At a wedding in the middle of nowhere and have to entertain fed up 1 year old for several hours - the only thing here is a pool. I’m a huge idiot who forgot swimming nappies, and only bought trunks!!!! What do I do? Normal nappy? No nappy?! Or just not swim which would be sad as DS loves it and no idea how else to fill some time 😫

How come all these babies of yesteryear never pooed in the pool? How was it avoided? I remember both of my children going through an irritating stage of pooing in the bath (I think it was the relaxing effect of the warm water???) so I could never have risked them in a swimming pool. I’m intrigued as to why it was never a problem according to posters with older children pre-swim nappy times.

Why were people saying "it's selfish people like you......." wen the OP hadn't actually done anything yet? Some people on here are such dicks!!!

OP I would've sent him in naked. Pearl clutch alert

No swim nappies in my day, we just took our chances :-)

Either they didnt poo (mostly) or if they did it was contained in their trunks/costume. I dont remember either of mine pooing in a swimming pool but if they had or anyone else’s had I wouldn’t have expected the pool to be emptied unless the poo was squitty, the water is full of chlorine (which is basically bleach) anyway and poo tends to be lumpy.

Sorry if you find that gross.

it just never was - you are watching your lo closely and no poo face = no poo.
if they are wearing a swim nappy do they generally poo?

plus you dont tend to go swimming soon after eating.

WTFthatsweird · 20/07/2019 16:00

Blimey.

I'm 3 kids in and have never used swimming nappies.

BarrenFieldofFucks · 20/07/2019 16:01

Try cutting open a normal nappy (neat slit down one side) and emptying out as many of the crystals etc as you can. Then use the shell as a swim nappy. That's all a disposable swim nappy is really anyway.

itsabongthing · 20/07/2019 16:02

If his poos are predictable and he’s just done one id take him for a quick dip and watch his face like a hawk! Or can he paddle on some steps?
Or if you’re really confident he won’t and his poos are generally solid, hold him on your arm the whole time then you’d soon know if something was starting and you could dash out.....!

Obviously would be better to beg borrow or steal a swim nappy though!

I just wanted to update to say we are in a country where baths in the room aren’t even the norm! I was pretty shocked by that! And DS HATES the buggy and HATES the sling so a walk was out of the question. I did walk around with him walking but he had enough and we were really out of ideas. We got there in the end but he’s been in a foul mood all day anyway 🤪 thank you so much for all the time and suggestions!

When abroad its often the case that baths are not the norm, in fact are pretty unusual - bear that in mind for future trips away
