To buy some cigarettes?

Dh and I quit smoking 5 years ago. We had none for 3 years then decided to have a few on holiday. Pack of 20 lasted us a week and we didn't touch them for 12 months until our next holiday. We enjoy it and don't have any problems stopping when we get home.

We got home yesterday from our latest holiday. I'm due on and have raging pmt, dh suggested I go and buy some smokes to ease my mood and call it a holiday extension.

Good idea or not? Fwiw I don't think there'll be a problem stopping again, would 100% never smoke in front of dc and would just have a few when they're in bed. Wibu?

Nope. Just do it.

OMGLongVac · 27/06/2019 20:45

Congratulations on your new smoking habit.

HJWT · 27/06/2019 20:46

@DaanSaaf if you have quit, then you shouldn't smoke once you get home.

dentydown · 27/06/2019 20:46

Chocolate, foot massage, McDonald’s anything but smoking.

1WayOrAnother · 27/06/2019 20:46

No! Ex smoker here too, last year found myself smoking occasionally when drunk then getting drunk so I could smoke. Now sober & abstinent. It's a really slippery slope. Just don't.

KnifeAngel · 27/06/2019 20:47

You haven't got over your addiction.

Soubriquet · 27/06/2019 20:47

No don’t do it

It’s just a holiday extension can happen everytime you’re stressed

Not worth the temptation

DaanSaaf · 27/06/2019 20:47

I've had chocolate, long bath, ecig. Might just take myself to bed until it passes.

DaanSaaf · 27/06/2019 20:48

KnifeAngel no I haven't, hence the ecig.

Don't do it. It's disgusting and really bad for your health. I have no idea why seemingly intelligent adults take up smoking.

DaanSaaf · 27/06/2019 21:00

I wasn't an intelligent adult when I took up smoking @Baritriwsahys, I was a dumb arsed kid

OP posts:
Baritriwsahys · 27/06/2019 21:04

I understand that. But you have stopped.

Presumably you are an intelligent adult now?

DaanSaaf · 27/06/2019 21:08

Meh...

I didn't get any. You gang of sensible shites put me off. Still grumpy though.

evianskin · 27/06/2019 21:09

Don't do it man. I started off as an occasional smoker and now I'm addicted. Trying to quit and using champix to stop but the side effects are awful 😩 Fags are vile - don't do it!

Beautiful3 · 27/06/2019 21:39

No dont do it.

Baritriwsahys · 27/06/2019 21:43

Grumpy but intelligent Grin

Good choice.

OldAndWornOut · 27/06/2019 22:00

I gave up for two years, then had an odd one.
Then I bought 10 and they lasted me months.
Then 10 lasted me a week...
Do you see where this is going?
I had to give up all over again.

codemonkey · 27/06/2019 22:07

So you gave up.smoking then decided to start again and want a pat on the back the latter? Twats

codemonkey · 27/06/2019 22:08

"for the latter

Hinchunup · 27/06/2019 22:15

Please don't. My mum had no obvious problems relating to her moderate smoking habit. BP was OK etc but she had a near fatal stroke 9 weeks ago and is still learning to walk again. It was her only lifestyle risk factor

@DaanSaaf
Please don't buy a pack, I was a smoker for 46 years, I had a stroke last year, no ongoing after effects thank goodness but it looks like I've stopped now. I do have a vape and I use it, and that has helped with the nicotine craving. I also had the odd fag now and again but I started to realise that it's really revolting and it makes you smell awful. I can't remember the last time I smoked a fag.
For me changing the language I used around smoking helped, I haven't given up, that phrase makes me think I've deprived myself of something good.
You have a choice now, either you start again or you don't bother.
Just to add that I have a blood pressure monitor at home, I've taken my BP then smoked a cigarette and taken my BP again, it's considerably higher after smoking.

MrTumbleTumble · 27/06/2019 23:14

Well done for resisting the temptation. You'll be so glad you did once the PMT passes. Hope you feel better soon!
