... to help two picky people?

We would be going in July time and only have 6-7 days, which we’d like to make the most of. So perhaps not too far away. We are fortunate in that we are both quite well travelled and would like to go somewhere we’ve not been before, without spending a fortune.

We live in the UK and have been to much of Europe - France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Turkey, Austria, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, Luxembourg, Poland, Switzerland, Croatia, Sweden, Bosnia and Macedonia. We’ve also been to Morocco and Egypt in North Africa.

I have been thinking it would be nice to go somewhere we could both chill out by the pool/beach and do some cultural stuff BUT we are adventurous and I’m keen to hear alternative recommendations from others!

Please hit me with your top suggestions!

I’d recommend the Amalfi Coast, staying in Positano specifically, if you’ve not already visited the area.

Iceland.

Soak in the hot spas, treck up a volcano.

RooKangaroo · 12/07/2019 22:27

Santorini.

Gorgeous beaches (though also recommend going out on a boat for the day and jumping in the sea that way), as well as being an island small enough to explore by foot if you're fit, fantastic ancient ruins, beautiful sunsets, and amazing food.

Preveza area of Greece (Parga)
Easy day trips to the River Styx, the Oracle of Zeus at Dodona, boat trip over to Paxos.
Or just laze about and wander around the local villages and churches.

Montenegro. Beaches, history, and also mountain trekking, river kayaking, lakes, and the second biggest fjord in Europe for gorgeous landscapes.

Or Butlins Minehead?

YahBasic · 12/07/2019 22:32

We went to the quiet bit of Santorini in June and it was beautiful

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 12/07/2019 22:34

If you've only 6-7 days it's hardly worth going long haul. Egypt recently started bookings again, you can snorkel in Sharm or do a Nile cruise in a week.

Iltavilli · 12/07/2019 22:34

Jordan would also be incredible!

Petra, Jerash, canyoning, Wadi Rum and Bedouin camps, less obviously beachy though.

Yachiru · 12/07/2019 22:35

Tokyo!

winnerwiner · 12/07/2019 22:36

Newfoundland? Direct flights from London. Icebergs in July, Very different, whale watching, bald eagles, puffins, food is amazing and lobster is cheap, the people are just so friendly. Fogo island hotel looks amazing. I would second Iceland too, it’s amazing, but neither are resort-like Beachy hot places!

Bobbybobbins · 12/07/2019 22:36

Slovenia - could do city break fun in Llubjana then head up to the Lakes for hiking, biking etc and spa hotels

Yogurtcoveredricecake · 12/07/2019 22:36

Swedish islands or Iceland.

Yachiru · 12/07/2019 22:40

Slovenia is gorgeous! Lake Bled is fairytail-esque

pinegreen · 12/07/2019 22:40

Istria - north-east Croatia. Very different from the Dalmatian Coast (Split/Dubrovnik) and there’s quite a bit of Roman history to explore, plus the interior countryside is famous for truffles and wine with lovely hilltop villages, so great for a day trip. Fly into Pula.

FreeFreesia · 12/07/2019 22:41

Corsica. Caribbean quality beaches on west coast. Excellent food. Historic Bonifacio. Walk part of the GR20 for adventure & views.

pinegreen · 12/07/2019 22:41

North-west Croatia, sorry.

FreeFreesia · 12/07/2019 22:42

East coast not west! Around Porto Vecchio.

Charley34 · 12/07/2019 22:43

Iceland or India x

slug · 12/07/2019 22:46

The Azores. Whale watching and dolphins for fun while relaxing in the hot pools at Fuma.

Ellabella989 · 12/07/2019 22:47

Sardinia! Such a beautiful island

Persea · 12/07/2019 22:49

Barbados - beautiful beaches, airport transfers seriously quick (mine was 15 mins), relatively quick flight and lots to see and do.
Boom!

CottonSock · 12/07/2019 22:50

San Sebastian
Wales ;)

Isthebigwomanhere · 12/07/2019 22:50

Italy it's beautiful

CurbsideProphet · 12/07/2019 22:54

Madeira? Mainly because it's not on your list of places you've visited and the travel time is good for a 6 day trip! We're going later this year and everyone who's been has raved about it Smile

CherryPavlova · 12/07/2019 22:56

Montenegro. Just beautiful and you can get a lot for your money.
