So why do so few black people go to Glasto

FFS. this thread's ridiculous lol.
Who even cares or notices stuff like that?
Maybe they're not a fan of the music?
Although that would be a ridiculous thing to even say never mind think as they're not all one big blob of hive mind, they're individuals ffs.
Nope, can't even begin to try to get into that mindset, I'm sure some black people love festivals.
Like some people tend to do.
Has the sun been beating down too hard, I think some need a lie down in a cool room Grin

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 29/06/2019 19:00

Is not the best thing about getting older (36 for me) that you have the confidence to not give a fuck what others think?

Spot on Smile I'm just a tad envious that it took me until I was 50 until that confidence really kicked in. Still, no point in looking back Blush

DickieDonkey · 29/06/2019 19:00

Looking at the lineup, there seems to be a lot of radio 2 type stuff suited to the 35+ market. I can remember going to clubs when 18/19 and seeing sad old men loitering and clocking that it was totally sad/percy for them to be hanging out at stuff aimed for youngsters at their age but I think that music festivals cater for a wider age range.

Pinkfinkle · 29/06/2019 19:00

It’s always tragic.

DickieDonkey · 29/06/2019 19:00

Pervy not Percy....

RosesAndRaindrops · 29/06/2019 19:01

I wouldn't want to go to a festival where I was surrounded by children and might bump into my mum as a teenager.

Errrr......

monkeytimesthree · 29/06/2019 19:01

Yep @BoronationStreet and kids missing school so their parents can go? 🤔 Jeez.

It’s in the West Country which is very white anyway, maybe black people cant be arsed to travel for hours to see George Ezra singing shotgun, know that I wouldn’t be....

Baritriwsahys · 29/06/2019 19:03

Meh, there are more white people in the uk than black 🤷‍♀️

RosesAndRaindrops · 29/06/2019 19:05

maybe black people cant be arsed to travel for hours to see George Ezra singing shotgun, know that I wouldn’t be....

Grin They have a point, I couldn't be arsed either and would run off in the other direction if that started playing haha
TooManyPaws · 29/06/2019 19:06

One advantage of getting older is that you normally have a better income and a few possessions that make life both more comfortable and fun. A lot of festivals have a caravan, motorhome and camper field. Enjoy yourself, come back to your own loo and shower, drink something chilled from your own fridge, cook on your barbeque, and sleep on a comfortable bed.

batvixen123 · 29/06/2019 19:08

I'm a bit confused at the suggestion that listening to Kylie, Janet Jackson and the Cure could be an attempt to get 'down with the kids'. Glastonbury looks like pretty solidly Radio 2 music to me!

Even if it wasn't, OP, YABU. Do whatever you want if it doesn't hurt anyone. Curtain twitching adds to no one's life.

BoronationStreet · 29/06/2019 19:09

No @monkeytimesthree the kids didn't miss school, they stayed with various family members and their parents went to Glastonbury without them. Kids got no holiday whatsoever.

fantasmasgoria1 · 29/06/2019 19:10

Fuck! I am a 44 year old goth who still dresses in full goth style, goes to concerts and gigs, goth nights, outdoor festivals etc etc! I should probably rethink my life, get a perm and wear nylon dresses with tan tights!

Paddington68 · 29/06/2019 19:10

Seriously, we are putting limitation on ourselves due to age.

ThatLightIsBright · 29/06/2019 19:12

Well it’s very commercial and consumerist, so yes tragic indeed, for anyone, if they think that’s what festivals are about.

Peitho · 29/06/2019 19:12

@BoronationStreet, that's a selfish parent issue. Age irrelevant.

Peitho · 29/06/2019 19:13

maybe black people cant be arsed to travel for hours to see George Ezra singing shotgun, know that I wouldn’t be....

Grin
Sissy79 · 29/06/2019 19:16

Yeah I won’t be curtailing my fun at a “certain age” just because some killjoy doesn’t know how to have fun. Should women over a certain age only enjoy playing bingo at the conservative club on a Saturday night, getting their curl set, and doing the cross word. Bore off.

MrsMiggins37 · 29/06/2019 19:18

Well I think the whole thing looks fucking grim regardless of age.

Sissy79 · 29/06/2019 19:25

Plus, as for people bumping in to their mums. I know people who go with their mums.

User7429001 · 29/06/2019 19:30

YABU When you reach the ' tragic' age you can retire with a small sweet sherry and leave Glastonbury to others.

Quintella · 29/06/2019 19:38

At what age do we receive the email that informs us which activities are appropriate for our advancing years? I'm worried I'm enjoying things I have no business enjoying.

Quintella · 29/06/2019 19:41

Is it accompanied by a subscription to People's Friend magazine?

RingtheBells · 29/06/2019 19:44

The OP hasn’t mentioned an age so it could be 90, who knows
