Amazon prime - who ibu?

SiliconHeaven · 21/07/2019 13:18

My ‘d’bro (who has form for being a knob and I think is narcissistic) posted a ‘funny’ meme on the family WhatsApp group of a pile of amazon parcels with the caption ‘don’t drink and prime’
My ds countered with a link to a news story about amazon workers striking over bad working conditions www.theverge.com/2019/7/16/20696154/amazon-prime-day-2019-strike-warehouse-workers-inhumane-conditions-the-rate-productivity
Bro is offended, left the group straight away and SIL posted angry faces and said ds had upset him with his ‘disapproving’ response.
I think dbro is the unreasonable one (and an arse). AIBU?

Dick move from your son.

Flouncing is dickish too.

However, if your son is an adult and has firm for tedious virtue signalling crap pointedly aimed at his uncle, then the flounce is only 9/10 dickish not 10/10.

Whatever I think about your brother though - you need to tell your son to get some manners.

To be fair, there could be a chance the DS has form for this sort of chip pissing.

So maybe it was the last straw for the bro - hence him leaving the group.

If it was a one-off, then leaving would be an overreaction.

WorraLiberty

I haven't heard that expression for years. Grin

homeishere · 21/07/2019 14:17

Your DS sounds like a busy body bore. I hope he never does any online shopping.

ysmaem · 21/07/2019 14:21

I think you all need to grow up tbh

GabsAlot · 21/07/2019 14:24

Everyone doesnt come out well over this

I suppose your ds only shops at local independants then

2toe · 21/07/2019 14:30

It all seems ridiculously dramatic, I just couldn’t be bothered working myself up to posting links or getting upset!

miaCara · 21/07/2019 14:30

It is very tedious when these holier than thou sorts come on to every post with a response like your DSs .
I have ,unfortunately, 3 of them in my close circle. I have blocked 2 of them so far and the 3rd is on his ( they are all men) last chance.

The 3 are all,in varying degrees, sneery types that cant stand anyone else being better than them . Its not a good character trait and perhaps your best option is to try and steer your DS away from being 'that guy'. Nobody likes that guy you know.

TSSDNCOP · 21/07/2019 14:33

No one comes out of it well, but DS needs to unclench. He sounds a lot like my nephew, his mother thinks he’s a terrific wit.

RedHatsDoNotSuitMe · 21/07/2019 14:44

I don't think these are the responses the OP was hoping for

ContactLight · 21/07/2019 14:46

How old is your son, and how often does your bro behave like a twat?

LoveGrowsWhere · 21/07/2019 14:55

If your DS is a teen then I suspect he's just being typical of his age group. Look at groups like extinction rebellion & they're full of teens filled with indignation over their future & a belief oldies are out of touch. They might be right or wrong but they are interested in the world. Certainly an adult who flounces is far more juvenile.

SiliconHeaven · 21/07/2019 14:55

I don’t think DS was being a dick, I think he just thought it was interesting. He has a prime account too. He’s 23
I appreciate you all exposing that it did actually come across as twatish of my DS, makes me accept bro’s reaction a bit more 🙂
He is a knob all the time. He gets really angry if someone interrupts him or he doesn’t think they’re giving him their full attention. Like if a waiter comes to take your order he’s angry with him for taking our attention away from him sort of thing.

SiliconHeaven · 21/07/2019 15:02

I thought my brother was bu for flouncing, not for using amazon.
I see we have the posting police again who get to decide what is or isn’t worthy of posting about on Mumsnet. Hmm (tossers) Grin

MyDcAreMarvel · 21/07/2019 15:08

Ds was in the wrong, cant stand immature virtue signallers.

taylorowmu · 21/07/2019 15:10

I don’t think DS was being a dick, I think he just thought it was interesting. He has a prime account too. He’s 23

I think the fact that he also uses amazon makes him a huge dick.

CassianAndor · 21/07/2019 15:13

Your DS was being a real dick if he posted that whilst also having a prime account! What a hypocrite.

Your DB also sounds a knob, but in a different way.

OKBobble · 21/07/2019 15:15

Are people getting confused?

DS posts joke meme.

DB/SIL post about poor conditions etc and flounce. Ie. They virtue signal.

Does DB or Sil work for Amazon? Why wouldn't they take a joke as a joke?

taylorowmu · 21/07/2019 15:15

Are people getting confused?

I think you might be.

SiliconHeaven · 21/07/2019 15:16

Wrong way round okbobble, DS was being the dick virtue signaller

OP posts:
Aprillygirl · 21/07/2019 15:17

So your DS is a hypocrite to boot. Jesus OP why are you not embarrassed by your son's pompous behaviour?

Isthisafreename · 21/07/2019 15:26

@SiliconHeaven - I don’t think DS was being a dick

Maybe consider how you might feel if the situation had been reversed and your ds had posted the meme and your db had posted the link. Would you have considered your db a dick for doing so?

If yes, then your opinion on ds' behaviour is clouded by parental blindness. If not, then fair enough, although I do think they were both dicks.

PCohle · 21/07/2019 15:46

I think your view of the situation is being clouded by your feelings towards your brother.

Your son posting that whilst having a prime account is hilariously hypocritical.

ChesterDrawsDoesntExist · 21/07/2019 15:53

Son was a snotty prick. DBro and DSIL were drama llamas to flounce our. All were wrong. And the don't drink and Prime meme is silly but a funny poke at getting drunk and overbuying online. Nothing worth a lecture on the bad working practices of a company.
