At a wedding in the middle of nowhere and have to entertain fed up 1 year old for several hours - the only thing here is a pool. I’m a huge idiot who forgot swimming nappies, and only bought trunks!!!! What do I do? Normal nappy? No nappy?! Or just not swim which would be sad as DS loves it and no idea how else to fill some time 😫

I'm not sure I'd take him in without a swim nappy tbh.

Namechangesareus · 20/07/2019 11:22

Just not swim I’m afraid.

Cloudsurfing · 20/07/2019 11:22

Have you asked at reception? Maybe they have some swim nappies?

JacquesHammer · 20/07/2019 11:22

Nowhere in the pool part of the complex that sells swim nappies?

mirror9 · 20/07/2019 11:22

Ask at reception as they might sell them. Also check in the changing room as sometimes they have a vending machine with them like for tampons.

Littleelffriend · 20/07/2019 11:23

I would just go without

MeanMrMustardSeed · 20/07/2019 11:23

Look out for another family and offer to buy a couple from them

Rubbinghimsweetly2 · 20/07/2019 11:25

A normal nappy will be useless. Can you mine his trunks with anything?

Sexnotgender · 20/07/2019 11:25

Ask at the pool if they have any. Or don’t swim.

Kannet · 20/07/2019 11:26

A normal nappy will be fine. It will just swell a lot with water

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 20/07/2019 11:27

Do NOT go in without! If he poos they'll have to close and clean the pool, and no-one will be able to swim, not just you.

Wildorchidz · 20/07/2019 11:27

I would just go without

Can you clarify?
You would go without a swim or you would go without a swim nappy?
Hopefully you mean the former

crispysausagerolls · 20/07/2019 11:28

He literally just did a poo so he won’t do one it’s more for weeing (but don’t all children wee in the pool)

This is a very very basic Countryside hotel with nothing like that (shop or vending machine) but will double check at reception and also ask another family good idea

Wildorchidz · 20/07/2019 11:29

And a normal nappy won’t be fine. It will swell with water and be very uncomfortable for your baby. Also it will not contain faeces if he does do a poo.

JacquesHammer · 20/07/2019 11:30

In the situation of not being able to obtain a nappy, you can’t just go without.

It would be very selfish.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 20/07/2019 11:31

How middle of nowhere are you? Ask at reception if they have any or know of anywhere nearby.

kateandme · 20/07/2019 11:31

nearest shop?

crispysausagerolls · 20/07/2019 11:33

The nearest town is 15 miles away and we don’t have a car as are abroad. Honestly a shop is not an option.

If i can’t buy from someone just won’t take him swimming! I wasn’t sure if a normal nappy would suffice

OP posts:
Jessbow · 20/07/2019 11:51

What did people do before swim nappies were invented?

trotesio · 20/07/2019 12:04

You can't take him in a normal nappy, it can swell and if the bead inside come into contact with his skin he can get a chemical burn.

As he is not toilet trained, you should not take him in wearing no nappy either.

kateandme · 20/07/2019 12:05

oh sorry.
are you there for a while.could a concierge get him some.

PotteringAlong · 20/07/2019 12:07

As an aside, swim nappies don’t contain wee, they just contain poo. But no, Don’t take him in the pool without one.

Swim nappies don't keep wee in... how could they?

Therefore ALL babies are weeing in the pool.

crispysausagerolls · 20/07/2019 12:10

Couldn’t find one so not taking him - the pool is actually very cold anyway as we are chilling by it and DH went in and had to get out! So I wouldn’t have taken him in anyway 😬🤦🏻‍♀️
