Bought a teapot on ebay, arrived with an old break very obvious so asked to return. After several abusive emails this was the last one I received after seller had to refund me.

You know what?
Keep the junk as you describe it. I don’t want it back. In my views it’s been contaminated with Englishness. I’m only selling things because I’m leaving this hate filled country, anyway.
My experience with you was another interesting example why this stupid country should not be part of a civilised community of countries. Never do business with the English. Too right, I’m afraid to say.

It sounds as if there were several emails exchanged before it reached this point. Could any of your responses be antagonistic - perhaps the straw breaking the camel's back?

It sounds like she described the item as ‘junk’, which is unnecessary in an eBay message exchange. I know sellers can absolutely be dickish when they get an ‘item not as described’ claim, but there’s no need to get into it with them - just state the basic facts with photographic proof and if they don’t make things right eBay will resolve it.

If you're Welsh then it's not directed at you- I'd just reply with something along the lines of "I'm Welsh, not English, you ignorant moron".

Re the Welsh abuse, ime it's not actual heavy abuse but certainly casual stereotypes. They think we're all like the TV show the valleys and wear fake tan and sleep about.

We're perceived as being poor, not much opportunities, huge unemployment, social issues, drugs etc. We're perceived as coming from an insulsr, violent and hard environment.

I don't think you don't get to call it racist if you substitute English for some other word. Just do what every other eBayer does and raise a claim for a refund then move on.

Oh dear. It's anti-English for sure but do you really care? It's not the most offensive thing I've ever read. I've experienced racism, it's pretty horrific when it happens and leaves you feeling incredibly vulnerable. Racism makes you question your whole identity and can leave you feeling shaken, angry, confused etc. How did you honestly feel when you read that post?

Opossom, sorry you experienced that. Sounds very upsetting indeed. You say you weren't taken seriously because you were white. I'm in no way condoning the behaviour of the perp, but you might find it helpful to read up about the differences between racism towards ethnic minorities and ethnic majorities. Neither are ok, however being called a stupid white bitch, will have likely had an entirely different effect on you compared to someone of an ethnic minority being called the equivalent.

Check out the letter to David Lammy that he tweeted about this morning for actual racist correspondence. FWIW I'm Welsh too OP. I'd have been pissed off at the annoyance of buying a broken item and then being met with the response you got, but it's not racist.

It is xenophobic, yes. Unfortunately quite a few of my fellow countrypeople think like this. Thus I don't have many friends amongst them.

I think the person who sold you the teapot may actually have some serious MH issues... I wouldn't read too much into this strange email.

I did not describe anything as junk as the seller says, total lie. I was polite even though in one of her messages she said I was the scum of the earth, should not be allowed to walk the earth, white trash, mental c**t etc etc
