To find people's surnames that really don't fit their jobs funny

DH knows an accountant called Mr Crook, I always giggle when he mentions him as I still find the name funny after all these years, apparently he's got a very serious personality and doesn't like anyone joking about the name, to be fair he's probably heard them all by now! Separately, our old neighbour was a baker and his name really suited his job as he was actually a Mr Baker! Do you know anyone with a surname that either does or doesn't fit their profession?

My DM's favourite announcement when she was outpatients sister: 'Mr Corps' (patient) 'for Mr Coffin' (surgeon).

Two teachers in reception called Mrs Diaper and Miss Goodchild. Also in childhood I remember hearing about a junior school teacher called Miss Smellie. I bet she couldn't wait to get married and change her name.

I had a GP when I was kids whose name was Dr. Superdoc. At the time I thought it was amazingly great that he had such a ridiculous name and what are the chances considering he is actually a doctor!

As a grown up (I've actually googled him and he is really still practicing and that is really his name), I actually can see how odd that was. He must have changed his name by deed poll (or whatever the process, I did not live in the UK as a child). And he was a GP in a paed practice (it's normal to have specialist paed GPs there) and it comes across as super creepy to me now, because he was really overly friendly and I just think what weirdo would do that?

But I thought it was great as a kid.

Two psychiatrists in my old home town called Slaughter and Death. (Same building, different practice.) Death pronounced Deeth, according to friend who worked in the building. Many sniggers from school kids (like myself) going past the building on the way to the bus!

DpWm · 29/06/2019 10:16

Ah yes I've known a Dr D'eath pronounced Deeth but not by everyone.
