AIBU to be sitting, at 35 weeks pregnant, sobbing on my sofa instead of going to a mums to be coffee morning as my newly stained flooring looks so terrible I can't stand to look at it

I had some wooden flooring put in our newly built front extension which I planned to be an entry space with coat rack and shoe baskets etc.
I chose oak flooring and bought a child and environment friendly lightest possible wood stain. I've tried to include a picture showing the resulting the stain after being applied yesterday along with sample colours and a piece of wood showing how it was originally - it's supposed to be the 'American' colour in the sample picture.

Every time I look at it I want to cry. It looks so awful it sickens me and I hate it. I don't even want to go in there, which is ridiculous as it's our front entry to the house I was supposed to go to a coffee morning with some other mums shortly, but I know I will just get upset and look a mess if I try and go out.

I'm going to go and have the second coffee I was saving to have when I went out along with some chocolate in a poor attempt to try and feel slightly better

Could you spend a couple of weeks pretending that you are dressing the space as if to sell the house (instead of dwelling on the loss of what you’d envisaged for the entrance)? It looks a lot more “high-end” than the lighter colour so maybe if you concentrate on making it look attractive to a potential “buyer” you may find yourself loving the look you’ve created more than your original “vision” 🤞

I sobbed and ranted at DH when I was 35 weeks pg....He was supposed to lay the laminate floor in the nursery but it was too tricky so he got his dad in to help him.

I recall wailing these actual words 'How are we going to be able to look after a baby if you can't even lay a laminate flooooooor!!'

Bonkers Grin

I think your floor looks lovely BTW

I prefer it to the American colour. Its more rich and traditional.

Don’t panic-it will settle. I had a similar reaction to my new bannisters but they are lovely now.
