When it's directed at another poster I mean. It doesn't have to be directed at me (I don't think that's ever happened actually) but it just makes me so annoyed. It's bloody patronising. Pisses me right off.

AIBU? (I'm definitely not WinkGrin)

I read snapped and farted "live". I kept thinking they'd made a typo and would explain what they actually meant in a subsequent post. It didn't make me laugh, just confused.
Next thing there was a flurry of "OMG op I'm dying laughing here" and the rest of the thread was just hysterical people desperately trying to outdo each other on how funny they thought it was.
"Op I've just pissed myself on the bus!!!!" "Op I've smashed my face into the wall laughing"

It wasn't even remotely amusing.

I agree

Posters who feel the need to announce "name changed for this".
Made worst by a long list of "pom bear, penis beaker, snapped and farted, cancel the check".

No one cares.
Many of us name change every week anyway now.
Your post history doesn't mean you are not a troll.
You have read other threads on MN, do you want a medal?

They are just as bad as the DM attention seekers.Angry

I feel like such an idiot now.
I read "snapped and farted" as part of the classics thread and, for whatever reason*, did find it very funny. I didn't spit anything out or become incontinent or anything, but I did let out of sort of "Ha!" noise at the beginning. Which, sadly, didn't even startle any pets/babies/OHs around the place.

I know: I'm a failure 🙁

*Well. Drink might have been taken...

YANBU.
See also ‘end of’ and ‘simples’

I feel dirty even writing those words.

I found a new irritant recently - nice chocs. Apparently all good Mumsnetters homes have nice chocs, a small treat of some overpriced chocolates that they got for Christmas, they live on the high shelf of a cupboard. God forbid anyone touches their nice chocs, because they take a nibble a week (anything else is gluttonous) until the following Christmas where they’re gifted some more nice chocs.

Inevitably their husband/children/MIL/Local CF discover the nice chocs and devour them all in one sitting (like a normal human), causing a lot of angst and thoughts of going NC.

TheTitOfTheIceberg · 20/07/2019 11:36

FacePalm if people didn't post the even more irritating and not-even-thinly-veiled troll huntery "interesting first post, OP Hmm" then I think fewer people would feel the need to try to 'prove' their MN credentials. (Although I agree with you that referencing a few threads right there in Classics means jack shit.)

WhenOneFacePalmDoesntCutIt · 20/07/2019 14:54

Oh, I agree, the troll hunters and thread police are the worst.
You would have hoped they all ran away to reddit subforum, but some are still hanging around.

I raise your nice chocs with posh chocs
which the MIL apparently "stuffed her face with" Grin

ilovesooty · 20/07/2019 15:07

really annoys me too, along with "I feel your pain" in response to a situation which is mildly inconvenient.

It doesn’t help that the majority of first time posters do transpire to be not on the level (so to speak). I have said many times that if MN must have a name change system, there should be some sort of other indicator to how long a poster has been around (I think DS Forums has coloured stars?). It’s not unreasonable not to always take a first time poster at face value considering how much made up bollocks gets posted to AIBU.
