To start another toilet brush thread?!

Ok so I know this is a perennial Mumsnet topic and undoubtedly has been discussed before but I'm longing to know what people do if they don't have a toilet brush?

Full disclosure: I have a toilet brush. Nay, I have two! Grin And I never realised they were optional until I joined MN. But anyway... So I went to a good friend's house the other day and got caught short with a dodgy tummy. No choice but to despoil her loo. Looked around for the toilet brush to tidy the place up and lo...there was none. Was forced to stick my hand down the loo and clean up with loo roll. Gross! Is that really what people do?

i have a silicone one by Joseph Joseph, it was expensive but totally cleanable with bleach or soap rather than having bristles it's much easier to clean.

Orangeballon · 21/06/2019 20:22

Just use someone else’s toothbrush. 😂

HavelockVetinari · 21/06/2019 20:23

"Flushable" wipes are not in fact flushable. HTH.

HJWT · 21/06/2019 20:25

The things is, I have a toilet brush but I would never use it to unblock the loo 🤢

FIL did that once, I went to clean my toilet and nearly barfed 🤮

motherheroic · 21/06/2019 20:25

@Fairylea Where do you put tampons/floss/cotton face pads/wipes etc. Do you walk all the way to the kitchen?

Fairylea · 21/06/2019 20:30

@motherheroic dd (16) and I just wrap them in toilet paper and walk them to the kitchen bin. We have a bathroom next to the kitchen / diner so it’s not a long walk. I’ve never ever had bins in bathrooms so it would never occur to me to have one. I think it’s less stuff to change / clean. Each to their own..!

Socksontheradiator · 21/06/2019 20:33

I use a rubber one and give the loo a quick swish round with it daily. Use a tiny drop of cheap shampoo instead of bleach. Rinse it under the flush and keep it in a pot with soapy water which gets changed often.

Socksontheradiator · 21/06/2019 20:34

To add... I had no idea they were considered so disgusting till mumsnet 😂

PutyourtoponTrevor · 21/06/2019 20:34

Hope the poster who has the toilet duck one doesn't flush it

ThisIsMyID · 21/06/2019 20:37

@CheshireDing flushable wipes aren't actually good for the environment. Yes. They flush. But you shouldn't flush them.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 21/06/2019 20:38

I have a toilet brush and a bathroom bin. I am clearly one of those MN slattern I've heard tell about.

HeronLanyon · 21/06/2019 20:38

cheshire I do exactly the same (right down to the flush and rinse action) save for using a compostable j cloth which is then thrown.
We are all different. I cannot imagine having a loo brush and have never lived with one.

imgoingtoburst · 21/06/2019 20:40

@PutyourtoponTrevor that's me! Once upon a time I did flush them but having watched a documentary on flushable wipes etc (yes it was thrilling) I now pop them in the bin :-)

Laurajjj · 22/06/2019 06:26

I have a toilet brush yes, but my question is, how is using toilet tissue to remove poo from the toilet bowl any different from using toilet roll to wipe poo from your arse?

Passthegin99 · 22/06/2019 12:13

@Laurajjj because my arse isn't under water unlike at least some of the potential shit show Envy
