What kind of twat just abandons their trolleys in parking spaces?

I'm in Tesco car park. Three bays here in different parts of car park are blocked by trolleys just abandoned behind shoppers' cars. There are loads of trolley bays throughout.

It's infuriating - a bit of drizzle after some sun and everyone is too special to put their trolleys back?! I'll move the one in front of me even though heaven forbid my toddler and I will get a bit rained on

I know it's a small thing but I've had a frustrating morning and it's so symptomatic of the nonsense people think is ok!

The one I moved had a shopping list left in it which I put in bin and I kid you not one item was "posh nosh"

I feel bad in case they are here and it was a genuine mistake but I don't believe all the trolleys were forgotten

It's pure laziness. I hate the people that abandon the IKEA trolleys too, they're huge and really get in the way.

CacenCrunch · 07/07/2019 10:57

Because they are lazy bastards
I don't understand your 'posh nosh' comment though, are you saying 'posh' people would have put the trolley away?

1crazyyear · 07/07/2019 11:01

No, it just seemed such a random thing to write!

You threw the shopping lost away!?!? Don't you know that on mumsnet, you're supposed to post photos of found shopping lists!?! (I'm not sure why they do that, but they do).

Whisky2014 · 07/07/2019 11:04

Lazy, entitled people.

Scabetty · 07/07/2019 11:05

What is ‘posh nosh’ I wonder? Olives and quiche in my house 😂

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 07/07/2019 11:05

I hate this.

Once a woman left hers next to my car. It looked as though I'd left it there even though I'd just come back from returning my own trolley.
I said "I will return this for you then shall I?" And put it back.

Passive aggressive but it fucked me off.

The other day there were hardly any spaces left and there was a trolley full of shopping in one of the few bays left. I pulled right up to it, got out and moved it. There were two couples chatting nearby, watched me do it and carried on talking. It turned out to be their trolley the selfish, bone idle bastards.

dangerrabbit · 07/07/2019 11:07

In our area you have to pay £1 for a trolley and only get it back when you return the trolley to its parking place

BobTheFishermansWife · 07/07/2019 11:07

I haven't seen abandoned trollies in years... But every supermarket where I live are token/coin release trollies, so there's an incentive to return the trolley I guess?

TeaMeBasil · 07/07/2019 11:07

The trolley thing is annoying but much more intrigued by what their posh nosh is....what are they having for their posh dinner?

Pondering what my posh nosh would be...!

CacenCrunch · 07/07/2019 11:09

Ah ok I read that wrong. I read it as 'not one item was posh nosh' when it was actually 'I kid you not etc'

feesh · 07/07/2019 11:12

I live in the Middle East where this is the done thing; there aren’t even places where you could return a trolley to if you wanted to 😆 I just nudge them gently out of the way with my car bumper....

VampirateQueen · 07/07/2019 11:15

They all used to be the £1 ones around here too, but they did away with it when they brought in the bag charge as people were just taking the trolley home for £1 instead.

ChesterDrawsDoesntExist · 07/07/2019 11:18

As annoying as it is that I need to remember a pound coin or a token every time I go shopping (I don't and I often have to dash in and get change Angry) it does stop this laziness with trollies. The only ones left rolling around are the infant ones which are coin free. The disability friendly trollies which also don't require a coin are always put back though.

Bezalelle · 07/07/2019 11:21

Sheer laziness. Like the people in my block who leave their big bags just outside the bin store rather than going 3 feet further to actually put them inside.

EggplantVestibule · 07/07/2019 11:26

YANBU. Someone left a trolly, on a windy day, a few empty bays from my car, three days after we had bought it. I was walking towards the car when it blew straight into it, causing a massive dent in the passenger door. It's such a selfish, lazy thing to do. It's not hard to just put it back is it!

Pinkprincess1978 · 07/07/2019 11:28

It is so lazy. I get my kids to take them back when I see them abandoned. Once we saw a woman leave hers so I loudly asked my ds to go and return that ladies trolly as she clearly can't be bothered.

It's dangerous too as cars could easily reverse into them.

Tallgreenbottle · 07/07/2019 11:29

Me OP. I am that twat.

Because some other taxi drive twats and white van men twats had taken all the parent and child spaces. So I had to park the other end of the carpark away from the trolley bays... And was I fuck carrying tantrum throwing DS back to the car from half way across the car park in the unexpected pissing down rain.

So I left it in the space next to me. Do I give a fuck? Not really, no. Why? Because it's just a shopping trolley.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 07/07/2019 11:43

I doubt you give a fuck that you're lazy.

That's the whole point. That's why you do it. Because you give no fucks.

NothingBreaksLikesAHeart · 07/07/2019 11:43

I've done it too. My LOs in a car seat, I either leave him in the car to return the trolley or carry him back in the car seat with my bad knee. So I leave the trolley where I'm parked.

1crazyyear · 07/07/2019 11:46

@Tallgreenbottle even though there were no parent and child spaces for me either, and my DD was screaming in the back of the car and it took me longer to find a space because the three I did find were blocked with abandoned trollies, and then I had to walk across the car park in the rain with my DD too, I do sympathise.

I don't actually think you are a twat. It is just a supermarket trolley. I do think there are some twats out there though and stand by that.

I'm stressed about other more serious things and I probably just wanted attention on mumsnet when posting though!

How is having a child a reason to leave the trolley in random spaces??

Every man, woman and dog goes to Tesco with their kids. Can you imagine the fucking mayhem if all people with children left their trolleys?
I've got three kids and even when newborn and toddler I've never left a trolley. I've never needed to. It's not that bloody difficult.

You put the shopping in there car. Wheel the trolley and child back to the trolley bay. Take the kid out, push the trolley in, walk back to the car with the kid.

Done.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 07/07/2019 11:51

And the bad knee is a shit excuse

melissasummerfield · 07/07/2019 11:55

Why can’t you leave your child in the car for 1 minute while you return your trolley?
