Cleaner didn't do what I asked

So our cleaner started today I had to go out so didn't get to meet her this time. I paid for 2 hours and left her an extra £5 and a nice note to say thank you.
She didn't mop anywhere didn't use the carpet spray I asked didn't clean under the sofa as I asked. I told her not to bother with the bedrooms and she cleaned them.

She wiped down the kitchen sides but left the hob dirty. The bathroom hasn't been cleaned just tidied up abit.

We went out and bought new stuff for her to use window cleaner for our glass doors new cloths the cloths didn't even get opened. Also left my tv on with music playing.

Is this the usual or did I get a bad cleaner?

You have to ask? That is a bad cleaner!!!

MatildaTheCat · 05/07/2019 17:32

Bad cleaner. Sorry, just get someone else. Usually even the worst cleaner tries hard at first.

Jellyshoeshurtmyfeet · 05/07/2019 17:34

I think it's quite difficult to get someone to do exactly what you want. We have a new cleaner, it was her 3rd visit this week. She was 2 hours late, didn't wash the kitchen floor or wipe over the coffee table but plumped the cushions. All the ironing she did was folded up so many times it was totally creased by the time I got home from work. Now I feel awkward saying anything!

chorizoprincess · 05/07/2019 17:36

Seems like she just used the wipes and none of the actual cleaning products!

She cleaned the bedrooms when you asked not to. Sounds like she cant follow simple instructions. I would find someone else.

Myotherusernameisshy · 05/07/2019 17:47

Bad cleaner, don’t waste your time. I persevered with a bad cleaning company and they got worse and worse. Just found a lovely new one who is really thorough and does exactly what I’ve asked every week. I pay her the same amount. I love coming home when she’s been, I used to dread it wondering what I was going to find before.

BlueJava · 05/07/2019 17:52

Fine someone else... but easier said than done I know!

Lola999 · 05/07/2019 17:53

tobedtoMNandfart · 05/07/2019 17:55

Serious question can she read? As she hadn't followed any of your instructions.
2hrs isn't much if you want kitchen & bathroom included.

AfterSchoolWorry · 05/07/2019 17:55

Language barrier?

bridgetreilly · 05/07/2019 18:00

I would give her one more chance but make it clear that's what it is.

"We weren't happy that you did things we hadn't asked you to, but didn't get to some of the things that we had asked. We'd like to give you another chance, but please could you make sure you do all of the things we've asked you to before getting on with anything else. Thanks."

Also, what's with the extra £5? That's really weird. Pay her what you agreed to pay her.

Derbee · 05/07/2019 18:02

Bad cleaner. Don’t waste your time giving chance after chance. Bloody hard to find good cleaners

mazv1953 · 05/07/2019 18:16

Does she speak English?

chorizoprincess · 05/07/2019 18:17

The house wasn't that messy to start with I just wanted her to mop hoover and clean things down but she's done easy things like putting loads of cushions on the sofa. Making the bed putting extra cushions on the bed.

I didn't get to meet her was planning on meeting her next Friday im starting to think maybe she didn't understand English.

MyOpinionIsValid · 05/07/2019 18:20

Have you met her or is she though an agency?

chorizoprincess · 05/07/2019 18:29

@MyOpinionIsValid agency

HornchurchClaire · 05/07/2019 21:18

Why did you leave her an extra £5? I'm not clear on that part of the story. Either way, she saw naivety and took you for a mug, or she clearly didn't understand. Sounds like the latter, but agency should also take some responsibility. Aren't they the middle man?

seven201 · 05/07/2019 21:38

I think she didn't know what she was meant to do so just guessed. Speak to the agency.

Sunshine93 · 05/07/2019 21:49

If I was a cleaner and was guessing I would clean the hob that's was visibly dirty and the bathroom. Wouldn't most?

chorizoprincess · 05/07/2019 21:50

I left her a note of all the things to do and she didn't do any of them. Have contacted the agency they weren't really bothered just offered me another one.

I just thought if I left her an extra fiver she might go that extra mile. But obviously not won't do that again!

I used to clean an immaculate house every week for two hours i really struggled filling the time as it didn't look any different when I finished. I would rather of been took around room to room and have explained what needed doing what areas needed the most work etc.

Whiffy123 · 05/07/2019 23:28

Bad cleaner. Trust me it’s what I do. Don’t waste time on her anymore and ask for recommendations. Once you find a good cleaner treat her like gold dust. And the extra fiver will be lovely as a Christmas bonus x

Bostyrone · 06/07/2019 00:36

Maybe she can speak English but can’t read it.

HeddaGarbled · 06/07/2019 00:54

A lot of agency cleaners bring products and equipment provided by the agency rather than use yours.

So the agency have offered you a different cleaner? That sounds like a reasonable outcome. I think you do need to try and be there the first time he/she comes so that you can make it clear what you want.
