Aibu to find this heat too much. I am so not a summer person, love the actual summer holidays but not the hot weather. Melting here already at 25 degrees and climbing.

OP posts:
babysharkah · 29/06/2019 12:35

I'm struggling today I think it's because we've gone from shit to melting in 24 hours with no acclimatisation. I normally love it.

Dog is not happy either.

OhFanPolyeo · 29/06/2019 12:40

I live in Spain. 42 yesterday, 38 today. We can't go out until 8-9pm at night because the heat is crazy. We've lived here many years, the last couple of summers have been very different and silly hot.

ReturnofSaturn · 29/06/2019 12:40

Melting at 25 degrees? Seriously? People have been talking as if is 50 degrees or something Confused

Unsure72 · 29/06/2019 12:40

It’s too hot for me... luckily it’s back down to 25 degrees in London tomorrow - much more pleasant! Smile

Unsure72 · 29/06/2019 12:42

Melting at 25 degrees? Seriously

It’s 32 degrees in London so pretty hot!

Why can't you go out? I lived in Australia for a while including being heavily pregnant at the hottest time of year being 40 degrees every day, still went out and about

TeaDrinkingBumbleeBee · 29/06/2019 12:43

OP, I feel your pain! I absolutely hate it. I'm in a grump this morning because a) it's too hot. B) I've just come on my period so it's extra uncomfortable c) going out later so feel like I have to shave my legs...have now cut my legs in 5 different places d) then got blood my white dress (from the shaving!)
E) only other summer dress needs ironing

Sorry to moan! @Myusernameismud is spot on....in winter you can warm up but there's only so much you can do in this heat!!!

OtherThings · 29/06/2019 12:46

I'm loving today! I've been for a 5k run this morning, showered and I'm spending the day getting through washing all the bed linen in the house (on my 4th washing load!). Reading in the garden in between pegging out the sheets..

I'm always usually cold so it's bliss walking around the house in shorts.

Our house is very cool and never gets stuffy, luckily. just freezing in winter

OneInAMillionYou · 29/06/2019 12:47

The problem with high temps in the UK is they seem to come along with ridiculous levels of humidity. It was 95% humidity here yesterday!

Sunshine, with a gentle breeze and fresh air is fine. 32 degrees and no air is not fine. No one needs temps more than about 22, you can do anything you want outside at that level.

Getting in the car is like entering the seventh circle of hell and it takes the air con ages to kick in, by which time clothes are soaked and hair clinging to scalps. Might as well not have showered!

bingbongnoise · 29/06/2019 12:51

FGS, it's only just started! It's going to end tomorrow.

I don't know why people are moaning and griping We have hardly had a bloody summer so far.

YABU.

soundsystem · 29/06/2019 12:52

I agree whole-heartedly! 29C here threatening to be 34 later!

Have convinced the children that it's hot enough for a post-lunch nap, or at least a lie down!

bingbongnoise · 29/06/2019 12:52

The British are so lame and moany when it comes to the weather.

Can't handle a few days (or weeks) of heat IN SUMMER, can't cope with an inch of snow (IN WINTER!) Moan when it's raining, moan when it's cold.

How the F we won 2 world wars just eludes me!!!

ilovesooty · 29/06/2019 12:53

We've hardly had any summer to speak of.
23° here. Pleasant but hardly melting.

TeaDrinkingBumbleeBee · 29/06/2019 12:55

I think everybody has different experiences though. For example, some people get really cold in the winter when it's fairly mild and need extra layers or it makes them feel ill. Some people get it in winter.

Interesting twitter thread on summer SAD:

Nope the humidity here is nothing like the humidity is was every single day where we were in Queensland Australia!! Changed my clothes multiple times a day, sat in the house with sweat running down my body and back constantly.
Still no complaints and we just got on with it.

Alsohuman · 29/06/2019 13:00

I love it. We get so little of it.

thismeansnothing · 29/06/2019 13:01

Nope. I hate summer.
Roll on autumn / winter

MarshaBradyo · 29/06/2019 13:02

I love it - but staying in the garden, just went for a walk to the shops too hot out there

DuckWillow · 29/06/2019 13:05

I am loving it today as I don’t have to work so have the day to keep cool. I have worked in this heat before though so my sympathies of you have to as well.

I am going to clean the kitchen in a bit then sit in the garden.

The tortoise is roaring round the garden like a thing possessed. No weed is safe and the cats have retreated up high (the tortoise hates them and he bites).

I love watching him in this weather . The terrapin is also loving the weather and is out sunbathing.

RottnestFerry · 29/06/2019 13:07

@CitadelsofScience

Of course I do. Currently pleasantly warm at 29 degrees where I am. It will stay pleasantly warm until it starts creeping up to 40 when I might concede that it is actually hot.

OhFanPolyeo · 29/06/2019 13:17

ReturnofSaturn

It's uncomfortable and hot. Nobody goes out when it's like this, the streets are deserted.

Happierlife · 29/06/2019 13:17

I have been hiding inside the house. My skin can't cope with the humidity and sun. I either get a heat rash and/or eczema. I can't wait for winter to come. My favourite time of year.

TapasForTwo · 29/06/2019 13:21

CitadelsofScience is correct in that we don't all have the same weather. It is currently a very pleasant 25 degrees where I am which is a perfect temperature for me. Going down to 21 degrees tomorrow and lower than that for the rest of the week Sad

Not all of us can't cope with hot weather.

steakandcakes · 29/06/2019 13:24

33 here already ,its hell.

PristineCondition · 29/06/2019 13:25

How the F we won 2 world wars just eludes me!!

Hands down one of the most fucking stupid comparable things I've ever read
