To start another toilet brush thread?!

Ok so I know this is a perennial Mumsnet topic and undoubtedly has been discussed before but I'm longing to know what people do if they don't have a toilet brush?

Full disclosure: I have a toilet brush. Nay, I have two! Grin And I never realised they were optional until I joined MN. But anyway... So I went to a good friend's house the other day and got caught short with a dodgy tummy. No choice but to despoil her loo. Looked around for the toilet brush to tidy the place up and lo...there was none. Was forced to stick my hand down the loo and clean up with loo roll. Gross! Is that really what people do?

The weirdos on here will just tell you they squirt bleach on it - even if it’s a floater that won’t go down.Grin

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 21/06/2019 19:12

No. The civilised amongst us have a toilet brush Grin

Dons tin hat and runs away

BeanBag7 · 21/06/2019 19:13

YABU there are too many threads on this topic.

mouldyhousemouldylife · 21/06/2019 19:13

Well you did it ...

itsbetterwithoutyou · 21/06/2019 19:14

If you don't have a toilet brush how do you get rid of below water level skid marks?

Fairylea · 21/06/2019 19:14

I love a toilet brush! The Tesco value ones are so cheap you can replace them very often. .

AuntGinny · 21/06/2019 19:14

I have 2 toilet brushes too so I honestly couldn't tell you what people who don't have one do.

I thought they (and bathroom bins) were standard mandatory until I came on here and realised I was a bidet less peasant

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 21/06/2019 19:15

I've recently converted to silicone loo brushes. They're marvelous

Fairylea · 21/06/2019 19:15

See I am a mumsnet outcast because I have two toilet brushes and no bathroom bins.

The horror.

nocoolnamesleft · 21/06/2019 19:15

I'm tempted, with the next replacement, to get Donald Trump toilet brushes...

Dontrainonmyparade · 21/06/2019 19:16

Bleach.

And duck disposable brushes.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 21/06/2019 19:18

I don't have a toilet brush. I very rarely need one.

On those rare occasions, a quick swipe with loo roll works perfectly well. It's not pleasant but it's bearable. Obviously I wash my hands thoroughly after Grin

hazeyjane · 21/06/2019 19:18

Toilet brush
Bin
No bleach

millymae · 21/06/2019 19:32

Joseph Joseph flex brush user here which is like a spatula - love it.
I was very jealous on the last toilet brush thread though of the poster who had an Alessi one that looked like a plant in a pot.

Passthegin99 · 21/06/2019 19:43

Bleach! Hmm I would definitely rather be a dirty bog brush user than be squirting bleach at everything.

@Fairylea I also have no bathroom bins either! Well I do have one but it's open so I imagine rather off putting for tampon use. Although that's another thread.

@JohnLapsleyParlabane what's so good about silicone brushes? I only replace mine when they fall apart (it's all coming out now) so I'm unlikely to get one but perhaps I can be persuaded!

The lumpy bits rinse off much really well and they don't go pink

imgoingtoburst · 21/06/2019 20:00

I have a duck disposable one 🙈 is that bad?!

CheshireDing · 21/06/2019 20:11

i use rubber gloves and flushable wipes, can get right down to the bend, give it a good wipe all round , flush the loo whilst glove in there to rinse it (whilst still on hand but without getting arm wet). Then turn the glove half inside it whilst taking if off
Don’t need to touch the outside and can put it back on again next time
Then chuck them away intermittently

hiccupgate · 21/06/2019 20:12

"the lumpy bits" 🤢

BitOfFun · 21/06/2019 20:15

I thought "flushable wipes" were a bog-blocking myth?

MaryPopppins · 21/06/2019 20:15

Yes. I wouldn't like to not have toilet brushes.

I get the black cheaply IKEA ones as I can't be doing with the colour white ones turn once they get toilet cleaner/bleach on them.

I use Splosh toilet cleaner and scrub round with that daily. But then also bleach the loos when I'm doing a more thorough clean.

IdaDown · 21/06/2019 20:20

Hey MillyMae - was it me? Love the brush...

IhaveALooBrush · 21/06/2019 20:21

I don't have one.

Just kidding.
