What kind of twat just abandons their trolleys in parking spaces?

I'm in Tesco car park. Three bays here in different parts of car park are blocked by trolleys just abandoned behind shoppers' cars. There are loads of trolley bays throughout.

It's infuriating - a bit of drizzle after some sun and everyone is too special to put their trolleys back?! I'll move the one in front of me even though heaven forbid my toddler and I will get a bit rained on

I know it's a small thing but I've had a frustrating morning and it's so symptomatic of the nonsense people think is ok!

Loads of people do this where I live. They are all dickheads. The worst part is that there's loads of open space around the edges of the carpark, so even if they are too fucking lazy to put the trolley back, they could just push it off to the side in 5 seconds. But no, they choose to leave them in parking spaces so that other people have get out of their cars and move them before they can park.

SrSteveOskowski · 07/07/2019 15:55

It takes a special kind of twat to do it.

Do you not have to use a coin/token where you are?
I'm in Ireland and it's €1 in Tesco, Dunnes and Super-Valu and €2 in Aldi. Not sure about Lidl as I only ever buy a small few bits there and never do a trolley shop, but I'm guessing it's €2 as well.

Pinkprincess1978 · 07/07/2019 17:13

Ah the people who can't be arsed to put the trolly actually away snd just shove them into the bay also annoy me. Or shove them into a different style trolly. First one does it then others and before you know it there is only room for 10 trolleys. It takes 2 seconds to move it down and push it into the same str trolly. It's not hard, you did the hard not (apparently) by taking it back to the bay!

Chouetted · 07/07/2019 17:23

A small proportion of the abandoned trolleys will be blownaways and rollaways. As a child I used to get some entertainment out of watching the trollies migrate down an empty supermarket car park. It was particularly spectacular (and noisy!) on a windy day.

Having said that, what is with the people who make it to the trolley park and THEN dump their trolley right at the entrance? Having to restack what feels like a million trollies just to clear enough space to get the style of trolley you need out is infuriating, and makes me feel like I should be getting paid for it!

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 07/07/2019 17:29

As see on the thread, the attitude is basically,
"Why fucking should I? I am the most important person after all."

Kids screaming, put in car, lock doors, retune trolley. Bad knee, you managed to walk the shops, but a mild inconvenience and suddenly knees are too bad to push a trolley. Etc etc.

Self entitled, selfish, lazy and epitome of the "Fuck you jack" attitude.
Sums up the whole country right now and explains a lot of things if you think about it.

Maddiemademe · 07/07/2019 17:40

I can manage to return my trolley and I am in a wheelchair with a toddler and a child. The excuses on here are ridiculous. I have also had my leg badly injured by an abandoned trolley on a windy day that went flying into the front of my wheelchair when I had to wheel in front of my toddler to protect her. But hey, some of you don’t give a flying fuck and sound proud to admit it!

stucknoue · 07/07/2019 17:56

The idiots who shop at my local asda!

Pinktinker · 07/07/2019 17:58

Either lazy bastards who couldn’t be arsed taking it back or people who really had no choice and needed to leave in a hurry. Could be a few reasons for that- baby/toddler screaming in the car, massive emergency came up, panic attack.

Leftielefterson · 07/07/2019 18:00

My sentiments exactly OP!

Greyhound22 · 07/07/2019 18:03

I reversed into one the other day. Bastards.

I know technically it's my fault but it was raining and I was reversing in between two vans - it also wasn't a supermarket - it'a a large shopping centre where only the M&S has a few trolleys so you wouldn't really expect it to be there.

Shit myself as I thought I had hit a car and got out to see the trolley right at the back of the space. Pure idleness.

Biancadelrioisback · 07/07/2019 18:03

They are dickheads. Honestly.
And for those saying "get a life" etc I suppose you also don't care that your abandoned trolley gets blown around the carpark and straight into other people's cars. So to hell with the lot of you. My car has a wonderful massive scratch down the side of it thanks to some inconsiderate arsehole and I can't afford to fix it.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 07/07/2019 20:02

Easy to say when it's not your bad knee! Every step was agony for me this week.

Why are you assuming I've never been hurt? I'm a human, of course I've hurt myself and been shopping in pain.

I've been round Sainsbury's with a broken foot, waddled round Tesco suffering with sciatica with all three pregnancies and afterwards with an inflamed disc in my back.
But guess what?

I STILL MANAGED TO PUT THE FUCKING TROLLEY BACK.

And no I'm not being a martyr. I'm just not a selfish twat.

Worse still in my ancient prehistoric Tesco, none of the replies have brakes, and the car park isn't flat so left trollies roll out in front of the cars as well.

Again, selfish twats.

ToEarlyForDecorations · 07/07/2019 21:37

People who don't put their trollies back against the Nazi's.

Lemonlady22 · 07/07/2019 21:49

all these people leaving their trolleys anywhere cos they have a child...just leave the child in the car....with the engine on....its perfectly acceptable!

Praiseyou · 07/07/2019 22:01

This makes me irrationally angry, particularly when I needed the baby seat trolleys and I would have to cross the carpark to get an abandoned one and then have to clean the bird shit off it before using it.

The worst I ever witnessed was a woman that was leaving a trolley next to her parking spot which was on a bit of a slope and she went back to it 7 (!) times to stop it sliding down the slope - she could have put it back in the bay in that time.

But her piece de resistance was, the car took off (she was the passenger in the car) and then stopped right outside the door of the shop and she got out and ran inside. She obviously forgot something but she could have brought the trolley back when she was returning to the shop for the forgotten item!!!! I was watching it while waiting for my dh. He returned to the car to find me apoplectic with rage.

Laiste · 07/07/2019 22:03

I'm at a big Tesco or Sains a few times a week and either i have 'trolley blindness' or the issue just doesn't happen around here. I've never once had an issue with trolleys in car park spaces, or trolleys marauding about in the wind on their own bashing into things. I'm reading this thread looking like this Confused

1crazyyear · 07/07/2019 22:04

@Laiste it doesn't normally happen round here really either actually, that's why I noticed it I suppose. It coincided with a bit of rain

I must admit it didn't really affect my day so my post was perhaps unnecessarily strongly worded!

It's just typical of the ever increasing selfish society we live in nowadays. Certain people just don't give a fuck about anyone else. I've had a car damaged by an abandoned trolley, but hey ho you can't be arsed to put your trolley away so that's ok then.

Laiste · 07/07/2019 22:12

Oh nothing wrong with a rant OP Grin

I'm just surprised at the strength of feeling around this and the quantity of people having trouble with it!

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 07/07/2019 22:16

It happens here all the bloody time.

I guess people in Tescos Lewes are extra lazy.

StoneofDestiny · 07/07/2019 22:38

There is no excuse for not putting the trolley back safely. If you are well enough to go round the supermarket aisles, then returning the trolley is no challenge. Likewise, kids can be put in cars while you return the trolley for the few seconds it takes.

Abandoned trolleys can be blown around and do real damage to cars - it's simply inconsiderate not to return them safely.

Mysterian · 07/07/2019 22:49

Maybe they were just about to put it away when they had to rush off to snatch an orphaned goat being carried away by a golden eagle, then give the goat CPR and just forgot about the trolley? They might be lazy, but then again they might be heroes.
