Supposed to exchange in a chain today. Buyer has demanded 10k reduction for an invented problem (not on the survey!). I either fold and lose 10k or stand on principle and possibly lose the sale. AIBU in watching Wimbledon with a stiff gin and wishing untold vexation on his head?!

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest his arsehole This the absolute fucking best!

Butterymuffin · 09/07/2019 20:51

Call his bluff! Straight no.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 09/07/2019 20:54

We had this. He wanted £20K off. DH said no and that any further such nonsense and we would withdraw from the deal. He was such a tosser, apparently al loud cheer went up in the EA office.

bellagood · 09/07/2019 20:54

@harriethoyle Cheeky fecker he is! YANBU!

We were selling a house circa 2001, and the guy buying it put in ABOVE the full asking price (actually 5% above asking price - higher than 2 other people who wanted it.)

10 weeks later (about 5 days before completion,) he dropped his price by 15% (so, 10% BELOW the asking prices,) because it didn't have a fireplace! (It had been boarded up, and a 'fake gas' one put it like on pic.)

^

He knew this when he looked at the house (he came round FOUR times) and he was taking the piss.

We told the agent he could get stuffed, and we will go to the next highest bidder (only 3% below the asking price,) and not 10% below like this bloke! They made it clear they definitely wanted it if this other man changed his mind...

The agent went off and told him the sale was off.

Five minutes after she phoned him, he rang back and said he really wanted the house and would pay the 5% above asking price he had originally asked.

Cheeky git was trying it on! Hmm

Well I do wonder what the comments here would be if it was a woman doing this;?.

It is about time though that the system was chaged if we have a chain on the go and someone weakens a link - not good:(

MotherOfSoupDragons · 09/07/2019 20:56

Just the same I think, Justaboy Confused

Unfinishedkitchen · 09/07/2019 20:59

I’m pretty sure the comments would be the same if it was a woman apart from the title saying ‘fanny’. Why try to shoehorn sexism in to this? Hmm

thinkingcapon · 09/07/2019 21:00

I've been quoted many a time saying this phrase on mn but I'll say it again.....tell him to go and shit on his hands and clap

Stay strong. You'll pull it off x

bellagood · 09/07/2019 21:02

LOL at the last posts by @MotherOfSoupDragons and @Justaboy (at just before 9pm!)

As if they think SERIOUSLY that the OP, (and people saying the same sort of stuff) about nob rot, and stinging pee and shitting a porcupine, are being serious and actually wishing hate and evil on him. They are clearly just having a laff! Grin

Lighten up! Grin

Longdistance · 09/07/2019 21:03

Don’t give in. Tell the fucker, don’t worry I’ll easily rent it out.

I hope his next shit is a hedgehog 🦔 💩

bellagood · 09/07/2019 21:08

'I hope he shits lego' is another fave of mine. Grin

AllTheGlitter · 09/07/2019 21:09

I’m a conveyancer and genuinely hear this daily. I wouldn’t give in, they rarely pull out and are mainly trying their luck.

EnchentButteler · 09/07/2019 21:10

CF! What a cockwomble! He's holding out for desperation on your part so don't give him a whiff of it. Tell the solicitor there's someone who viewed it who indicated they would have offered only slightly less rather than much less and was a FTB as well so he can exchange or go jump!

BenWillbondsPants · 09/07/2019 21:11

What an absolute prick. I hate arseholes who try to pull a stunt like this. I wouldn't back down, he can shove his invented problem up his arse sideways.

May he suffer from a badly wiped arse during a long public walk on a hot, sweaty day.

Hecateh · 09/07/2019 21:21

similar happened to me except he was looking for an out (I think a business deal went wrong or he fell out with someone). He pulled out, and 3 months later my house is unsold.

He was a pillock and wouldn't have signed even if I did reduce. I had agreed to 2 previous requests despite them being unreasonable.

Whoops75 · 09/07/2019 21:23

Offer half and leave fish guts behind the radiators

CruellaFeinberg · 09/07/2019 21:24

Oh shit oh shit oh shiy!!! Sorry!!! I hit the wrong button!!

YANNNNNBU

I changed it but the numbers didnt change

dontdoxmeeither · 09/07/2019 21:36

Urgh. We had this but a lesser amount. I am as stubborn as they come and it was through gritted teeth I agreed. And ONLY because I was 9months pg and we were relocating the next week so HAD to complete Angry

We had also agreed to leave white goods. Unfortunately, due to baby brain I accidentally left the freezer door open as we left. Even BIGGER baby brain made me pack the dishwasher instructions in error. And unbelievably when a friend, last minute asked if he could swap his washing machine for ours, I agreed. It was only halfway up the M6 that I remembered that his was broken! Doh.

missbattenburg · 09/07/2019 21:40

If at all possible tell him to fuck off to the far side of fuck and when he gets there to fuck off some more.

Not only does he deserve it but giving in to shit like this just encourages others to try it.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 09/07/2019 21:41

May all his poos be pineapples

plasterboots · 09/07/2019 21:43

I'm so pig headed I'd not only refuse to drop the price but say I'm no longer proceeding with his offer, if he cane grovelling back I'd say I sell to you if you give me another £3k.

Cheeky cunt!
