I'm 45 years in 2 weeks and have registered for Glastonbury tickets for 2020...am I tragic? Who knew?

Yes. Yes you are. Go back to your rocking chair, far too old for those types of shenanigans!

I'm just a couple of years off that and shouting balls at the fact people think I'm supposed to act my age whatever that means
I've never been to a festival either, I'm now wanting to though just to piss of the young uns who think I should be at home lol.

So why do so few black people go to Glasto

FFS the attempts to superimpose American style race politics onto a British context are so lame.

About 3% of the British population is black. What evidence do you have that significantly less than 3% of the attendees at Glastonbury are black? And if they are, what do you think could or should be done about this?

PolkadotLollipop · 29/06/2019 20:17

Neneh Cherry is doing a gorgeous set right now (watching on BBCfour).

BumandChips · 29/06/2019 20:19

So what is classed as fun then OP? Or can you not have fun now you have children? Or must fun only happen if the children are involved?

Marchitectmummy · 29/06/2019 20:20

Live and let live. It doesn't affect you if others younger older or whatever are there.

monkeytimesthree · 29/06/2019 20:23

@howdyalikemenow who are you to say I shouldn't have a point of view? I find the whole Glasto thing questionable and a bit eye rolly quite obviously. I don't expect everyone to share my view. The abusive comments aren't necessary thanks.

This is mumsnet in case you weren't aware. I'm hardly the first person to put forward a point of view. That's what you do on here. Whether you agree with it or not is not the point.

My oldest DB is 68. He’s climbing the Matterhorn this summer. He’s doing it because he enjoys climbing/scrambling and walking NOT because he would feel as though he was missing out if he didn’t do it. Theyre activities that have always given him a lot of pleasure. Along with Glastonbury I couldn’t think of anything worse but life is short and you should grab the things that make you happy and do them while and for as long as you’re able. We are a long time dead and who cares if something looks tragic. That’s no reason not to do something .

howdyalikemenow · 29/06/2019 20:24

Ooh @PolkadotLollipop has she done buffalo stance yet?

IcedPurple · 29/06/2019 20:26

I find the whole Glasto thing questionable and a bit eye rolly quite obviously

I think most of us had already leapt to that conclusion.

Quintella · 29/06/2019 20:26

Buffalo Stance was the first single I ever bought.

RosesAndRaindrops · 29/06/2019 20:27

Neneh Cherry is doing a gorgeous set right now (watching on BBCfour).

But, but, Neneh Cherry is a black type and black people don't go to Glastonbury! Grin
(according to other posters, not me before newcomers take offence Grin )
Oh and I love Neneh Cherry. Buffalo Stance. Ace 90s choon

howdyalikemenow · 29/06/2019 20:27

😂 bless you and your delicate little soul OP!

PolkadotLollipop · 29/06/2019 20:27

Not that I’ve seen. I suspect she’s banking it for the end.

PolkadotLollipop · 29/06/2019 20:28

HHAHAHA. She’s literally just started doing it.

howdyalikemenow · 29/06/2019 20:28

Watching as we speak. Is watching on the telly Ok OP or does that also make us tragic!? Just checking what we're allowed to do, being advanced in age and all that!!!

Emmapeeler · 29/06/2019 20:29

It’s on now!

howdyalikemenow · 29/06/2019 20:29

AWESOME

IcedPurple · 29/06/2019 20:29

But, but, Neneh Cherry is a black type and black people don't go to Glastonbury!

And she's also - gasp! - in her 50s!

Come to think of it, since she was only 17 when she had her first child, her daughter must be pushing 40! The horror!

RosesAndRaindrops · 29/06/2019 20:29

Oh and 7 seconds, forgot about that one, love that too

RosesAndRaindrops · 29/06/2019 20:31

And she's also - gasp! - in her 50s!

Black AND in her 50s?! Singing? At a festival?! FFS. Angry

Grin
howdyalikemenow · 29/06/2019 20:31

I know Roses. Shameful behaviour!!!

IcedPurple · 29/06/2019 20:31

BTW she is gorgeous, talented and wonderful.

PolkadotLollipop · 29/06/2019 20:32
