To cancel the surgery tomorrow? I'm scared

I've had lots of dodgy symptoms for a while(over 10 years) and they are getting worse.
My gynaecologist thinks I have endometriosis.
I'm booked in for a diagnostic laparoscopy tomorrow.
I'm terrified and I feel sick already.
I don't want to have it incase I don't wake up.
I've had my pre op and they say I'm perfectly healthy to have it.
I'm having bowel and bladder symptoms and bleeding after sex.
My smear was normal and swabs etc
It's a day surgery so I can come home same day.
My gf says if it won't kill me don't have the lap.
What do I do ?

It's horrible waiting, but you'll be fine and it'll be a weight off your shoulders once it's been done Flowers. The staff will have done it thousands of times before.

recklessgran · 05/07/2019 10:52

Good luck OP - you're going to be fine. Keep being brave as you're nearly there. Let the collective mumsnet virtual hugs carry you through this.

BumandChips · 05/07/2019 11:00

Good luck OP you’ll be fine. The waiting is the worst part and it’s natural to be nervous. I’ve worked in surgery for years and it’s so routine. You won’t even know you’ve been asleep, you’ll feel like you’ve had your eyes shut for seconds. Tell them you’re nervous and let the staff help you.

ursuslemonade · 05/07/2019 11:06

Please try to not worry too much.
You will be fine.
Had a similar procedure not long ago under GA (my first) and before going to hospital I've said my goodbyes to my kids. That's how scared I was.
Good luck!!!!!

Hotterthanahotthing · 05/07/2019 11:13

Being scared of not waking up from the anaesthetic is very normal.
Go in for your surgery and talk to the anaesthetists and nurses who will help you through .You can cancel even when you're there but do go along and try.Yo will be fine.
As for your girl friend, does she really not mind you suffering all these symptoms? She should be supporting you and helping you get back to better health

Ribenaberriesgowoo82 · 05/07/2019 13:13

I imagine you're in a post op daze now. Hope you're okay Flowers

ChippingInLowCarbing · 05/07/2019 14:03

How are you now? Nice nap?

I’m glad I had no price of my op and so no time to build it up in my mind. dr Goidle is a bastard and shouldn’t be consulted, he’s all scare stories!

Hope your recovery goes well 🌷

trytrytry · 05/07/2019 15:54

I'm home everyone.
They found a tiny spot of endo on my uterus but it was so small it wasn't treated.
My Fallopian tubes are totally clear,no scar tissue,no adhesions ,nothing stuck together.
I've been discharged from Gyno.
My ovaries were clear too.
I asked would I be able to have kids and she said yes.
She said it was literally a tiny dot of endometriosis.
She's advised maybe taking the pill for now.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 05/07/2019 15:56

Glad it went ok and no serious issues were found.

Guiltypleasures001 · 05/07/2019 15:58

Well done lovely, really chuffed for you, have a nice rest and put your feet up 💐

Gth1234 · 05/07/2019 15:59

Result. Safe operation, and good outcome from the sound of it.

Hopefully they can establish the real cause of your symptoms.

trytrytry · 05/07/2019 16:06

It's crazy that that is all it is ..I really thought it was going to be extensive.
The nurse said it's more than likely IBS for the diarrhoea.
No explanation for the constant uti tho.

WhereYouLeftIt · 05/07/2019 16:06

Glad to hear all went well with the op, and you have confirmation that the endo hasn't caused any damage.

I hope you get to the bottom of what's causing your symptoms, OP. Best wishes.

Owlbert · 05/07/2019 16:17

Well done for going ahead and hopefully you are reassured from the outcome, I hope you can now rest and you aren't too uncomfortable Flowers

Guiltypleasures001 · 05/07/2019 16:35

With regards to the water infections, if you have IBS there's a very good chance of cross contamination, my mum suffers terribly from both, and it's the bain of her life

You have to be extra careful whilst wiping, it's a nightmare sometimes

pigsDOfly · 05/07/2019 16:49

Oh that great. Being brave and going ahead has given you such a good result.

Now you just need to get the bottom of your symptoms.

So pleased for you.

Justaboy · 05/07/2019 16:56

Result that!, what was worse the procedure or the worry:?

Answers on a postcard please;)

Some people for no known reason seem to suffer from UTI's most all the time:(

trytrytry · 05/07/2019 17:06

Do you think there's a chance they could have missed endo on my bowel or bladder ?
Shall I just stop worrying and enjoy the fact it's not as bad as thought

OP posts:
trytrytry · 05/07/2019 17:07

@Justaboy the worry was a million times worse.
In 2/12 hours I had the lap and was dressed to come home
I'm shattered tho and sore throat from the tube

Ribenaberriesgowoo82 · 05/07/2019 17:21

Was your surgeon an endo specialist or a general gyne surgeon?

Benjispruce · 05/07/2019 17:26

If you don't have it , you won't be any further along on your journey to get well. I would be anxious but that's normal.I would also be relieved to be getting something done about dreadful daily symptoms that are spoiling your life.

Benjispruce · 05/07/2019 17:27

Oh you did it!!! Well done. Get well soon!

trytrytry · 05/07/2019 17:28

@Ribenaberriesgowoo82 I think just a general gynaecologist but I'm unsure tbh

cushioncovers · 05/07/2019 17:31

Get plenty of fluids and rest op as well as pain meds when you need them. Thanks

Kentishgal · 05/07/2019 18:19

Well done trytrytry! I sympathise with you, I've totally been like that myself before. Just got to get through my c section next week...😬
