My plates smell of egg

My mum gets this (maybe she taught it to me!) but DH doesn’t

If we use a jug or plate for egg then it smells of egg so I usually use a bit of bleach or zofloro or something to get rid of the smell.

DH made me some toast in bed and the plates smells of egg so much so I’m having to get too close to the plate. He doesn’t really get it ofc.

Does anyone else know what I’m talking about?

I also think reheated chicken can get a funny taste and tastes “chickeny” 😬

Yes! We definitely get this with things coming out of the dishwasher sometimes and DH and I will say the glasses smell like wet dog!

I had to find out if was the only person sensitive to the smell of egg on plates and cutlery. As a child my mother insisted on a raw egg beaten up in hot milk for breakfast. I could smell the mug even after washing outside the cupboard. I always wondered if it was that experience that triggered my abhorrence and sensitivity. I soak anything that has been exposed to eggy ingredients in bicarbonate and washing up liquid for 24 hours before putting in the dishwasher.

This is why I never put anything that's come in contact with eggs in the dishwasher. If you do, then EVERYTHING has the egg smell.

If I use a jug/bowl for making scrambled eggs, I fill it with warm soapy water and leave it for a few hours.
