To light a BBQ at 9pm?

bbqqq · 27/06/2019 20:51

Just about to finishing assembling a new BBQ as DP has been at work until 7pm.

The sun is shining, we have BBQ food we want to eat but I'm realising now that even though I love the smell of a BBQ my neighbours might not appreciate it at this time of night.

DP doesn't see the problem so I'm coming here to ask if we would BU to light a BBQ now?

Perfectly alright. Enjoy.

CherryPavlova · 27/06/2019 20:53

If you’ve under a third of an acre, I’d say it wasn’t good on a work night.

Lizzielocket · 27/06/2019 20:54

Ahh light it, in a months time the evenings will start drawing in, make the most of the warm, light evenings.
We have a massive bbq planned tomorrow, the neighbours are all invited so nobody can complain.

Manclife1 · 27/06/2019 20:55

Crack on just keep the noise down a bit.

Iwantacookie · 27/06/2019 20:55

Do it everyone will of brought washing in

Slicedpineapple · 27/06/2019 20:56

Do it, just be considerate of noise levels

bbqqq · 27/06/2019 20:56

Oh, I was expecting a flurry of no, don't light it! Hmm, maybe we will get our (late) tea after all! He's in the final processes of the assembly so around 5 mins to go!

Pipandmum · 27/06/2019 20:57

I’d say do it. I love the smell of a bbq!

bbqqq · 27/06/2019 20:57

We won't be noisy, it's just the two of us, kids in bed

ParrotsForLife · 27/06/2019 20:58

Ah crack on. My washing was in hours ago.
To be fair the smell of a bbq never annoys me, it just makes me hungry!

sarahg216 · 27/06/2019 20:58

If there’s anyone in the first trimester of pregnancy nearby then yes YRBVU!!!!
Ignore me, even I know that’s unreasonable Grin

AppleKatie · 27/06/2019 20:58

If you’re going to be quiet sounds like the perfect time of night for a bbq! Enjoy 🤣

Excited101 · 27/06/2019 20:59

Do it!

mbosnz · 27/06/2019 21:00

Go for it! Wish we were doing the same. . .

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 27/06/2019 21:00

DO IT.

I don't mind the smell of other people's BBQ's it makes me feel like it's Proper Summer.

Enjoy!!

TrixieFranklin · 27/06/2019 21:05

I think it's fine, it's nice of you to consider your neighbours so I'm sure you'll be courteous enough to keep it down whilst out there. Our neighbours are all watching the football and shouting at their TVs with their doors and windows open so I think tonight's one of those nights where no one minds anyway!

bbqqq · 27/06/2019 21:07

Thanks all. We're going to do it! DP says he feels "really great" that MN agree with him Grin

OP posts:
TrixieFranklin · 27/06/2019 21:09

So he should Wink

ParrotsForLife · 27/06/2019 21:12

MN has spoken OP.
Bring on the burgers.

SewButtons · 27/06/2019 21:16

I’d rather that than earlier in the day to be honest.
My neighbours always seem to light theirs as soon as I put washing out. At least at 9pm washing would be in and kids wouldn’t be in the garden anymore.

bbqqq · 27/06/2019 21:18

It's lit!!!!!

OP posts:
leavethelambsalone · 27/06/2019 21:21

no everyone will have to close their windows selfish glad you arent my neighbour or I'd be getting the hose out to water the plants or your bbq -stinking thing

bbqqq · 27/06/2019 21:28

Nobody has closed their windows yet. Someone just walked past and said, lovely night for it.

But yes, that's why I was asking, trying not to be selfish! Went with the majority. It's too late now!

OP posts:
DontCallMeShitley · 27/06/2019 21:31

I'm with leavethelambsalone on this one. I have to close my windows pretty much every day and night in summer because of various polluting stinks, fire pits, bonfires of garden waste, bonfires of builders waste and BBQ's.

Anyone with asthma doesn't stand a chance and with the heat during the day it is often the only time you can get cool air. So many thoughtless and selfish people about these days.

I hate living in the middle of it all but I can't escape.

AppleKatie · 27/06/2019 21:37

I’m an asthmatic who loves the smell and isn’t triggered by it so not quite ‘anyone with asthma’.

And hilarious poster who thinks hosing your neighbours dinner is less rude than lighting a bbq!

It’s a totally normal, legal and seasonal thing to do OP.
