I abu posting here but frankly I don't care anymore. I'm exhausted and just want some sleep :-( if anyone could tell me what's going on I'd really appreciate it!

I'm 39 weeks. Meant to be having an induction on Monday but not too keen so consultant agreed we would try a sweep on Friday and give baby a chance until Monday to come by him/herself. Had the sweep, uncomfortable after with cramp type pains. I was 2cm dilated I think at that point.

Yesterday morning (Saturday) my plug started coming out (sorry tmi) in clumpy bits this has continued all day.

At 2am this morning I had to get up out of bed as couldn't sleep. Baby has been wiggling about like mad and I keep having period like pain on and off. It's hard to tell if my stomach is hardening with the pain as it's quite solid now anyway (not much space!) but if I had to guess I'd say yes it is. So every time I fell asleep either the baby would wake me or the discomfort would. I'd say the pains are every half hour or so and last about 30 seconds/a minute. My back is killing me. I feel like I need a poop (sorry!) but can't seem to go and I just am fed up and uncomfortable :-( :-(

Anyone got any insight?

I'm aware even this post is probably pointless as no one can physically examine me etc but it's taking my mind off of things.

Also dh is snoring so badly I just completely lost my rag and snapped at him so now I feel a complete cow too.

Basically this baby is very wanted (previous losses), I've had anxiety all pregnancy, and now I just want them out 🤦🏻‍♀️

Definitely sounds like you could be, esp as plug has come away.
Taking it your waters haven’t gone?
Give your midwife team a ring (PAU) and tell them whats happening, they might invite you in or they might say call back when the contractions get a bit closer.
Could you have a bath? Shower? Warm water is really soothing.
Good luck, hopefully won’t be long before you meet baby!

Justwantsleepnow · 23/06/2019 04:29

@Grumpos (love the username, I feel very grumpy atm! 🙈)

I think I'm struggling with the uncertainty as in such a control freak and the constant starting/stopping is driving me mad :-( nope no sign of waters. Was going to ring the midwife but I feel like they'll just say it could be labour or it might not :-/

I'm in the spare bed now away from the snoring but with my two very concerned cocker spaniels 😂

Sounds exactly how my last labour began...the period pains lasted a day then stopped, then started again at 4am and baby was out by midday. You've got nothing to lose by calling the midwife I guess, you can always ask to come in and be checked.
How exciting... and bless the dogs for looking after you!

Justwantsleepnow · 23/06/2019 04:39

@ninecoronas I so hope you're right 🤞🤞 I really didn't fancy an induction but obviously whatever is best for baby.

Hah yes they are good dogs, although one of them seems to think the best way to protect me is to sit as close to me as possible and occasionally do a little check by licking me 😳

Weirdly since posting this the pains seem to have eased off 🙄🙄🙄🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Am going to try and get some sleep just in case anyway :-) thank you both for your advice!

This sounds like the niggling I had for several days before I had my baby at 39 weeks. If your plug is coming away and you're getting pains that are more than Brixton Hicks then I'm sure it's all headed in the right direction and things will start properly soon.

b0bb1n · 23/06/2019 04:44

Possible if not now then very soon. Once I lost my plug the real contractions started not long after. Had bub 2 days later. Good luck and congrats SmileFlowers

ninecoronas · 23/06/2019 04:44

Good luck...sounds like you'll soon have baby in your arms Smile

Raver84 · 23/06/2019 07:02

Yes it does the back pain and the mucous. I think this is it good luck x

LettuceP · 23/06/2019 07:18

Sounds exactly like my first. Plug came away on the Friday, had mild contractions stopping and and starting then they ramped up enough to go in to mat unit in the early hours of Sunday morning, had her Sunday afternoon.

My advice is to try and sleep, I had two sleepless nights because of contractions and excitement and the exhaustion absolutely did me in after baby was out.

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 23/06/2019 07:22

Sounds like your body is getting ready this is fantastic news for your induction and means it more likely to be successful. Spend today doing things that you fancy doing that make you relaxed and happy.

You will have a baby in your arms soon.

BeanBag7 · 23/06/2019 07:22

Sounds like very early labour. Either way you'll find out soon enough!

purplepeppapig · 23/06/2019 07:31

It sounds like it, good luck. The dogs probably know if you are or not.

artio0 · 23/06/2019 07:39

I am no expert and my labour started completely different but when you say the baby is moving like mad do you mean moving a lot more than usual? If so I'd call triage at the hospital just to see what they say, mine said to go in if movements become a lot less or more just to make sure baby isn't distressed.

Hope it's the real deal and he/she slides out in no time :)...

Justwantsleepnow · 23/06/2019 08:53

Morning! Still stuck in limbo of pains starting and stopping with not much sleep 🤦🏻‍♀️

@artio0 I have the worlds most active baby some days then laziest the next 😂 one of the reasons for induction on Monday is because of this :-) so when I say wiggling like mad that is normal for baby some days :-) thank you though your absolutely right best to get checked! :-)

ThePhoenixRises · 23/06/2019 23:07

Have you tried a hot bath, apparently a hot bath, either stops the pains or it brings them on more rapidly depending on how ready your body is for full labour.

I say apparently as I have never tried it but others have said it worked for them.

user1473878824 · 23/06/2019 23:11

OP, whatever is happening right now, CONGRATS! xxx

Justwantsleepnow · 24/06/2019 01:01

Nothing atm :-( lost more plug and still uncomfortable but no signs of impending arrival!

@ThePhoenixRises believe me I have tried every rumour of pregnancy starting under the sun....🙈🙈

Bit gutted as going in for induction today (Monday) and would rather baby had come of their own accord but at least I know he/she will soon be here :-) can't even sleep because baby keeps kicking me awake 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

S1naidSucks · 24/06/2019 01:07

Wishing you all the best for later, OP. I hope you manage to get some sleep.

MollyHuaCha · 24/06/2019 01:10

Good luck OP!

Frogqueen13 · 24/06/2019 01:11

Hopefully you are in early labour but dilating so when you go for your induction- it will just be a case of breaking your waters and letting nature take its course xx

netflixlove · 24/06/2019 01:15

Good luck @Justwantsleepnow
Hope baby decides to come soon, I'm sorry you've been so anxious!

I have a cocker spaniel too so it makes me smile thinking about your 2 sitting with you! I hope my spaniel stays close to me when I'm pregnant in the future. Amazing dogsSmile

Justwantsleepnow · 24/06/2019 06:12

Thank you everyone 😊😊 been getting pains again since about 3... tried to sleep though and have 😀😀

Meant to go into the hospital for 10 so baby has 3/4 hours to get a wriggle on 😂

@netflixlove without a doubt one of the best breed of dogs 😊 they are so attentive to me and in tune with my every move! Dh jokes atm because they are both like my shadow, they can be fast asleep and if I get up to go to loo or whatever they are instantly awake and coming with me 😂😂

@justwantsleepnow I was like this on DD2. Had pains on & off for about 5 days before induction, turns out I was in slow labour & was 4 nearly 5cm dilated when I got to hospital for induction. They started induction & she arrived within 2 hours. Quickest & pain free labour I've had! Midwives couldn't believe it, she actually was born blue as she came so fast down the birth canal.
