To feel the rage with “teacher tired” posts

Rainbowsandglitterbullshit · 28/06/2019 18:26

The season of teachers posting SM messages “no one knows tired like an end of term teacher/TA/dinner lady” is almost upon us.

I want to scream, what about the fuckers who work stupid hours all week and don’t get 6 weeks off in the summer, half term, two weeks Easter, two weeks at Christmas.

I wouldn’t be a teacher for all the tea in China but these people chose their career.

Grrr, actually don’t care if I’m BU.

If you don't believe that teachers work all hours and days of the week and will certainly be working much if not all of their "6 week holidays", try some statistics.

Figures show that 36,000 working-age teachers stepped down from the profession last year, with fewer being trained. Yet pupil figures are set to rise by 19% over the next decade. ... Only 80% of people who qualify as teachers go into the profession and one in three teachers quits the classroom within the first five years

Being a teacher nowadays is unsustainable and teachers burn out very quickly. They're not merrily clocking off work at 3pm and having 6 weeks holidays.

Lizzie3869 · 28/06/2019 20:25

Why does it have to be a competition?? I have the utmost respect for teachers, it's certainly not a job I would ever want to do. I'm also very grateful to my DDs' teachers.

I honestly can't remember a teacher on Mumsnet claiming that their job is harder than anyone else's. If they get defensive sometimes, it's because of posters going on about their long holidays or stupid posts like this one:

The moaning teachers finished for the day not long after 15:30 didn't they?

You don't get threads criticising doctors, or lawyers, or engineers. You really don't.

Piggywaspushed · 28/06/2019 20:25

And, yes. It is patently obvious you aren't a teacher.

Rainbowsandglitterbullshit · 28/06/2019 20:26

Thanks piggy your input is first class.

And anyway, just because some teachers post on SM that they are tired and looking forward to the end of term doesn't mean that they are saying no one else is also tired!

And when teachers complain about the workload or the mental load or the physical and emotional load of teaching, they're not saying that no one else also experiences that, just that they do.

I don't know why when a teacher says they are relieved that the end of term is nearly upon them, other people hear "your job is easy".

The "there's no tired like a teacher at the end of term tired" is more of an in joke because everyone knows that they are tired!

If I read a post saying, "there's no busy like an accountant in the run up to the end of the tax year busy" and all the other accountants 'liked' it, I wouldn't take that as a personal criticism!

Sparklesocks · 28/06/2019 20:27

If you like we can make a certificate up for you saying your job is hard too Grin

Rainbowsandglitterbullshit · 28/06/2019 20:27

Thanks @Sparklesocks I’d like that.

Teachers do overdo it with their moaning.

But they are very easy to wind up about it!

Piggywaspushed · 28/06/2019 20:28

You actually do get doctor bashing threads on here. I am sure it is the only other profession on here that gets it in the neck but I haven't extensively surveyed.

CanILeavenowplease · 28/06/2019 20:29

Dear god, the bitterness about holidays truly out and proud tonight, eh?

I am knackered. My private school finishes next week. Looking forward to 8 weeks off.

Piggywaspushed · 28/06/2019 20:29

No need for the sarcasm OP. People asked you what job you did (not me btw) . You responded with euphemisms which makes one wonder why.

Rainbowsandglitterbullshit · 28/06/2019 20:30

Doctor bashing? There’s little comparison in my opinion.

Boneyback

Everyone works solid hard graft evenings AND weekends. They don’t get 13 weeks off though they get 4 if they’re lucky.

You try again.

Rainbowsandglitterbullshit · 28/06/2019 20:31

Piggy are you real? You post HTH then say there’s no need for sarcasm?

Front facing role with the general public in a high emotion industry...Receptionist at a funeral parlour?

Rainbowsandglitterbullshit · 28/06/2019 20:33

@vampirethriller - your presumption amuses me.

Yes I’m part time trapeze and part time clown. The big shoes give me a great deal of stress
😂😂😂😂, sorry this made me laugh

Shayne11 · 28/06/2019 20:34

Same as everyone else then.

Oh no you get 9 weeks more holiday.

How about that.

vampirethriller · 28/06/2019 20:35

Thank you. I aim to please.

mumsneedwine · 28/06/2019 20:36

Would it make people feel better if I say teaching is really easy, relaxing and has short hours and long holidays ? There you go. Everyone happy.
I'll get back to 3 hours of report writing (so far).

Rainbowsandglitterbullshit · 28/06/2019 20:38

Thanks for cheering me up this evening! This post wasn’t necessarily all that serious just a bit of rage (not real rage) at a SM post.

I am very angry at lots of other serious issues but this has made me forget them for a moment or two.

Piggywaspushed · 28/06/2019 20:38

Oh yes I am real. HTH .

Pole dancer? I imagine that's pretty high emotion...

Rainbowsandglitterbullshit · 28/06/2019 20:39

@mumsneedwine report writing and mumsnet posting?

I am trying to think of a job where you have to project your voice in the classroom, corridor, etc, change audiences every 45 minutes (a'level, then yr 7 , then yr 9, etc) , shift venues, while all the time taking charge of a rotating 30 individuals (so in one day, 150 different pupils) when, because they are children you have to constantly wear a false persona and hold at the forefront of your mind their individual needs. What exhausted me was th econstantly being 'on'.
