Following on from a thread where OP doesn't like wind turbines.

For me I can't stand walking past high buildings. I get so dizzy and frightened!

Almost passed out once as a child walking past Blackpool Tower..

Flip flops with toe posts!

YouJustDoYou · 14/07/2019 18:58

Phobias are learnt

😂 Yeah, alright love 😂

ChickenTikkaTellMeWhatsWrong · 14/07/2019 19:06

Shipwrecks, I used to hate them parts on Titanic. And anything to do with the deepest part if the ocean, it's so interesting but it freaks me out.

purplecorkheart · 14/07/2019 19:09

Walking over floors that you can see through, you know those metal grate kind flooring that you can see through. I had to walk across one recently eight stories up and I could see all the way down to the basement. I had to close my eyes and walk across till my toes hit the wall. Thankfully the people with me went ahead of me and did not notice.

BurleyBob47 · 14/07/2019 19:14

Omlaphobia. I can't even describe what it's a phobia of as I start to squirm.

oyoyoy · 14/07/2019 19:36

Ketchup shudder

Mablethorpe · 14/07/2019 19:38

Pools empty of water and also the grates in pools. Cannot hear to even swim over one and if I ever had to stand on one I think I'd pass out. There was a massive, dark and really long one in the lazy river pool on holiday last year which the DCs didn't warm me about. I had to clamber out as we approached it and I realised what it was. Definitely spoilt my day.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/07/2019 19:52

Vomiting
Worms and slugs
And especially stitches in skin ... the very idea freaks me out completely and actually seeing them is unbearable

Whatafustercluck · 14/07/2019 19:57

Trypophobia. It's a fear of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps. I can trace it back to a dinner lady who had the most awful mole (more like a patch of skin) that had clusters of bumps on it. She always rolled her sleeves up to wipe the table while we were eating and one day I remember clear as anything balking while trying to eat a sandwich. Dh almost got a tattoo of a sunflower recently but when he showed me the picture I had to ask him to choose another flower because the centre was full of clusters of seeds. Fucking horrific. I have to look away and I get really cross when people try to trick me to look at something they know will provoke extreme reaction in me. I don't have a genuine phobia about anything else - usual ones like spiders included.

jonesyyy · 14/07/2019 20:28

@BurleyBob47 I googled it but nothing came up, only omniphobia

OP posts:
KitschBitch · 14/07/2019 20:37

Sand - yuck, I can feel it now in my teeth, all gritty. Also glitter, the texture, the smallness of the flakes, it's all wrongShock

IntoValhalla · 14/07/2019 20:43
  • Human teeth.
Can’t look at them in too much detail - even the prettiest, Hollywood smile just turns my stomach. DH and I used to watch things like “Botched Up Bodies”, and I’d happily sit and watch an infected breast implant be removed etc, but as soon as someone came in with a dodgy dental job that needed fixing that’s me done Confused
  • Eyeballs and anything to do with them. I almost vomited watching my best friend put her contact lenses in!
  • Mayonaisse. The look of it. The smell of it. The gross jellified texture of it Confused It’s evil stuff and it makes me feel very anxious and on edge if I’m around it! I have absolutely no idea why, as there’s nothing that stands out in my memory as a bad mayonnaise-related experience Blush
ohhdearyme · 14/07/2019 20:43

@Chescascurious sloths really?!!!

anitagreen · 14/07/2019 20:43

Black toilet seats they frighten the life out of me that much I would rather stand and piss myself than ever use one.

I think it started when my mum used to make us "have a try" in the park before going home and it was a single very high cistenred toilet, no light so you had to have the door pulled a little open to let daylight in, graffiti up the wall and it smelt of urine so bad. There was always needles or leaves on the floor it was frightening and she fucking forced us to use it every time we was there. I've been petrified ever since if I walk into a toilet now and it's black I'll have a panic attack. I cannot use it. Luckily most places are white these days but I always find KFC or pubs have black ones or night clubs Confused

BurleyBob47 · 14/07/2019 20:44

Omphalophobia.....I was squirming too much when typing

jonesyyy · 14/07/2019 20:49

@BurleyBob47 ooooh, found it

OP posts:
ombre123 · 14/07/2019 20:51

I'm not keen on frogs. Unpredictable and too croaky.

Peanutbuttericecream · 14/07/2019 20:52

Moths, vile things.

nicannie · 14/07/2019 20:57

Tomato sauce - no idea why. But it's a real phobia of mine. People think I'm taking the piss when I tell them or they see my reaction 🥴

sweetkitty · 14/07/2019 20:58

Slugs and snails

Even typing their names gives me the heebies, I won’t go in the garden on wet summer nights. I love spiders worms ants have locusts in the house but those slimy bastards can go away

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 14/07/2019 21:09

I though I was just not keen on Butterflies, but somehow got talked into going into the Butterfly House in Amsterdam zoo, I had to be escorted out by dh with my eyes closed snivelling to myself.

Birds and bats do not bother me at all.
Spiders touching me, I am okay if I can see them and they are not on me, but that's not really strange

Underground Escalators freak me out, only travelling down, dh has to hang onto my coat, or stand in front of me, otherwise I have this almost overwhelming urge to just step out off the top. If I was on my own with the children I would hang onto their hands, and the rail and sometimes stand in front of them facing the wrong way. Shop ones are usually okay as they are not that long.

Have a similar issue with long long flights of stairs. It also really worries me when you see people really running fast down flights of stairs.

topcat2014 · 14/07/2019 21:14

Clowns, - colophobia
Holes - tripophobia

BetterEatCheese · 14/07/2019 21:16

Toothpaste and teeth cleaning. I do them but have to read something so I don't think about what I'm doing

Qwerty09876 · 14/07/2019 21:23

Walking or driving over bridges I hate it absolutely scares the shit out of me!

TitchyP · 14/07/2019 21:27

Being squashed in a small space, I think this stems from being stuck somewhere as a child and feeling as though I'd never breathe again. Couldn't go potholing, for instance, or crawl through a hole. I think I'd struggle with a heavy blanket! I woke up panicked the other day as I'd had a dream about being stuck in a pipe. This definitely borders in phobia territory.
Also, octopuses. Octopi? More of an intense dislike but bleurghhhhh.
