CF thread IANBU

I never really encounter CF as I am a little isolated as a SAHM but here’s todays shocker.

My ex who I live with is away working in another country for a month so I’m by myself with DD so I thought the bright thing to do is give my spare keys to a friend of mine who’s flat is across the road Incase I get locked out.

Gave her let’s call her Pam and her OH Jim. So I gave Pam my keys on Friday and on Saturday I got a message that my good friend Kurt is coming to town for a couple of days so I said he can stay at mine. So on Monday when he arrived I thought I would ask Pam for my keys then Kurt can go out to move his car etc with bothering me.

So today Monday I messaged Pam to ask for the keys to give to Kurt she didn’t answer so I went out with Kurt to go to the supermarket when I get back Pam has sent me some frantic FB messages about the keys ending with that she’s dropped them off at the local bar for me to pick up 🤦‍♀️ I guess she thought I’d locked myself out rather than for my friend. (English is her second language)

I get back and get my DD to bed forgetting about the keys! Remembered 30 min before it shut, Kurt offered to go get them as he had to get stuff from his car. When he gets back he shows me the keys....

Instead of my hand made cat keychain which was soldered onto a bit of wood Pam’s OH Jim had replaced it with a lime green metal Eiffel Tower! Wtf

Looking back she did mention he put a Eiffel Tower on my keychain but I assumed it was a add on not some odd CF swap?!.

That's one long tale just to say that neighbour switched keyring. Odd but not terribly cheeky really is it? Will you ask for your cat back?

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 09/07/2019 00:08

Grin that's quite funny Grin

Maybe they broke the keyring and that's the only spare they had 🤷‍♀️

Chouxalacreme · 09/07/2019 00:09

Is that it? Really ?

Nameisthegame · 09/07/2019 00:10

Totally don’t understand this unsolicited swap...I asked her about it as I assumed it fell off but turns out he just took a liking to it so decided his shite lime green mass produced Eiffel Tower (highly used) was a fair trade for my hand made one of a kind soldered cat one was a fair trade.

You don’t think taking someone’s personal belonging and giving them something they don’t want is not being a bit of a cf?

OP posts:
Nameisthegame · 09/07/2019 00:12

I think Pam had chat with him and he is refusing to give it back she had some choice words to say about him...odd thing is if I knew he loved it I probably would have given it too him.

Anyone else got some CF stories mines a bit long and dull sorry!

BusySittingDown · 09/07/2019 00:18

I have to say OP, I'm quite disappointed with your story Sad.

I thought there was going to be something major like Pam had been using your key to help herself to your clothes or something.

Expressedways · 09/07/2019 00:22

Wow that was very long way of saying you gave the neighbours spare keys and they swapped your keyring!! I don’t understand why you put it on the spare set for the neighbours if you like it that much.

He also probably thought you were sort of giving him the keys to keep- when you give the neighbours a spare set it’s usual that you’d ‘borrow’ your own keys should you get locked out and then return them back to the neighbours, in case it happens again. My old neighbours had our spare set for 4 years and only returned the keys when they moved out. I wouldn’t even have remembered if they’d been on particular keyring.

I want to know more about Pam having words with him and him taking the cat keyring hostage, that sounds like an interesting development...

DarklyDreamingDexter · 09/07/2019 00:27

Yeah, I though she'd used your keys to come in and make herself at home in your flat or something. You could have just said 'neighbour switched my key ring, AIBU to be annoyed?' It hardly a cheeky fucker thing. Just a bit strange that he should take your key ring. Just ask for it back.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 09/07/2019 00:27

OP I kind of feel your pain. I once had a key to my DM's house with a rather fetching lorry keychain and next thing I knew it too had been replaced with an Eiffel Tower. Only turned out it was no Eiffel Tower, it was Blackpool Tower.

:) YADNBU :)

Crafting1Queen · 09/07/2019 00:30

Eh?

Deadringer · 09/07/2019 00:33

I thought you were going to say that they moved in.

Surfingtheweb · 09/07/2019 00:33

They took your key ring ? YANBU that's odd.

Nameisthegame · 09/07/2019 00:36

@2018SoFarSoGreat I’m so glad I’m not alone in the key ring department 😂 I think yours might be worse!

@Expressedways they are a spare set and I generally keep them in my pram just Incase I forget my keys but I could always go to my ex work and use his if I was locked out without the pram. I don’t really want her to keep hold of it forever but I do need some extra security while ex is away for a month.

I feel terrible about how long and boring my tale is 😭 I’m so sorry! I do have a good story about someone trying to break into the vicarage.

hadthesnip2 · 09/07/2019 00:38

Have schools broken up early....?

Nameisthegame · 09/07/2019 00:39

@Expressedways Pam’s words with Jim...I don’t know why he did it
He does a lot of stupid things
It’s not his key ring
Don’t F’ing take it

Almost word for word the message Pam said...
Made me laugh 😂

OP posts:
Nameisthegame · 09/07/2019 00:40

@Surfingtheweb it is just odd and strange....

OP posts:
TheInebriati · 09/07/2019 00:54

Thats odd. Have they actually copied your keys?

Nameisthegame · 09/07/2019 01:02

I doubt it Pam’s very trustworthy I don’t know Jim that well but she has looked after other people’s keys no problem

OP posts:
Rachelover40 · 09/07/2019 01:10

Jim must give your key ring back to you Nameisthegame, it isn't his to keep. I'd have thought Pam would take it from him and give back to you. He is well cheeky!

My first thought was that it had come off and been lost or broken but what has been done is not very nice at all. Demand to have it returned!

There are certainly some weird people about.

SolsticeBabyMaybe · 09/07/2019 01:12

Presuming Jim thought they'd be keeping your spare keys on a permanent basis and therefore that you probably weren't attached to the keyring, so thought he may aswell swap them and use the one he liked.

But very odd that he won't give it back!

Nameisthegame · 09/07/2019 01:14

@Rachelover40 not sure why he would unless Pam didn’t mention that she was returning them when ex cam back also mentioned when I saw her to give her the keys that I might need them back on Monday for Kurt.
