To not have known what an ombre lob was?

I read it on here and googled it. Some of the photos of this look really nice. But I had wondered why some of the woman I see looked so "made up" but had let their roots grow back so much.

I didn't know what the "lob" part meant.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 24/06/2019 20:34

I always thought a lob was a type of worm - O assumed it was something to do with fishing...

TabbyMumz · 24/06/2019 21:17

What is ombre lob?

RoomR0613 · 24/06/2019 21:23

Lob = long bob

Ombre - that hair colour that's lighter at the ends than at the root. Usually photographed after being curled because otherwise it looks like someone fell backwards into a mop bucket full of bleach

Were you on the nursery thread OP? Grin

PinguDance · 24/06/2019 21:37

Lol I read that OP and have to say it was quite a good description of many of the thirty something Mums I saw in Kew Gardens last weekend.

Oh shit. I have an ombre lob and I didn't even know!!

Hairdresser always calls mine a "Balayage" or "root stretch" though.

Poetryinaction · 24/06/2019 22:21

I didn't know either. Or loads of the labels mentioned.

Seeline · 24/06/2019 22:27

I read that and assumed 'lob' was a typo for 'bob'! I knew ombre though so probably my mental image wasn't far out 😁

Meowandchoppychops · 24/06/2019 22:47

Haha that's what my hair looked like 2 years after growing a permanent hair dye out. Can't believe people pay £££ for it. Can look quite nice if done properly.
Think I'll go back to a lob.

jennymanara · 24/06/2019 22:55

@Crunchymum yes Grin

Isn't it just an updated version of the 'can I speak to the manager?' haircut?

supersop60 · 24/06/2019 23:07

Round here, a lob means an erection.
So I was a bit Confused at the title.

Northernknickers · 24/06/2019 23:14

Haha @supersop60 same here! (Although I haven't heard it for years 😂). Usually uttered as a question ie 'Did you see Big Dave?...he got a right 'lob on' when Busty Bab walked past!'

(Reverted right back to 1973 😳😂)

catinboots99 · 24/06/2019 23:19

NorthernKnickers I really really want to live in the 70s with you and Big Dave and Busty Babs! I reckon I'd fit right in 😂

Merryoldgoat · 24/06/2019 23:22

I was planning on having this done but I ain’t no Yummy Mummy for sure...

Anarchyshake · 24/06/2019 23:23

Lob 😂 that's rude where I've just moved from, as in "I got a right lob on when I saw my missus is that sexy dress".

Charmatt · 24/06/2019 23:26

'He's got a lob on' means something else round here as supersop said, so God knows what people would think if 'he had an ombre lob on instead!Blush

jennymanara · 24/06/2019 23:29

Grin I didnt know that

The 'design led' nursery thread? It was a very vivid picture Grin

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 25/06/2019 01:04

I have one of those OP by mistake it's called growing your roots out

Purpleartichoke · 25/06/2019 01:50

Around here it is called a balayage and I pay crazy money to get it done. Get tons of complements on my hair now. It was just depressing before and this is a great low maintenance style.

Of course, I thought that nursery sounded perfect so I might not be the target audience for this particular thread.

cantfindname · 25/06/2019 02:24

I reckon it's short for lobotomy, 'cause when they follow a trend like sheep that's what they look like they have had.

transformandriseup · 25/06/2019 06:18

I asked about having this done at my hairdressers as it’s very popular in the area.

I was advised it was too high maintenance for me which is sadly very true plus I worry what work would have said. I liked to imagine the colours I would have had though.
