Sad

He looks increasingly unwell, and seems to be getting very little mainstream media coverage.

What will it take for Nazanin to be freed Sad?

There weren’t supposed to be two pleases.

Everyone is going to die. Sorry OP.

SushiGo · 29/06/2019 06:29

I hope he is okay too. I can't bear the thought that Boris will probably become Prime Minister after all of this.

ZaraW · 29/06/2019 06:30

Sky News have been following his story. Obviously he's not looking great and how long can he continue? He won't die both parents have said they want to live for their daughter.

Did you see the petition on Change.org they are asking people to put pressure on their MPs. They state only a handful have bothered to visit Richard.

This is an ongoing nightmare for the family.

ZaraW · 29/06/2019 06:31

Divgirl really insightful comment there, well done.

floraloctopus · 29/06/2019 06:43

Sad,y I don't think she's going to be released any time soon. I can see extra charges being invented thanks to boris. It's awful that he is forced not to see his daughter either, I can't see how she'd adjust easily to life here again and what will happen when her grandparents pass away ?

KatherineJaneway · 29/06/2019 06:49

He is doing this for publicity but I don't think he will let it go that far, as he is the only one currently there for his daughter.

Iran think they have just cause. If you look at the detail it is scant but all they need unfortunately. It will take behind the scenes dealing to get her out early.

Alsohuman · 29/06/2019 06:53

His eyes haunt me, it’s hard to look at the pain in them. What a shame that the Foreign Secretary is so busy pursuing his personal ambition he has no time to try and sort this out after his predecessor made it so much worse.

toomuchtooold · 29/06/2019 06:55

The poor bloke must be completely desperate. God apart from anything else, Johnson's fucking up of this should have been enough to convince everyone he's not fit to govern.

workfromhomequestion · 29/06/2019 06:55

Yes. Despicable.

Who is Richard Ratcliffe?

workfromhomequestion · 29/06/2019 06:57

Johnson's fucking up of this should have been enough to convince everyone he's not fit to govern.

And this. It seems he only has to smile at a couple of unthinking people at a garden party to become PM. Feckless, amoral, narcissistic, lazy liar that he is.

OP posts:
SeaWitchly · 29/06/2019 06:59

It is a disgrace. Boris should be thoroughly ashamed of himself but if course he is only focused on number one and his personal ambitions Hmm
Corbyn is one of the only politicians who has bothered to show support for the poor man, he must be absolutely desperate Sad

WobblyLondoner · 29/06/2019 07:01

@MilkTrayLimeBarrel He is on hunger strike outside the Iranian embassy, in protest against the imprisonment of his wife Nazanin in Iran. See:

TidyDancer · 29/06/2019 07:03

It is so heartbreaking, the entire situation. I can't believe anyone can support Johnson for PM after what he's done to that family. They have been so let down.

OneShotLattePlease · 29/06/2019 07:06

I’ve been following his story on social media so I didn’t register that there wasn’t much mainstream coverage. Sadiq Khan, Corbyn and a few others have been to support him and posted etc. I agree he looks like a broken man-which is probably what he is. He’s sleeping in a tent outside the Iranian embassy on the street.

StealthPolarBear · 29/06/2019 07:10

I am ashamed that our next prime minister has such a visible reminder of his incompetence

floraloctopus · 29/06/2019 07:17

I think it's disgusting that there is reason for there to be such a visible reminder of his incompetence.

StealthPolarBear · 29/06/2019 07:20

Yes that's a better way of putting it

Iggly · 29/06/2019 07:20

It’s but one example of how this government fails people in need. Time and time again.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 29/06/2019 07:22

I don’t understand why this story isn’t getting more coverage.

Ringdonna · 29/06/2019 07:24

Don’t think it will achieve anything.

Juells · 29/06/2019 07:27

I saw him on Sky last night and thought he looked amazingly well for someone who hasn't eaten for two weeks. He said they (presumably he and wife) would talk on Monday and decide whether to continue.

I can't see Iran being moved by hunger strikes. Margaret Thatcher wasn't, was she?

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 29/06/2019 07:34

Boris fucked up spectacularly, (and would be a diabolical PM) but the truth is this isn’t about Nazanin, - or only as far as she can be used by Iran for leverage. It’s not even about UK politics, it’s global.

It’s heartbreaking for the family and I really hope Richard doesn’t come to any harm.

megletthesecond · 29/06/2019 07:37

It's awful isn't it. I've signed what I can but i think there's a letter template I can do.

The poor family.
