With carrots and celery to make bourguinon?

Or would that just be utterly vile?

Can't really be bothered chopping fresh onion...

I always have frozen diced onion in but never knew you could get it tinned!

hipslikecinderella · 23/06/2019 19:46

I didn't know tinned were a thing.
Depends what state they are in tbh.

Dahlietta · 23/06/2019 19:46

I've never come across tinned eazy onions, but the 'z' makes me nervous.

SillyBub · 23/06/2019 19:46

But yet you can be bothered to chop carrots and celery? Confused. Chopping an onion takes a minute or two? Confused

dudsville · 23/06/2019 19:47

Urgh.....

MammaMia19 · 23/06/2019 19:49

I didn’t know you could get tinned ones.
I only buy frozen pre chopped ones. Makes life so much easier!

Nectarines · 23/06/2019 19:49

Frozen chopped onions are a game changer

But like pp. the z unnerves me!! Are they (shudder) in brine?

Fucksandflowers · 23/06/2019 19:51

But yet you can be bothered to chop carrots and celery?

No, if they were available ready chopped I'd buy them too!

I haven't made it yet, I'm doing my shopping list for the week and fancying bourguinon.

You could have chopped an onion in the time it took to start this thread and keep popping back to respond.

TheHandsOfNeilBuchanan · 23/06/2019 19:52

Stop being lazy and chop a bloody onion, it takes a minute.

Dahlietta · 23/06/2019 19:52

I just googled them. They're already fried. Barf.

Celebelly · 23/06/2019 19:53

Get frozen diced onions - I haven't chopped an onion in ages! I have frozen garlic too. Splendid.

Shock Morrisons online says they do ready chopped frozen onion, carrot and celery all packed together ready for me to sauté!

I am definitely buying a few bags of that tomorrow!

No need for tinned onions

Eazy Onions are actually quite nice. They give a really nice depth of flavour as they’ve been pre-fried. And basically just onions, oil and salt so not terrible. I use them for soups a lot.

Celebelly · 23/06/2019 19:56

I sometimes get the fresh diced veg combo packs for making soups. Will have to see if they do frozen ones at Tesco so I can have some in stock too!

codemonkey · 23/06/2019 20:09

Chopping onionz makes me feel alive.

FortunaMajor · 23/06/2019 20:09

Sainsburys sell a bag of diced onion, carrot & celery mix for about a quid in the fresh section.

codemonkey · 23/06/2019 20:10

I think it's weird to neglect the onion in favour of the carrot. When I make my sofrito it's definitely the carrot I resent.

ohhelpohnoitsa · 23/06/2019 20:13

OP, order sofritto from Ocado. It's exactly what you need in your freezer.

my2bundles · 23/06/2019 20:14

By the time you have opened the tin you could have chopped an onion, plus fresh is cheaper.

BringOnTheScience · 23/06/2019 20:15

For those complaining about how much quicker it is to just chop a fresh onion... just have a thought for folks with physical difficulties for whom pre-prepped ingredients are a marvellous thing.

DC1 is dyspraxic. Having a bag of chopped onion in the freezer means they can quickly & safely cook. There's also zero waste.

codemonkey · 23/06/2019 20:15

Not sure which way to vote... YABU for singling out the poor onion. YANBU for wanting a time saving help with sofrito. Carrots are slags.

Ivegotthree · 23/06/2019 20:16

Yabu. Sounds disgusting.

BumandChips · 23/06/2019 20:19

I hate chopping onions. Frozen chopped onions make my life better.
