Honestly I'm being a fucking pig at the moment and none of my usual methods for containing my greed are working currently.

I don't know what to do. I hate myself.

It's been going on for the last 17 months, since my son was born Sad

I don't have an answer but I'm in the same boat.

Currently trying to drink water instead of binge when I get home in the hope that I'll feel fuller and not want to eat.

It's a rubbish way to feel - Flowers for you

CupoTeap · 10/07/2019 20:14

What normally works?

tenthstreet · 10/07/2019 20:14

It's awful isn't it Thanks

I have a holiday in 6 weeks. I don't want to feel big and hot

Intermittent fasting and or low carbing were my techniques before. I seem to have zero will power at the moment

Hormones?!

Go out and walk, and drinking loss of cups of tea works for me, sort of

MyFokMarelize · 10/07/2019 20:17

I used to have this. You absolutely MUST break the cycle - if you don't it will just go on and on until you're really in the shit.
Sorry - it's not easy but it is doable. You have to retrain yourself and your appetite - have a look at the 5:2 regimes - that sort of thing.
I now eat once a day and that's fine - it wasn't instant, of course not, but it is eminently achievable.
Good luck but start sooner rather than later!

tenthstreet · 10/07/2019 20:19

Thank you!

I used to be so dedicated and it felt good. I'm so out of control at the moment

I also used to love OMAD

I'm feeling exactly the same and have done for a while. I get up every day and think today will be a good day I wont eat this or that etc but by lunch time it's completely blown! I dont know what's wrong with me but I just feel like i have no control over it even though of course I do! All of my friends are thinner and seem to not have issues with food. I'm a size 16

MordredsOrrery · 10/07/2019 20:21

I've just downloaded the My Fitness Pal app and have told myself that I'll start weighing myself and keeping track of my eating in a bid to try and calm it all down. Do you think seeing it in front of you like this might help? Every small reduction in intake is an improvement IYSWIM (so I'm telling myself anyway)

For me I'm just so tired, surrounded by stress and uncertainty with no time to myself, that I'm massively struggling to give up sugar - the only thing keeping me going some days.

tenthstreet · 10/07/2019 20:21

I'm just a greedy fat c** at the moment and that's really how I feel about myself

OP posts:
tenthstreet · 10/07/2019 20:22

I need to weigh in. That will be horrible but necessary.

I need new batteries for my scales. I WILL get them tomorrow.

OP posts:
CrystalWatts · 10/07/2019 20:22

I'm the opposite where I can go days without food even though I'm hungry.

lrh3891 · 10/07/2019 20:23

Er, please don't start eating just once a day. I can't imagine a world in which that is terribly healthy.

Have you looked at the Joe Wicks plan? It involves a lot of eating but a whole retraining about how you view food. I was exactly in your position after having my baby, got into the habit of eating loads because I lost a shit tonne of weight when I was bf, and then couldn't get out of the habit when I wasn't by any more and gained a LOT of weight very quickly.

soarin · 10/07/2019 20:23

Have a look at saxenda. Weight loss injection that seriously cuts dead your appetite, within a day you start eating because you have not because you want to.

That mixed with keto diet I've lost 4 stone :) I only play with injection, don't really need it on keto, but if I am lacking self control I take it.

tenthstreet · 10/07/2019 20:23

Ok @CrystalWatts ... not the thread Sad

There’s a bunch of us just starting to try and lose a few pounds on another thread you could join - it’s called something like who’s ready for a big fat new start - we only started Monday so it’s right at the beginning - so we could all do it together I am the same!!

tenthstreet · 10/07/2019 20:25

Thanks @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee I've checked in

I’m not convinced recommending weight loss/appetite suppressant injections is the best idea, considering we have no idea whether the OP is actually obese, or even overweight!! Seems a tad drastic.

tenthstreet I find myself in a similar boat. I lose a stone every year around this time, then gain it back again over the course of the next few months. My motivation is pretty low at the moment, although I know I can lose that weight and eat well in the short term, I really struggle to keep it up. What does work for me (when it does work!) is tracking my calories on My Fitness Pal. Do you have the foods you crave in the house already, or do you have to go out and buy them, then binge? I try not to buy the “bad” goods so they’re not here for me to snack on, but then I find myself making excuses to nip to the shop!

I’m not overweight at the moment (tip end of healthy BMI), but at this rate it won’t be long until I tip into the overweight bracket. Would be nice to regain a bit of control.

MabelBee · 10/07/2019 20:32

If you are anything like me, there is a huge sense of relief when I finally start tracking what I eat. Getting to the end of each day without the guilt from pigging out just feels amazing. I've been back on My Fitness Pal and recording everything for just over two weeks now. I managed to harness my willpower during the last hot spell when I was so uncomfortable but it is really that sense of relief that it is all under control now, that keeps me going.

Also, that shifting even 4 or 5 pounds by the next hot spell will be better!

TowerRavenSeven · 10/07/2019 20:32

If you can get the iTrackBites app it’s a great way to track what you eat. There is the paid version which is similar to the current WW. The free version is similar to a former version of WW. It calculates how many points you can eat a day to lose and you just plug in what you eat. My thing was I never knew what to eat anymore to lose. After awhile of putting in what you eat you figure out how you can eat more but not use up more points. Good luck, it’s very hard isn’t it!

tenthstreet · 10/07/2019 20:33

I'm tip end of 'normal weight' but I'm not my happy weight. I'd be somewhat happy if I lost a stone.

I just can't seem to engage my brain and stop eating comfort foods.

I drink too much these days too, and eat too many carbs.

OP posts:
tenthstreet · 10/07/2019 20:33

It feels so good to talk about it by the way!

OP posts:
tenthstreet · 10/07/2019 20:34

I have the WW app and MFP.

I'm going to have to start using the WW app considering I pay for it
