To light a BBQ at 9pm?

Just about to finishing assembling a new BBQ as DP has been at work until 7pm.

The sun is shining, we have BBQ food we want to eat but I'm realising now that even though I love the smell of a BBQ my neighbours might not appreciate it at this time of night.

DP doesn't see the problem so I'm coming here to ask if we would BU to light a BBQ now?

Thanks apple. Really wouldn't want to upset the neighbours.

But if they come out and hose my tea I will not be happy!

And DP has asthma now you mention it. He's fine, in his element actually

lambs and Shitley, what's the solution then? Should BBQs be illegal?

I can't understand how people survive living at close quarters with others, when the everyday evidence of other people living their lives makes them so angry. Kids kicking footballs in the garden. Neighbours burning wood in a firepit. People cooking food on a BBQ. All completely normal and inoffensive suburban activities, all drive some MNers into a rage.

Absolutely do it - everyone's washing will be taken in already and as it's just the two of you, there's no noise issue.
I'm quite jealous actually - picturing you sitting out enjoying a wee glass of something as the sun sets Smile Enjoy.

My only issue would be the smell. It would make me hungry and I’d pig out on junk when I’m on a diet Grin

DH is the asthmatic in the house. The dude with his snout firmly affixed in the current new love of his life - his charcoal BBQ. . . so far we haven't had to call the ambulance.

I know we're all at close quarters, but we need to have a bit of give and take - I don't mention our neighbours piano playing and singing, their disagreements etc, and they are tolerant of our BBQ'ing, and fire-pitting habits, and don't mention the appalling music played on Youtube on Friday. . .

Yes,just get on with it, especially as you have all new stuff. It's brilliant weather, so just enjoy everything, and wish it was me having a Barbie, but I am not.

I have a family member who will BBQ at 2am, when they get home from work.

DontCallMeShitley · 29/06/2019 17:19

There is a haze over the neighbourhood here, and while a BBQ is not so bad, we do have a family member that struggles with a breathing disorder so windows need to be shut a lot.

Wood smoke is a problem, so not just complaining about everything for the sake of it. If people are burning household waste/builders waste like they do here I wish that we did have a smoke free zone, it would help lower the pollution levels.

Not everyone is unaffected by wood smoke or BBQ residue.
