Supposed to exchange in a chain today. Buyer has demanded 10k reduction for an invented problem (not on the survey!). I either fold and lose 10k or stand on principle and possibly lose the sale. AIBU in watching Wimbledon with a stiff gin and wishing untold vexation on his head?!

Agreed - tell him to F off.

Our buyer did this, but it was 20k as the house was end of terrace not semi-detached (attached to apartments - obviously something we had not hidden).

Came on here and everyone told us to hold firm. (I was thinking we should go up chain (on basis of my terrible solicitors advice).

We held firm and told them we would pull if they didn’t confirm price as agreed by 12 pm. Surprise, surprise they did

LadyRannaldini · 09/07/2019 20:20

This is a very common ploy in certain areas. Stick to your guns, get it back onto the market for £10k more, he'll give in.

NewPapaGuinea · 09/07/2019 20:20

I wouldn’t sell to a chancer prick like that.

Hawkmoth · 09/07/2019 20:20

Our buyer pulled out last week almost at exchange. No reason, not even an invented one, given. I would have negotiated, through gritted teeth with clenched fists. But we are very keen to move quickly with school etc.

Hope you get a good outcome.

Bluetrews25 · 09/07/2019 20:23

Thank you Crafting - changed it.

carly2803 · 09/07/2019 20:24

oh my god the cheeky F !! tell him fuckoff!!

i hate people that dothis - !!!!!

CharityConundrum · 09/07/2019 20:25

It's probably not advisable, but imagine how satisfying it would be to reply to him through the medium of slightly obscene gifs...

soupey1 · 09/07/2019 20:25

Once he pulled that stunt I would have raised the price by an equivalent amount if he still wanted it but then I am stroppy!

amusedbush · 09/07/2019 20:25

May all his itches be unreachable.

And all of his poops be jaggy ones.

harriethoyle · 09/07/2019 20:29

Here’s hoping a case of super gonorrhea is coming his way.

I’d tell him to fuck off and keep fucking off.

SingingSands · 09/07/2019 20:31

No, no and thrice no.

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest his armpits, the cheeky wee bastard!

31RueCambon · 09/07/2019 20:32

Ok, I'll give you my best (translated from Irish) curse

''may the devil make a ladder out of his spine''.

Seriously, I agree with the others who have posted, this is a grade A dick move. The day of exchange, to pull this shit!

ForalltheSaints · 09/07/2019 20:34

No is a complete sentence.

rainbowruthie · 09/07/2019 20:35

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest his arsehole
Do not back down on this

FunnysInLaJardin · 09/07/2019 20:36

depends what market you are in tbh. Here it is a sellers market so would tell him to sod off. Also depends how desperate you are to sell.

I do this for a living and its a nasty business!

EssentialHummus · 09/07/2019 20:37

Nope. And the price will be going up by £1,000 per day for any further delay, hopey helpy.

IdblowJonSnow · 09/07/2019 20:37

Call his bluff. I'd also be tempted to up the price but am renowned for cutting my nose off to spite my face!
What a dick.

IdblowJonSnow · 09/07/2019 20:38

And plz report back op! Good luck!

harriethoyle · 09/07/2019 20:39

FelixFelicis6 · 09/07/2019 20:42

What cheeky fuckers!!! Hold firm!!

Unfinishedkitchen · 09/07/2019 20:47

May his piss burn like the sting of a thousand bees.

Don’t give in to this bullshit. He’s trying his luck and thinks he’s smart but he’s paid of out for surveys and solicitors so he’ll lose money.

foreverhanging · 09/07/2019 20:49

We had this (slightly different situation) and we called his bluff. We exchanged immediately.

Twat.
