Hello - Producer Amanda has just found out that a friend of hers thought the lyric to the first line of Brain Adams' Summer Of 69' was 'Got my first real sex dream' .... it's 'Got my first real SIX STRING' .. an easy mistake to make though...
So AIBU to ask for your similar lyrical mix-ups?

@TopEndChops I thought it was loser street too! Right up until I read your post Blush

As a child I thought the devil had a sideboard (Bohemian Rhapsody) well we did so it seemed perfectly reasonable that the devil would to, possibly also containing various bottles of 3/4 full duty free that only came out at Christmas.

Mr Brightside
Until Saturday I was turning snakes into the sea
No I didn't know why either

Greenteandchives · 03/07/2019 18:09

Emerald I genuinely sang about silicone holders, too.
And I’ve posted before about Glenn Campbell’s Nine Stone Cowboy.

Waitingtomove · 03/07/2019 18:11

@sar302 me too! 😂 still sing that even though I now know it’s wrong

SpinsterOfArts · 03/07/2019 18:12

My love has got no money, he's got his trombolise...

I figured it had to be a musical instrument I hadn't heard of. Possibly a small trombone.

emma8t4 · 03/07/2019 18:15

We caught the kids merrily singing away to four headed woman .....that would be more than a woman.

MusterTheRohirim · 03/07/2019 18:16

My DC like Katy Perry. I was merrily singing along to Chained to the Rhythm "dance dance dance to the disco drum" but it turns out disco drum is actually distortion. I prefer disco drum.

iklboo · 03/07/2019 18:20

How Deep Is Your Love. The Bee Gees are NOT singing

' When you come to me on a submarine' or 'when the auction let us bid'

When DH was little he thought Spandau Ballet were singing 'I know there's budgies too'.

DS sang 'it's on my knee' to the Ting Tings That's Not My Name.

My friend thought U2 were singing about 'Shamu the mysterious whale'.

percheron67 · 03/07/2019 18:21

The song - cannot recall group "gotta let it go". I thought they were singing "Galileo" and was so pleased that people still had a classical education!!

givemebooks · 03/07/2019 18:23

You all need...

Raymond and Mr Timpkins! Bloody funny!

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 03/07/2019 18:30

Become a come a come a come a come a chameleon up until a few years ago.

I think it makes more sense than Karma Chameleon. Blush

GummyGoddess · 03/07/2019 18:30

Christmas, sorry!

Was convinced that the lyrics were 'are you waiting for the family to arrive, are you sure you've got the will to stay alive'. It made sense because everyone knows you get the best family rows at Christmas.

BrilliantFriend · 03/07/2019 18:33

I was a big Madonna fan as a kid and for years thought the lyrics to Papa Don’t Preach were:

‘Papa don’t preach...I’m in a mood, y’see’

(Rather than ‘I’ve been losing sleep’)

I think I was about 30 when the penny dropped Grin.

clearwaterrr · 03/07/2019 18:34

@ThatssomebadhatHarry

I went to school with a girl called Leanne. She thought it was "come a come a come a come 'ere Leanne" BlushGrin

StillCoughingandLaughing · 03/07/2019 18:35

My mother thought Katy Perry liked the taste of a girl’s ‘cherry chopstick’, and also why Eminem was ‘peeing in his closet’. I’m still baffled as to what she thought a cherry chopstick was Grin

Flamingnora123 · 03/07/2019 19:27

"all you women, independent, throw your pants at batman!"

EmeraldShamrock · 03/07/2019 19:50

These are hilarious..Grin

iklboo · 03/07/2019 20:33

My favourite one I read on here was Bat Out Of Hell:

Like a Cilla Black fan on a bike Grin

We never sing the right lyrics now.

SrSteveOskowski · 03/07/2019 20:54

You can thank me later Grin

ToothlessReg · 03/07/2019 21:35

My husband is so bad with this, he’s come out with some corkers.

One of my favs is definitely his version of the White Stripes:
‘I’m thinking bout your dog bell, when you gonna ring it, when you gonna ring it...’

ddl1 · 03/07/2019 21:45

I thought for ages that 'Forever in blue jeans' was 'Reverend Blue Jeans' - some sort of trendy spiritual leader? I also thought that 'Chains, chains, I'm all in chains' in 'My Coo-ca-choo' was 'Jane, Jane, my only Jane!' and that his girlfriend was obviously called Jane. My friend thought that 'You don't have to say you love me; just be close at hand' was 'You don't have to say I'm lovely, just because I am!' I still prefer her version!

TwoPupsandaHamster · 03/07/2019 21:49

I couldn't work out why he was so happy about finding himself a jellybear

Haha! My DH asked why there was a song about a cherry air! I see what he means tbh. Diction is everything! 😂😂

TulipCat · 03/07/2019 21:57

Shawn Mendes singing Stitches. For ages we thought he kept "farting onto my keys" instead of "falling onto my knees".

Ffsnosexallowed · 03/07/2019 21:59

Jess Glynn singing about how the freckles on your arse spell out my name
