I think dbro is the unreasonable one (and an arse). AIBU?

"Your DS was being a tedious virtue-signaller,"

Yep.

Did you ask him why he felt the need to do that?

I say that with someone who has Friends and Family who rely on their jobs with Amazon.

Is your DS an ethical vegan? I am but I've left FB groups because of his type.

TheHandsOfNeilBuchanan · 21/07/2019 13:47

Your DS sounds very irritating. Your brother posted a jokey meme about online shopping whilst drink and regretting/forgetting purchases. Your son responds with a diatribe about Amazon working conditions. Your brother and SIL may have flounced, or if as I suspect this kind of virus signalling/ranty behaviour is common from your son they might just be fed up with it and the easiest thing to do was leave the group.

Aprillygirl · 21/07/2019 13:48

I think the meme your DB posted was quite funny and your DS is a bit of a dick for making him feel bad over a joke. YABU.

Conkeee · 21/07/2019 13:49

Your DS sounds very annoying

pikapikachu · 21/07/2019 13:49

Both are unreasonable - your son for posting the link (unnecessary joyless virtue signaling) and your brother for flouncing. The meme is funny imo.

PutyourtoponTrevor · 21/07/2019 13:52

How pathetic, the whole scenario and you for posting it

Ponoka7 · 21/07/2019 13:52

Also, just warn your DS that if he ever has a GA, the Anaesthetist will warn him to keep off Ebay/Amazon for 24 hours.

PCohle · 21/07/2019 13:54

Your DS sounds deeply irritating.

NaomiFromMilkShake · 21/07/2019 13:54

Your son sounds like a dullard...

Celebelly · 21/07/2019 13:54

Christ, what a miserable pair.

EggysMom · 21/07/2019 13:55

I have family who do this - I'll post a funny meme, and they'll counter with some really serious response. Because it's on FB I can delete their serious response as 'missing the point'; I don't know if WhatsApp lets you do the same?

Oysterbabe · 21/07/2019 13:55

Everyone was being unreasonable.

Tink88 · 21/07/2019 13:55

How self righteous ds id

Luckingfovely · 21/07/2019 13:57

I think it needs to be pointed out that the minimum age for having a Facebook account is 13 years old.

I suggest you take them off Facebook until they are old enough to use it sensibly.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 21/07/2019 13:57

I think your son was really rude. I'd be embarrassed if my son responded to a light-hearted joke with a nasty dig at his uncle. He has, in effect, called your brother shallow and uncaring.
I don't think I'd want to remain on a group chat where I felt judged and insulted by my own nephew either.

NaomiFromMilkShake · 21/07/2019 13:57

Ok dullard was the wrong word, but by God he sounds dull. and tedious.

As a previous OP said, the fact that your brother has previous bears no relationship to his post.

That said your DB and SIL overreacted, but then did they, if your DS is constantly carrying on like this and I strongly suspect that he is.

DarlingNikita · 21/07/2019 13:57

The morals of the issue aside, I don't really get the DS's reaction. As someone else has said, it's not like your DB posted 'Amazon Prime guy was late and I've complained' or anything like that.

Crinkle77 · 21/07/2019 13:59

Your ds is unreasonable. You're brother posted a funny joke and she had to come over all sanctimonious.

MyFokMarelize · 21/07/2019 14:00

There must be a bloody long queue at the grip shop today! These threads just keep on coming.
What is actually the matter with everyone? I can't believe the OP of this has nothing better to do than get involved with this childish nonsense and then post about it!

WorraLiberty · 21/07/2019 14:00

Your DS was being a tedious virtue-signaller, and your brother has childishly overreacted.

This 100% ^

As an aside, does your DS have any sense of humour at all?

taylorowmu · 21/07/2019 14:01

You think your brother was unreasonable for using amazon?

TheStarChild · 21/07/2019 14:01

This meme has been doing the rounds for a while. Your son needs to lighten up a bit.

Amazon prime - who ibu?
Sandybval · 21/07/2019 14:02

They probably just couldn't be arsed with getting linked an article following a jokey meme. I wouldn't leave the group or whatever, I think that's an overreaction but DS sounds annoying.

isitwhatitis · 21/07/2019 14:02

No need to queue, Amazon sell them too.
