To wish they didn't sell alcohol at soft play?

Took 2 year old dc to soft play today to try and escape the heat. Our garden is exposed and simply too hot to be in.
Around 11am and the place is packed. There's a table of dads sat there with beers being rowdy getting one round after another.
Their kids were around the ages of 2-3, so when hanging around the inflatables to supervise their kids they were rowdy, shouting, yelling at each other and generally being tipsy at a kids soft play area.
Plus they reeked of alcohol and It wasn't even noon.
AIBU to think that if I want to escape drunken dick heads in the hight of a heatwave I should be able to take my kids to soft play without them seeing all that kind of thing? Is it like this everywhere up and down the country?

None that I know of sell alcohol where I live unless its sited in a pub.

TheGirlWhoLived · 29/06/2019 14:55

I would like to live somewhere that DID sell alcohol at soft play. I had to put up with a slush today

BeanBag7 · 29/06/2019 14:55

YANBU They dont sell alcohol at any soft play I've ever been to. Why would they? Surely people can supervise their children for an hour without having an alcoholic drink 🙄

BeanBag7 · 29/06/2019 14:57

Oh was it a soft play attached to a pub? Like the wacky warehouse places or Charlie chalk that they used to have. In which case YABU, of course people are drinking in the pub.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 29/06/2019 14:57

No Alcohol In our softplay either

Jebuschristchocolatebar · 29/06/2019 14:57

Where is this? Asking for a friend

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 29/06/2019 14:57

Is this a pub/restaurant with a Soft play, or a stand alone soft play with a cafe that is selling alcohol?

WifOfBif · 29/06/2019 14:57

Were we at the same soft play today?

11am and a group of adults, 4 male 4 female, drinking bulmers, wine and cans of strongbow while the kids (aged under 5) played. I don’t get it at all.

NewSchoolNewName · 29/06/2019 14:57

I’ve never been in any soft play that sells alcohol.

Is this one attached to a pub or similar?

BigSandyBalls2015 · 29/06/2019 14:58

God I would have loved a glass of wine or two when I was going through the hell of 'soft play'. Great idea.

IHaveBrilloHair · 29/06/2019 14:58

I'd have gone to soft play more often if it sold alcohol!Grin

HairyFloppins · 29/06/2019 14:58

Maybe they brought it with them?

Doesn't seem a very good idea.

Iliterallycantthinkofanythingq · 29/06/2019 14:59

Alcohol at soft play sounds fab to me Grin

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 29/06/2019 14:59

Appalling.

Now, where is this place, so that I may avoid it?

ImportantWater · 29/06/2019 14:59

Definitely not the same up and down the country! There are three soft plays in our town and none sell alcohol.

tiredtrumpet · 29/06/2019 15:00

It's not attached to a pub, it's a stand-alone soft play, it's not near anything else, it's just this little warehouse off an a road and it has a fridge full of beers, wine and Prosecco. Also has spirits on tap.

Place marking Wink

WifOfBif · 29/06/2019 15:02

The one I was at was just a soft play, no pub attached.

dannydyerismydad · 29/06/2019 15:03

There's one in Amsterdam. It has a licensed bar and ear plugs. Bliss.

tiredtrumpet · 29/06/2019 15:04

@WifOfBif no I don't we were at the same one it was just dads today!

‘Posh’ soft play very popular round here - selling champagne, gin cocktails and naice food!

EleanorOalike · 29/06/2019 15:11

I honestly think this is disgusting. Poor kids. Alcohol has no place in a soft play. I cannot for the life of me understand why people can’t get through basic parts of life like a 10am train journey and now a Saturday morning kids activity without alcohol. I used to do a mock parliament with the primary aged children I used to teach and overwhelmingly the “Bill” they’d all pass was variations on banning adults from drinking alcohol when they are looking after kids. I was very surprised that it came up every time. If you want to get pissed up, get someone else to look after your kids first. I hope none of them were driving home.

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 29/06/2019 15:14

None of the ones I've ever been to sell alcohol but now that I'm thinking about it it could make the experience less horrific 🤣!

Ronnie27 · 29/06/2019 15:14

Alcohol should be compulsory at soft play. Mine are older now luckily but I remember those days of following them round germy ball pits well. Grin

Millie2018 · 29/06/2019 15:16

There’s a chain in London that serve alcohol and a new one just opened round the corner from us. Describes itself as a soft play cafe, we went there and they sold wine and beer. I wish they wouldn’t. The kind chain ones are huge and there are regular stories on local Facebook groups about drunk parents arguing and even the police being called. I don’t go there anymore.
