@WhenOneFacePalmDoesntCutIt having 4 children is contributing to the overpopulation of the planet. In all honesty having any children is but certainly having more than 2 is really selfish and somewhat stupid.

If we all decided to have that many what state would the planet be in? It's no good posters bringing up the same old story about the population getting older. So the solution is to keep bringing more and more humans into the world is it? Can you not see how that will end?

Me and DH decided nearly 40 years ago not to have children because we felt the planet was already overpopulated and didn't need us adding to it.

As the years have passed I have felt more and more relieved that we chose not to have children. I really would be worried about their future

I have more if a bump than that and I'm not pregnant (not fat either: size 8, but a few pregnancies).

Not really FacePalm I've had 4 but my daughter who is very environmentally conscious has decided she doesn't want any. One of mine has none, one has two and they have made the decision to stop there and I highly doubt my youngest would ever have any.

That is not a "tiny bump", it is a normal abdomen on a very slender woman. She is a woman in her 30s who has had 3 kids, not having the belly of a 15 year old does not mean that she is pregnant.

Short haul holidays contribute to the environmental problem too you know. Plus all those imported veg and fruit we eat all year around. How many rainforests get chopped down for our need to eat exotic food or food out of season locally?

You're presuming that I don't grow veg and herbs or hand down clothes from one child to the next. Or that I travel long haul. My kitchen is also ancient and I'm certainly no fashionista changing my clothes all the time.

So we're both comfortable with our choices.

The problem is that the role is misogynistic and sexist by definition. The job of the person who marries into the Royal Family is to produce a suitable heir for the family, male or female. What does Prince Philip do?
The rest of the stuff they do is to pass the time in between or so they can justify their lifestyle. The influence they have is to do with what clothes they wear and what their children wear and filling newspaper columns for lazy journalists. That's it.

But it's not a competition, and we're all fucked up with the selfish choices some of us make.

@ItIsWhatItIsInnit the problem there is economics. As our population ages we do need to have more people paying into tax and ni to fund pensions, NHS, etc.

Pensions are a big problem. The money you pay in now funds the current pensioners. The money that will fund your pension will come from the younger generation behind you. Rather like a giant Ponzi scheme.

So not much incentive for the government to push for smaller family sizes.

Poor woman. Just had a baby and shamed by strangers for not being skinny. I think she’s roughly the same size as me usually (10 ish?) and if look like a heifer next to Kate and pippa. Not that I think MM is a heifer. I actually thought for someone who’s a bit older (I think) she looks years younger than Kate.
