To find people's surnames that really don't fit their jobs funny

DH knows an accountant called Mr Crook, I always giggle when he mentions him as I still find the name funny after all these years, apparently he's got a very serious personality and doesn't like anyone joking about the name, to be fair he's probably heard them all by now! Separately, our old neighbour was a baker and his name really suited his job as he was actually a Mr Baker! Do you know anyone with a surname that either does or doesn't fit their profession?

Forgot to say, I also know of an academic with the surname Doctor, so when she got her PhD she was Doctor Doctor. There is a law firm called Wright Hassall: read it out loud and it just about sums up most situations where one might need a lawyer! Oh, and the American Ambassador to the UK is called Woody Johnson - especially the way that Americans use 'Johnson'. the name sounds more like a porn star than a diplomat!

MaudeLynne · 27/06/2019 23:51

At school we had Mrs Cook to teach cooking, Fowler in games, and the two music teachers were Morris & Dance. I think there was also something amusing with woodwork/metalwork, but it's a long time ago!

I used to work with Michael Jackson (who was in his 60s).
Such a common combination of a name and surname, but he hated it for some reason.

A colleague who teaches about tech and e-learning, called Mr McElearney

jcyclops · 28/06/2019 01:00

Oh, also, my Domestic Science teacher's first name was Do. pronounced Dough. (Short for Doreen, but no-one ever called her that apparently. I know this because her daughter was in my class.)

TooManyPaws · 28/06/2019 01:37

I knew someone whose surname was Wren. She joined the Women's Royal Naval Service when it existed and became Wren Wren. She was promptly given the nickname Jenny and I never knew her as anything else.

I was also told of one ship that had a Lieutenant [rank] Commander [surname]. Every time the tannoy went for him, there would be several Lieutenant-Commanders [rank] calling in to say "I didn't catch the surname, was it me you needed?"
