And we don’t have to have Boris as PM?

Oh God, what a choice. Someone, please, send for some grown ups.

This! Is there anyway we can object to this shit storm?

"This is the man who in his first flush of reporting at the Telegraph in 1996 wrote an article about the Labour conference in Blackpool, which he devoted to reviewing the quality of “the hot totty” delegates who were present.
When he stood down from the editorship of the Spectator in 2005, Johnson advised his successor that the best way to handle the publisher’s suggestions for boosting circulation was to “pat her on the bottom and send her on her way”.
And in March this year, he was forced to apologise to Emily Thornberry for misrepresenting her as “the learned lady, the Baroness, whatever it is, of Nugee” in a dismissive reference to his rival’s husband, Christopher."

🤣

SquishySquirmy · 20/06/2019 21:10

I disagree with those who say that Boris is more able to beat Corbyn in a GE than Hunt is.
Boris is "popular" in that a small group of people really like him (like Corbyn in that respect). That is not the same as being liked (or even seen as neutral) by large numbers.

Hunt is more likely to be seen as "the lesser of two evils" by centre/centre right voters if up against Corbyn I think.

If comparisons have to be made, id say that Boris is more like Corbyn than Trump. In that they were both a "cult" figure, with a small core of passionate supporters but alienating to most voters.
Some Labour supporters were convinced Labour would smash the last GE because Corbyn was "popular". But having your name sung by crowds is not the same as having the wide support needed to win a GE.

Those inside a Conservative bubble will not see that though (any clearer than those inside certain labour bubbles), and may assume that Boris is popular with the masses. So although many Conservative members will vote for Boris because they like him, others will vote for him despite their dislike in the insanely misguided belief that he will make the Conservatives more electable!

silvercuckoo · 20/06/2019 21:16

The Muslim women comment was misogynistic and sexist and damn right disgusting.
Unpleasant, I agree, but why sexist and misogynistic? Surely the very phenomenon he criticised, ie burka, is more misogynistic?

Bluebluered · 20/06/2019 21:18

Boris and Trump

Cinammoncake · 20/06/2019 21:22

great post squishy I agree 100 percent.

I don't even know anyone who likes Boris. Perhaps the Tories are hoping its the same people who like Farage?

Fibbke · 20/06/2019 21:24

I know lots of people who like Boris. But it's more important that his party like him tbh.

The burka comment was spot on IMO, it is a horrible garment worn for misogynistic reasons.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 20/06/2019 21:31

@silvercuckoo. You really need his comments explained to you?

TopBitchoftheWitches · 20/06/2019 21:36

Ok, clearly some of you are hard of thinking. The burka comment was not against the item, it was putting down the women who wear them. Comparing those women to letter boxes.
Boris doesn't give a shit about any woman wearing one and why she might be wearing one. He saw an opportunity to take the piss out of the women wearing them and try to belittle them.

Idiots everywhere.

silvercuckoo · 20/06/2019 21:37

You really need his comments explained to you?
If you don't mind explaining what exactly do you find misogynist in this particular comment, please. Not every unpleasant thing said about women is misogynist.

Fibbke · 20/06/2019 21:43

Ok, I agree it was tasteless, but it wasn't misogynistic.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 20/06/2019 21:44

See above.

Crunchymum · 20/06/2019 21:50

So when will we have a GE? What will have to happen?

TheAngryLlama · 20/06/2019 21:52

The letterbox comment was a nasty racist dog whistle. I don’t think it’s evidence of misogyny. I accept that to some this may be angels dancing on the head of a pin but I think if you want to criticise him effectively it’s better to stick to wrongdoing which can be evidenced. And god knows there’s plenty of that.

RabbitseatDogs · 20/06/2019 22:05

I despair. How can Boris Johnson be our PM??? It's like living in a Viz comic.

I think me and my dog would do a better job. Or the man who runs the local shop. Or the woman who runs the launderette. Or any of my children. Or the rabbit.

silvercuckoo · 20/06/2019 22:09

He saw an opportunity to take the piss out of the women wearing them and try to belittle them.
A couple of prominent Muslim women have openly thanked him for ridiculing the outfit. Are they gender / religion traitors then?

MyGastIsFlabbered · 20/06/2019 22:12

That picture of Gove though Hmm

floraloctopus · 20/06/2019 22:12

It doesn't make any difference which of the two it is. Cunt by name or cunt by nature.

SeaWitchly · 20/06/2019 22:29

I cannot understand why anyone would want either Hunt or BJ running the country... or why on earth they would consider them to be a better choice than Corbyn 🙄
Yep, two egomaniac psychopaths versus man who actually gives a shit about those who are poor and struggling.

Fibbke · 20/06/2019 22:34

Because the majority of people in this country are not poor and struggling. Everyone wants to help and most people help a lot through their taxes. But also people want policies that help homeowners, middle earners, business owners, entrepreneurs - Corbyn has made it quite clear that he sees these people as the enemy.

TheAngryLlama · 20/06/2019 22:40

What motivates Corbyn is not concern for the poor. He thinks he cares for people who are struggling, but he’d hate it if they disappeared, because he’d lose the main stick he has to beat his enemies with.
I’ll grant you that he doesn’t realise this about himself. That level of self knowledge requires a degree of intelligence which he certainly does not possess. But I know it, and that’s good enough.
What motivates Corbyn is hatred - of himself and the tedious provincial middle class society he sprang from, chiefly. He’s a sad case, but not as sad as those taken in by him.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 20/06/2019 22:44

But Boris Johnson is championing a tax cut for the wealthy funded by increased NI contributions...how the fuck is this fair? Yes me in my minimum wage/benefit topped up/single parent state, I'm really thrilled to potentially pay so that fat cats pay less tax.

Fibbke · 20/06/2019 22:48

50k isn't fat cat territory
