To wish they didn't sell alcohol at soft play?

Took 2 year old dc to soft play today to try and escape the heat. Our garden is exposed and simply too hot to be in.
Around 11am and the place is packed. There's a table of dads sat there with beers being rowdy getting one round after another.
Their kids were around the ages of 2-3, so when hanging around the inflatables to supervise their kids they were rowdy, shouting, yelling at each other and generally being tipsy at a kids soft play area.
Plus they reeked of alcohol and It wasn't even noon.
AIBU to think that if I want to escape drunken dick heads in the hight of a heatwave I should be able to take my kids to soft play without them seeing all that kind of thing? Is it like this everywhere up and down the country?

In Belgium there are some bars in the soft plays! Funnily enough most adults seemed to be drinking when we went - but E did not see any drunken behavior.

Struck me it was quite a good idea and made the visit more bearable - but in fairness people were drinking in moderation.

Slightly different but we had lunch out, table next to us had four adults and young children. Children were as good as gold, all quiet, eating their food and behaving beautifully. The parents were a nightmare, dads shouting, hassling the young waitress, women laughing like hyenas. I just felt sorry for the kids but was relieved when they got up to leave.

That's dreadful. Caring for young children can be very high stress point for a lot of people in their lives. Alcohol can become a crutch. I have just returned from an AA meeting last night. Alcoholics come in all shapes and sizes ages sociodemographic. And the management of the soft play are complete muppets making the availability of alcohol hand in hand with child care so bloody available. Someone should go talk to them.

I missed out on this! No soft play at all when my kids were tots, would have loved one that served wine Grin

I loved my cold beer in the heat, when DD was small at soft play.
(Spain)
I wouldn't have gone and sat for two hours without it. Every. Bloody. Day. during the 4 month summer holidays.

Germs in these places are one serious matter, a beer or cider is not.

One soft play near us is attached to a pub and men sometimes got a bit pissed - I hated seeing them bringing in pints and some didn’t abide by the no glass rule. The other is not but sells rubbish food. I like the sound of the place serving champagne and naice food - I’d not participate in the alcohol. I’m partial to aromatic (pink) tonic though - maybe they’d sell that.

2 of ours sell alcohol and nowhere near pubs!

Bunnyfuller · 29/06/2019 17:22

What a fabulous idea to make soft play more bearable. Get a friend to drop you off.

EarlyBird39 · 29/06/2019 17:27

I've ever been to a soft play that sells alcohol. I think it's absolutely disgusting to drink alcohol when you're supposed to be supervising small kids. Bastards.

Which country are you??

Grumpasaurus · 29/06/2019 17:31

@Jebuschristchocolatebar I would also like to know where this is. For a friend. Obvs.

Grumpasaurus · 29/06/2019 17:31

@Blindandfrozen tell me more...

BoronationStreet · 29/06/2019 17:35

I'd LOVE some booze at softplay.
